Amanda : You're kidding, right?
Jen : I'm not Amanda.
Amanda : What?
Jen : I've thought about it for some time now, ever since what happened with Justin... and I just, I don't want him to doubt my love for him.
Amanda : But can't you just write him a card or something...
Jen : It's not like we're getting married. It's just an engagement.
Amanda : I guess, but Jen... I mean, isn't this happening a bit fast?
Jen : Fast? I've known him for more than 20 years. I think I know what I'm getting myself into.

Amanda : I'm calling the girls and we're coming over :
Later :
Jen : I don't understand why you're all making such a big deal out of this. We're literally...
Jen stops herself, as she realizes Andrea and Kristin don't even know about the whole "having a baby" thing yet.
Jen : We've been dating for almost a year now.
Andrea : We know, but...
The girls follow her into the living room, after grabbing a wine glass each.
Kristin : Listen... it's not that we're not happy for you, cause we are and we're so happy you and Brad have found each other again...
Andrea : Although we never thought that would happen, after what he...
Amanda : Andrea.
Amanda gives Andrea a stern look as this isn't the right time to bring up the past.
Kristin : But are you sure you're ready for this?
Jen sighs while trying to figure out a way to explain it to them.
Jen : Guys... he's the only one I want. He's the love of my life... I mean I can't imagine being with... any other human being.
Andrea : I've heard you say that before.
Jen : And I meant it.
Jen furrows her brow as she can tell Andrea isn't a hundred percent trusting of Brad yet.
Amanda : So when is this happening?
Jen : I don't know guys... I haven't really had much time to think about it. I just know it's something I wanna do.
While taking a sip of wine, an idea suddenly comes to her mind.
Jen : Maybe on his birthday?
Kristin : So soon?
Andrea : But Jen... why now? Why not wait till the year is over or something?
She turns to look at Amanda, who widens her eyes as she's the only one in this room that knows.
Kristin : What's going on Jen?
Leaning over to Amanda, Andrea whispers in her ear.
Andrea : Do you know something we don't?
Kristin : Jen...
Jen : We're having a baby.
Andrea's jaw drops, while the front door suddenly can be heard opening.
Brad : Jen!
Jen : Don't say a word about the proposal.
Jen quickly leans forward, whispering to the girls.
Jen : We're in here!
Brad : We?
Brad walks into the living room, not having any idea the girls were coming over.
Brad : Oh... hi girls.
He leans down kissing the side of Jen's head, before noticing how they're all staring at him.
Brad : What's going on?
Later at night :
Brad : So... Andrea and Kristin didn't exactly take the "baby" thing well?
He takes his shirt off before joining Jen under the covers.
Jen : Well, they just got a little shocked that's all.
Jen let's out a laugh, as Brad obviously doesn't know the whole reason behind why they were acting the way they did.
Brad : Mhm.
Jen : But hey, I've been thinking... your birthday is coming up soon.
Brad : Well, it's not for another month.
Jen : Still, do you have any wishes? What do you wanna do?
Brad : Why? Are you planning on hosting something?
Jen : You know I always throw a party for your birthday.
Brad : Yeah and you know how much I appreciate that... but what if we just keep it low key this year? Like just the two of us?
He lets his fingers run through her hair as she furrows her brow at him.
Jen : Why?
Brad : I mean... Covid is still going on. Plus we never celebrate anything just... you and me.
Jen sighs while thinking about his birthday... and the proposal.
How is she going to pull this off?
Brad : Except for later at night... which I'll be expecting this year as well, by the way.
Rolling her eyes, Jen laughs as she recalls what he's talking about.
Brad : What? It's a tradition.
Jen : I don't think it can be called a tradition anymore... if it hasn't happened the last 15 years.
Brad : Better catch up on some lost time then.
He pulls her closer, pressing his lips against hers before suddenly lifting her on top of him.
Jen : Brad.
Jen squeals as she gets on top, before leaning down to meet his lips again.
Jen : As much as I'd like to do this... right now. We have to get up early tomorrow.
Brad : What?
Jen : We have that meeting with Davis. It got rescheduled, remember?
Brad : Oh, yeah.
Turning to look at the time, she sighs.
Jen : But I mean... if we're fast.
Brad : I can be fast.
Jen : I know you can.
He laughs before pulling her back down, continuing what he started.
Sunday, at Courteney's house :
Amanda : How are things at your house?
While preparing her lunch, Courteney's on the phone with Amanda, chatting.
Courteney : They're good... besides the fact that I haven't seen Johnny in months though, but Coco and I are doing alright.
Amanda : Yeah, that must be hard.
Assuming Courteney has heard the news about Jen planning on proposing, it's only natural for Amanda to bring it up.
Amanda : Can you believe that Jen and Brad will be engaged soon? I mean I...
Courteney : What? What are you talking about?
Has Brad told her?
Amanda : Haven't you... hasn't she told you?
Courteney : No... who? Jen?
Amanda : Yeah... she's proposing.
As Courteney knows something Jen doesn't, she freezes.
Amanda : Well, don't tell her I told you then. I just assumed she already...
Courteney : When?
Amanda : What?
Courteney : When is she... proposing?
Amanda : I don't know... she mentioned something about his birthday, but...
Courteney : Mhm... you know what. I actually have to go now, Kevin is... well I'll talk to you later.
Amanda : Oh, alright.
Hanging up, Courteney sighs.

Brad called her a while back, telling her about this "thing" he was planning on doing.
He wanted to have dinner with Jen at the house, on his birthday, with no other people present. Light some candles, put on some of the old music they used to listen to... and propose.
Coco : Hey mom?
But what is going to happen now... now that they're both planning on doing the same thing?
Coco : What's going on?
It's not like she can tell either of them that the other is gonna propose... that will ruin it for the both of them.
Courteney : Oh... nothing. Nothing.
At Jen's house, a little later.
Brad : I think Maria seemed like a good choice.
Jen : Yeah.
Back home from the Center, Jen and Brad are discussing the surrogates Davis presented to them.
Brad : And she doesn't live that far from us, which is a plus...
Jen : But don't you think she is a little young?
Brad : 25? No... why?
Jen : I don't know... I mean she's got her whole life ahead of her.
Brad : Jen, you do realize that we will be the ones raising this child right?
Jen : Yes... but 9 months, that's a long time.
Brad : Well, I think she knows what she's signed up for.
Jen : I guess you're right.
Feeling his phone vibrate in his pocket, Brad pulls it out to see Courteney's name on his screen.
Jen : Who is it?
Brad : Oh... just someone from work.
Jen : Bullet Train?
Brad : Yeah...
Before she gets the chance to ask any more questions, he leaves the room, not wanting to take any risks.
Brad : Hey... what's up?
Courteney : Hi... uhm are you alone?
Brad : Yeah, Jen's in the other room.
Courteney : Okay... I was just thinking about what we talked about the other day, of how you wanted to propose on your birthday?
Brad : Yeah?
Courteney : How about you do it on thanksgiving instead?
He whispers into his phone, making sure Jen's not hearing any of this.
Brad : Isn't that a little soon?
Courteney : Is it though?
Brad : I think it's better to wait, that'll give me some time to look at rings too. Even though I'm meeting with someone tomorrow... but still.
Courteney : Really?
Brad : Why are you in such a rush though?
Court doesn't answer as she has no idea how to explain herself.
Brad : Is something going on? Is she planning on doing something on my birthday or something... cause she suddenly asked me about it last night.
Courteney : No... I don't know. I don't think so. I haven't talked to her...
Brad : Okay... good. Cause I really wanna do it here, at the house. I know how special that would be for her...
Courteney : Right.
Brad : God, I really can't wait to see the expression on her face... do you think she'll be surprised?
Courteney : Oh, she'll be surprised that's for sure... surprised big time.
2 days later, the shoot day of Vital Proteins :
Jen : So that's the shot?
The crew nods, as Jen is taking a look at the pictures they've got so far.
Chris : Jen! I need to take a look at your hair again.
Jen : Of course you do.
Jen rolls her eyes as she heads over to Chris, sitting down in her chair.
Chris : Seeing you in all white and with your hair long again really reminds me of your wedding day.
Jen : Which one?
He laughs, while Jen takes a sip of her collagen water.
Chris : Brad... I mean you didn't even tell me about you and Justin's wedding. You told me it was a "party".
Jen : I told everyone that.
Chris : Well... I would have done your hair better if you had told me.
Jen : Hey, what time is it?
Chris : One.
Jen : Ok, I'm just gonna call Brad... I'll be right back.
She grabs her phone, before walking away from the crew while calling Brad on FaceTime.
Brad : Hey, how's it going?
Jen : Hi babe... great. We're almost finished. What have you been up to?
Brad : I was just outside... Chesterfield needed a walk so we just went on a short one around the house.
Jen : Oh... Brad.
Noticing the cigarette in his hand, she gives him a judging look.
Jen : You really need to stop smoking already.
Brad : Don't pretend you don't.
Jen : Uhm... only sometimes. On a night out.
He laughs, as she looks down.
Jen : Anyways, are you working tomorrow?
As he recalls his schedule with the ring designer tomorrow, he realizes he has to come up with a lie.
Brad : Uhm... yeah actually, I'm gonna go down to the community center again tomorrow. Remember they called me the other day?
Jen : Wasn't that someone on Bullet Train?
Brad : Well... Watts called me after that.
Jen : Oh, alright. I have to go now, but I'll see you in a couple of hours.
Brad : Okay, I love you.
Jen : I love you too.
Jen hangs up, a little confused as to why he just lied to her.
Because she was with him that whole night and he never got a second phone call.

Jen : It's probably nothing.

Chris : Jen!
