"You idiot, I told you that you shouldn't hold the rod like that!" Arthur yelled angrily.
The five were in the middle of the sea, Arthur's brothers were fishing, and Arthur teaching Alfred how to fish, and he was getting impatient every second.
The King was just too hard to teach!
"No! Not like that, do it like this!" Arthur motioned Alfred to copy how he held his own rod.
"But Artiee!! I can't do it!!!"
The 3 Kirkland brothers' eyes twitched as Alfred whined.
They were so frustrated as Arthur was teaching him for a few hours now and yet Alfred hasn't even learned anything yet!
"Your highness, sorry to be rude but fishing is an easy thing to do! How can you be so bad at it?!" Alistair asked impatiently, he was getting irritated at how the King couldn't get it right.
Alfred looked at the redhead and visibly pouted,
"Well, it's my first time you know?! And besides, you four are already used to this!" He reasoned,
"BUT YOU LITERALLY JUST HOLD THE GOD-DAMNED ROD, HOW IS THAT HARD?! WHY ARE YOU HOLDING THE ROD LIKE IT'S SOME BLOODY PENCIL, WHO THE FUCK DOES THAT?! ARE YOU DUMB OR WHAT?!"
Alistair yelled angrily, standing up from his seat with frustration, then he realized his mistake as he saw the King's shocked look and quickly apologized.
"Sorry, your highness."
Alfred just waved it off and continued pouting, they had been fishing for hours but he couldn't just learn how to do it!
He looked at the other 2, watching as Dylan catches a fish and Seamus bringing the bucket closer so they should put the fish there, then looked at Arthur who was by his side, who also managed to catch some fish.
The boy noticed his stare and looked back at him,
"What? Have you finally managed to learn how to hold the bloody rod right?"
He asked and sighed as Alfred pouted even more, looked back at his own rod and grumbled.
Arthur stood up from his seat, giving Seamus his own rod, who looked at him confusedly but used it anyway, and went to Alfred's back, grabbing his hand and moving it to guide him, correcting it to the right position.
Alfred looked at his back, staring at Arthur who was putting his hands to the correct position on the rod.
Arthur's sight was focused on the rod, his peridot eyes narrowed on it.
Feeling something tugging on the bait, Alfred tore his eyes away from Arthur and looked back at his rod, realizing that they had caught something.
"Arthur Arthur!! How do I catch it?!"
He asked hurriedly, wanting to catch the fish.
"Roll it!" Arthur said, still on Alfred's back.
"Roll what?!" Alfred asked, confused and impatient,
"The reel!! This!!" Arthur moved Alfred's hands and roll the reel to show him where it was,
"There! Do it yourself now!!" Arthur practically demanded, impatient.
Alfred rolled the reel fast, as if the fish would go away if he didn't reel it fast enough, which would probably happen.
After a few moments of rolling the reel, Alfred looked at the end of his rod, seeing a fish on it.
His eyes widened, amazed.
He had finally managed to catch a fish!
The King looked at his back, staring at Arthur proudly as if telling him "Artie look, I did it!".
Arthur nodded and smiled widely, which Alfred returned with the same wide smile on his face.
They both stared at each other for a few seconds, wide smiles plastered on their faces, Alfred attempted to hug Arthur out of happiness but before he could do it, Alistair pulled Arthur away, glaring at Alfred.
"Okay, you did it your highness, good job. Now go back to fishing Artie."
The red head interrupted, still slightly glaring at Alfred after Arthur obeyed, getting his rod from Seamus back.
Dylan suddenly butted in,
"You lads have only met for 2 days, but you act like you two been friends for a long time."
He stated, glancing at Alfred briefly and going back to his own rod.
And the five continued fishing quietly for a few more hours.
...
As they were back on the dock, Arthur looked at Alfred's bucket and his jaw dropped.
"HOW THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE TO CATCH MORE FISHES THAN ME?! I PRACTICALLY TAUGHT YOU EARLIER!!" He exclaimed, shocked.
"YOU COULDN'T EVEN HOLD THE ROD RIGHT EARLIER AND SUDDENLY YOU'VE CAUGHT ALOT OF FISHES, EVEN MORE THAN WHAT MY BROTHERS AND I CAUGHT!!!" He continued and Alfred looked at him, rubbing the back of his neck.
Huh, he keeps doing that recently, weird.
"Well, my father said that I'm hard to reach but once I get the basics, I can practically master anything for a few hours!" He said.
"Your highness, MAYBE you've already knew it but pretended not to?" Alistair practically spat, glaring at Alfred.
There was tension in the air as he and Alfred had a staring contest.
"What, no! It's really my first time I swear!" Alfred said awkwardly, nervous at the glare he was given.
Does Alistair hate him or something?!
What did he even do?!
"If you say so, your highness.." Dylan hummed, Alfred nodded and looked at his pocket watch.
"Oh crap! It's almost afternoon, Yao's gonna scold me!" He said, putting down his bucket.
"Oh yeah, here's the bucket! Sorry I can't bring it with you! I need to go to change for the feast!" He hurried, then shouted to them as he ran,
"Make sure you guys attend it!!!!"
As soon as he was gone, the 3 turned to their youngest brother.
"Artie, the King seems TOO close to you." Alistair said as they were walking back home,
"You've only met for 2 days! 2 days Artie! And he's already clinging to you like some eel!" He continued, angry.
"And not to mention that he kept calling you Artie!" Dylan butted in irritatedly.
"Why did he even call you that?! We're the only ones who could call you ‘Artie’!!"
He accidentally confessed, making them all stop and look at Dylan,
"You fucker! Why did you have to say it?!"
Alistair asked angrily, blushing at the fact that they've been found out.
Arthur looked at his brothers, his eyebrows furrowed.
"So, the reason you've been cold and harsh towards Alfred is because he kept calling me Artie?" He asked, shocked and confused.
Dylan and Alistair looked away blushing while Seamus simply looked at the ground, not moving but you can also see a faint blush on his cheeks.
Arthur laughed, clutching his stomach. So that was the reason!
He wiped his eyes and looked at the three who were still bashful.
"I thought that it was something serious, I couldn't understand why you guys acted like that towards him, I didn't know you felt that way!"
The youngest said then put down his bucket just to cross his arms,
"Well, you don't have to be mad at him. You three are special to me, after all you're my b-brothers.." He said, now the one blushing and crossing his arms.
He looked at his brothers who was slightly shocked and huffed.
"L-lets just go home already, we still have to take a bath and change our clothes for the feast, we smell like fish!"
He grabbed his bucket again and walked faster, wanting to get far from his brothers.
The three then followed him,
"Ofcourse we'll smell like fish, we went fishing after all!!" Alistair said, smirking at his little brother.
"And did we just hear that right? We're special to you, Artie~?" Dylan teased, humming.
"Oh shut it you wankers!" Arthur remarked as they walked back home.
...
Alfred just finished fixing his tie, looking at the mirror, he put on his glasses and headed downstairs. Seeing some maids and butlers, he called out to them.
"Hey, once you're done with all the preparations, feel free to join the feast outside!"
He said, then ran towards Yao who was leaning beside the door, then stopped briefly and looked at the figure beside his Jack, he then realized who the figure was.
"Mattie!"
He called, running towards Matthew Williams, his half older brother and the Ace of the Spades,
"I didn't know you'd join the feast!" He exclaimed as he reached the two, happy to see his older brother who smiled and waved at him.
"Well, since there's a feast, I have to guard it. And well, it doesn't hurt to join so I changed my clothes, everything seems lively, eh?" He spoke and Alfred nodded,
"I barely even see you inside the castle Mattie! You're either training the military or just in the mountains, sensing the nature or some crap!"
He whined. "The only time we'll get to be together is probably if we go camping! Maybe we'll even have some friends to invite, we should camp if you're free!"
He finished, complaining that Mattew didn't hang out with him as often as before anymore.
"We have our own jobs, Al. Well, I have my own job, you're clearly just slacking off. I have to train the military so that our kingdom will be strong once a war happens." He said,
"And there's nothing wrong with nature, I enjoy the maple trees in the mountains!" He added, slightly pouting.
"Yeah I know, but we don't hang out as often anymore!" Alfred pouted,
"Well anyways, let's go now! They're waiting!" He finished as he ran outside.
