The mother stared down at her daughter's body in disbelief. She knelt down in the pool of sweat and blood on the man's doorstep, adding tears to the solution. The man walked out onto his porch, still in a state of shock, while the ambulance slowly inched up he winding mountain pathway. The girl's body was placed into an ominous black bag and zipped up. The bag was carefully placed into the back of the ambulance and carted away. For the first time, the mother looked into the man's eyes.
"Thank you," she said. The mother picked up her purse and got up. She slowly trudged down the mountain path, crying all the ways. The man watched her walk down until she was out of sight, still trying to process what just happened.
Indeed, it was a mother's right to worry.
