"He'll be working in our hospital!"
Someone from the group shouted. Nasa hospital room unit kaming tatlo and I don't have any interest on what they are talking about. Siguro dahil sa pagod in first three days of my residency dito sa Consolacion Medical Center.
"Nagulat nga ako. Balita ko ang taas ng credentials niya at tsaka 'di rin biro yung universities na pinag-aralan niya abroad. No doubt he is on his 2nd Specialty" Sabi ni Kristine.
I don't have any care at all. I feel dizzy and warm where I cannot hear them clearly. I'm just quiet while having a sip of my coffee.
"At eto pa, di'ba pumanaw na yung former associate director ng hospital na 'to? Ayon. Siya daw yung papalit sa kanya." sabi ni Prince.
"What?" agad akong sumulpot sa conversation nila. I'm just shocked na ganon lang kadali sa sinong doctor na ito na maging associate director agad ng hospital.
"Hay nako, kaedad lang nga natin yun pero baka bongga siyang doctor kaya laban." sabi ni Kristine
Ba't alam nila 'to? Well, basta chismis mabilis sila
"Wait, who is this doctor ba? Eh di'ba you need to have more experience such as being years here in this industry or having VIP patients, bakit ang dali lang?"
"Nako hindi mo ba narinig? Grabe nga yung credentials. Dr. Yancheva daw"
"Yancheva?" I sounded interested. May naalala lang ako sa apelyidong yan.
"Hmmm, baka Nikolai si ano yan..." biro ni Kristine sa'kin.
"Shut up"
"Sus Niko, wala namang kayong gulo sa isa't isa eh so hindi yun malaking issue" biro rin ni Paul.
"Eh wala naman talagang issue ah, ang akin lang is---" naputol dahil may kumatok sa room.
"Residents, nandyan na yung bagong associate director. Wear your white coats, bilis!" si Dr. Reyes, yung in-charge sa amin when it comes to our training and all.
Agad naman naming inubos ang kape kahit mainit pa. We must be alert din para maganda yung image namin dito. Nauna na silang tatlo at kami nalang ang naiwan ni Kristine. Habang palabas kami ay tinititigan niya ako ng masama.
"Okay ka lang ba?" Kristine asked. "Namumutla ka eh, kinakabahan ka ba na dahil baka si Dr. Yancheva ay si Ixis?
"Of course not!" I defended myself. "You know, it will be awkward for both of us."
"Seriously? It's been six years. Siguro nga nakalimutan ka na non at walang pakialam sa'yo. And he's even in a good life now." I think she wants me to give some words of encouragement.
"Maybe, but I'm professional naman. Ano na kaya ang hitsura niya ngayon?" sabi ko.
"Hala, you miss him na no? yieeee" she teased me again. Siraulo.
Nakarating na kami sa may entrance ng hospital and hindi talaga siya welcome style na may pa banner at designs. Unplanned siguro ito pero yung CEO namin ay sobrang tensed. Jusko, ganon ba talaga ka intimidating yung doctor na 'to? I won't be intimidated kung si Ixis lang naman.
"He's here! Dr. Yancheva!" my boss shouted when the white Chevrolet stopped in front of the entrance.
A man slightly higher than me went out. He's so clean. He's so handsome. He's so hot.
"Thank you, Dr. CEO?" and they laugh with each other even the other doctors.
"You're officially and finally here, Dr. Cort Ixis Millagrosa Yancheva. The Consolacion Medical Hospital welcomes you happily and genuinely. Thank you for choosing us!" the CEO uttered. "I would like you to meet my doctors here and have some handshakes.
Nasa napakagilid ako na part ng entrance dahil syempre, new doctors palang kami. Isa-isa niya nang kinakamayan ang mga tao dito at ginagawa ko ang lahat para makaiwas sa mga tingin niya. Kristine and Prince are teasing me by doing some weird face reactions.
"And we have our junior interns, this is Dr. Prince Atillano and this is Dr. Kristine Apostol." they do handshakes too.
"Hi Dr. Atillano and Apostol, thank you" he greeted them both.
"And the last one, Dr. Nikolai Kent Flores." our CEO also introduced me to him.
"Hello, Dr. Nikolai" he greeted me with intensity in his eyes.
"Uhm oh.... Hi hello uhm welcome Do-doctor Yancheva."
Kinain ko ang sinabi ko. I am really intimidated with him. Shit.
"Dr. Ixis nalang" and he winked at me. Jusko ang puso ko. Parang nafreeze ako bigla ah.
Pumasok na ang lahat at ang CEO namin ay nakadikit pa rin sa kanya. Ang bilis lang ng nangyari where it doesn't feel that special. Tinititigan ako nila Prince at Kristine and they are still teasing me with what happened.
"Hoy na-ano ba kayo? Parang mga baliw na ewan." I shouted at them but in a whisper way.
"Sa aming lahat Dr. Yancheva tapos sa'yo Dr. Ixis lang? Iba ka? Ano 'to? May special offer?" biro ni Prince sa'kin
"Can you just stop? Walang meaning 'yon no" inirapan ko siya
I never thought that in this life, this would happen to me. Bakit ka pa bumalik at dito pa? Pero bakit ba ako nagrereklamo? Well Nikolai, you just need to be professional. Pero hindi eh, hindi dapat kasi maweweirduhan ako promise. Hay buhay, bakit pa kasi eh? I can't even understand myself right now. Walang issue okay? Wala dapat pero...
