Louis woke up with a pillow held tightly in his little arms, and for a minute he thought it was Harry.
But when he opened his eyes, the space in front of him was empty. The sheets weren't ruffled from a body that once slept there. There weren't beautiful green eyes staring at him with such adoration. There wasn't Harry.
All it was was a distant memory.
The room seemed dark even if the sun peeked through the curtains in the corner of the room. Harry's eyes used to light up every room.
His smile made Louis happy.
But Harry wouldn't smile at Louis anymore.
Louis didn't smile anymore.
He hid his face in the pillow, tears falling down his cheeks. Nothing was good anymore.
Louis didn't look forward to anything in the morning like he used to. He used to wake up and be excited to look into Harry's eyes. To see his beautiful smile and laugh. Or make him breakfast in bed when he wasn't feeling too well.
But all he looked at now was the spot where he once lay. The sheets were held with memories that burned Louis' skin and sent him in a whirl of sadness, a whirlpool that never ended.
He held the pillow tighter.
