Kaito pov
The new day came, i went to the school, i tried to avoid encountering Maki and Shuichi so that they wouldn't get in the way
Me and Tenko looked for Kokichi and couldn't find him anywhere, well shit. Everything is already ruined.
We went to class and it seemed like Kokichi was absent, but then Kokichi entered the classroom.. he seems totally fine.. well... Physically.
Well that makes the plan even more ruined.
I spent the whole class thinking about how i should encounter Kokichi. And then as soon as the bell rang and the teacher got out of the classroom
I saw Kiibo encounter Kokichi, Kiibo talked to him like if he was his bestfriend for ages. And Kokichi just looked... Confused.
Well i can't blame Kokichi. I would be surprised too. But if Kiibo is actually willing to become closer to Kokichi, well that makes things either for me.
Kaede started a conversation with me and i couldn't do anything about it. Not so long until i noticed that Tenko went to join Kiibo's and Kokichi's conversation too.
"Huh... Are things with Ouma getting fixed or...?" Kaede said with a confused expression on her face
I looked at her. Gladly Shuichi and Maki weren't focusing on me so. "Hey... do you want things between us and Ouma to get fixe-"
"Definitely. I mean. I know he has a pretty bad reputation. Especially with Maki. But... We can't just leave him like that... He suffered with us too!" Kaede said cutting me off. And the way she phrased it... She's pretty confident with her opinion..! Guess my plan is falling because there's a better way to fix things huh.
A silence between me and Kaede came in...
"I'm going to talk to Ouma." Kaede said standing up
I stood up too "wait, you're pretty close to Maki.. s-" "i don't care, i'm still going to talk to Ouma." She argued, then she went to Kokichi and started joining the conversation.
I noticed how surprised Maki and Shuichi were. God. It must've been a shock to them.... But honestly. If everyone started treating Kokichi nicely, they would have no choice but to at least talk to him respectfully.
I was nervous about this... Talking to Ouma in front of Maki... But.. she wouldn't hurt me right..?
I went up to Kokichi and decided to strike to their conversation. Damn, i already know Kokichi thought i planned this, but well, R.I.P my plan.
The rest of the day started going well and i noticed Kokichi became a bit more cheerful, i wonder if i will ever meet the Joker Kokichi from the killing game again..?
~Time skip to lunchtime ehehehhe~
I still was going to eat lunch with Shuichi and Maki, but obviously Maki was way quieter.. it's predictable honestly. But it still makes me nervous.
"Don't worry, i am not going to treat you differently just because you talked to Kokichi. I hate being treated differently.... So i wouldn't like to make the people who are close to me treated the way i hate to be treated." Maki said. That honestly made me relieved. I don't want anyone to have problems with the other. I just want to fix everything.
"I understand if you still hate him.. but we can't just treat him all the time like this. I mean... It is not like we didn't treat him badly too. Both of us should apologize to each other" i said. Trying to fix the hardest part in this whole situation.
"You're right... Let's just give him one more chance, and see how he'll be" said Shuichi, not expecting Maki to agree with giving him another chance
"...fine. but if he does something wrong again we won't give him any other chances." Maki said. She seemed like she was forced to agree to this. I mean... I can't actually tell if Maki is actually accepting to give him one last chance. I expected her to at least argue a little.
"Hey! Kaito!" We looked behind us to find Nagito and Hajime coming towards me.
"Oh hey you two!" I said smiling at them
"Oh. You seem to be hanging out with your friends. Welp nevermind. Me and Nagito were just about to ask you to eat lunch with us" Hajime said awkwardly
"Hey Kaito, it's also alright if you want to eat lunch with them." Shuichi said giving me a weak smile. "We hang out after school either way.. so it's alright." Maki said. "Though you better not get detention again." Said Maki jokingly.
"Don't worry! i didn't forget my homework." I replied to Maki jokingly.
Me, Hajime and Nagito ate lunch at their classroom again.
"So? How did it go?" Hajime asked excitedly
"It went absolutely nothing according to the plan." I said while smiling and opening my lunchbox
"What!?" Hajime and Nagito said in the same time "basically, Tenko right after the end of the school day came and asked me about Kokichi, i told her the plan, but then today Kokichi came a bit late, right after the first class ended Kiibo went to talk to Kokichi, then Tenko joined. Then Kaede joined and I joined too." I said answering them
"So suddenly!? But hey at least something so random worked!" Hajime said in a glad tone
"Well, Kokichi must've been really confused but i'm happy for him" said Nagito while opening his lunchbox
Hajime peeked over Nagito's lunch and said "Seriously are you eating lunch or dinner?"
"My sleeping routine is pretty messed up so i would say that's a dinner." Nagito said jokingly
Hajime sighed and then someone started knocking on the classroom's door
"Yeah bro you can come in." Hajime said
"Calling them bro while you don't even know who it is yet? What if it was a girl" I said jokingly
"Bullying a girl? Not cool Hajime." Said Nagito jokingly too "man, how many times have i heard you say th-" Hajime shut up as soon as he looked at who it was knocking the door
I looked too and it was actually surprising.
"Hey, Kaito.. can i... Eat lunch with you?" Kokichi said avoiding eye contact with me.
"Of course you can!" I told Kokichi smiling at him. God. He looked so relieved when i said that. He's still nervous to talk to anybody huh...
"What about.. the other two? M- maybe they don't want me to sit with them-"
"No we don't mind! It'll actually be better if you eat here anyways, rather than the crowded playground or the crowded rooftop." Nagito said smiling at Kokichi
This went really well. The rest of the day went well actually. Maki didn't seem too bothered about Kokichi either
"Hey, Kaito, we're going to go to the school entrance and wait for you there since you take forever to pack your things." Maki told me while already leaving, leaving Shuichi behind too, Shuichi ran after her and i continued packing my things up, i was all alone in the classro-
"Hey Kaito?" I looked behind me to find Kokichi looking up at me.
"Um- did you teleport or something?" I told Kokichi in a surprised tone "what? I was in the classroom the whole time" Kokichi answered in a really confused tone. I bet this day must've been one of his most confusing days ever
"Really? I thought i was alone in this classroom" i answered laughingly, then continued packing my shit again.
I didn't realize it when it was happening but Kokichi placed around me and back-hugged me.
"Thanks... Momota-chan" Kokichi told me, i could already know that he's shy because of his tone. I also tried not to blush at his cute "Momota-chan".
I finished packing my stuff and turned around, smiled at Kokichi then rubbed his hair, making him annoyed again. "Thanking me for what?" I said.
"For making my life normal again. I know it was only one day but.." he said.
I put my hand on his cheek "you don't have to thank me! Really! Though, can i ask why were you absent yesterday?" I asked curiously
"It was nothing, just a member of my organization's birthday" he said avoiding eye contact with me.
I glared at him, until he noticed that i'm glaring at him. "I'm not lying! I swear!" He said understanding what i was thinking of.
I smiled then patted his back "it's fine. You can go back to the all about lying guy that you were before." I said
"You have to go now don't you?" He said, i nodded as a response
"Well, see you on Monday...!" He said giving me a weak smile. "Yep, cya!" I said leaving the classroom. It warmed my heart that i made Ouma feel better. And that it didn't bother Maki. I walked home with Maki and Shuichi, comparing to the other days, today was definitely a good day.
