"AND I WAS LIKE YOU AND MONIQUE FINNA RAISE IT. THEN I WALKED OUT THE ABORTION CLINIC." The youngest of Corinne's brothers told them the story of how he ended up with his third baby. Everyone sat in their cousin's backyard at the after repast party.

They had a funeral, then they went to the cemetery for the burial, before going to the repast only to want to kick it some more after their time at the venue was over. Corinne and Coriah's grandmother wasn't their brother's grandmother but all five boys were there because they had to support their sisters.

"You so stupid," Kenneth says, shaking his head. It was getting dark and they had been at their cousin's since six.

"Lil cuz." Her cousin Angie's son Lamont says, making her look to her right. "Let me know if somebody start fucking with you cause me and my niggas got you. I ride for them and they gone ride for me." He tells her, drunk as hell. "Okay." She nods looking down at her phone that had started dinging over and over again.

"Who that is?" He asks, to be nosey.

"My friends." She says opening up her phone to see she had nine hundred texts.

She sees three hundred text notifications came from "Gang Gang" which was her group chat with Five, Meech, Paris, and Demon. Two hundred from "OTF" which was Tamia, Lizeth, Kennedy, and Isaiah. Fifty was from "Girly Tingz!" aka just the girls from the OTF group chat, 2 from her friend Tanisha.

She couldn't even get through the rest of their messages clicking to see a preview of what she said because she hadn't heard from her since the fourteenth.

Tanisha was one of Corinne's closest friends. The two girls had been friends since eighth grade and although they didn't talk every day cause Corinne had shit to do, Corinne always was there when she needed her or when she needed to talk but Tanisha gave Corinne her condolences on Sunday and hadn't reached out since.

"Bitch, fuck yo birthday." Corinne thinks reading the messages "You coming to my birthday dinner on the 25th right?" and "You know I want that Chanel perfume set."

"Who's bestie with the?" Lamont asks making the queasy face to match the emoji she had next to the name. "My bestie." She says, making him make a face noticing the contact picture. It was a video screenshot of her and Demon.

"You know what they say about girls and them boy best friends." He tells her. "Nah, he mean to me." She shakes her head pulling out her AirPods. "We'll see." He mutters watching her get on the phone with the boy.

"You good?" Demon asks immediately. "Yeah, I'm okay." She says.

"You sure cause I can get you something sentimental...I don't know what's sentimental for you but I'll figure it out." He tells her.

"I appreciate it cause I know you don't like affection like that."

"Real niggas don't do that love shit." He tells her, making her think, "My sister would like him."

"Where Five at?" She asks him. "Why?" He questions. "I'mma just call him," Corinne mumbles before hanging up before calling the other boy.

"Hey, girlfriend." He tells her.

"Where you at?" She asks. "On Hamlin and Maypole." He tells her.

"Who you with?"

"Meech and his brother." He answers. "Okay, I'mma call you back." She says before hanging up with zero intentions of calling him back.

"So anyway, what should I get him for his birthday?" She asks Demon when he answers her call. "I'm not helping you with shit." He tells her, making her roll her eyes.

"You coulda just told me he wasn't with you and I would've been asked." She explains.

"Ion know what he want. I always give his ass money." He tells her.

"That's not thoughtful. Ooh, you know? I'mma just pre-order 2K for him." She says. "My birthday in October." He tells her. "I'm not getting you nothing. You mean ass shit." She shakes her head.

"I hate yo ugly ass." He says. "Hate you too, friend." She tells him. "Get the fuck off-" She hung up on him in the middle of his sentence before paying attention to the group's conversation.

"Who you going to St. Louis with?" Nicole asks. "Kelis friends," Corinne tells them.

"I thought you ain't like her," Lorenzo says.

"Why everybody keep saying that?" She asks.

"Cause you said that."

"Y'all know why I feel how I feel about her." Corinne shrugs.

"You need money?" Kenneth asks. "No." She says, knowing she was fully booked every day next week. "Get it from me the day before you leave." He tells her.

"I don't-"

"I'mma put some with it," Lorenzo says. "I can get you like a dollar bag of chips." Toot offers, making her laugh.

"I just need some more clothes." She says.

"You going shopping?" Kendall asks.

Toot and Kendall had the same mother but didn't look anything alike. In all honesty, Corinne wasn't sure if Kendall was her brother for real because he was the only light-skinned one but when their mother put Priest on child support, the DNA proved he was indeed the father. "Y'all so sweet."

"Say the word and I'mma be on a flight though, sis," Kenneth says. "I think I'mma be cool." She tells him. "What he say?" Sean asks.

"I heard him." She tells Sean.

"Yo friend coming?" Lamont asks Corinne lowly. "No?" She says. "Rin." He shakes his head. "It's not like that I swear." She tells him. "So why you lie?" He furrows his eyebrows. "Cause you think some going on and it's not like that," Corinne stresses.

"Like I said, we'll see."

"That's you, D?" Demon hears walking in the apartment.

"Yeah, shorty." He says, sitting down on the couch. "Where you been all day, babe?" India asks, coming out of the kitchen in a blank and white striped sundress that hugged her curves while her twenty-six-inch bundles were straightened. "Outside, g." He tells her taking the plate of food from her hands.

"Preciate you." He mutters making her smile.

"I always got you, babe." She says, putting Love and Hip-Hop on the tv making him roll his eyes.

"Put on Power." He tells her, eating the fried chicken and macaroni. "No, you know I don't watch that." She says. He goes on his phone while eating, doing checks to make sure everything was moving how it was supposed to be moving.

"Take this in the kitchen for me." He tells her standing up to go wash his hands. He gets a condom out of the box before going back to the living room. He sits down faking interest in the show when she comes back.

"I'm gone miss you while you gone." She whispers kissing his neck. "Get off of me shorty. Watch yo show." He says making her pout. "But I want you, baby." She tells him rubbing his thigh.

"Show me then." He tells her making her unbuckle the Dolce and Gabbana belt. "I'm gone miss you when you go to St. Louis." She tells him taking his stiff member out of the confinement of his jeans with sadness in her voice.

"I'mma miss you too." He lies.

"I know cause you love you some me." She says.

"Mhmm." He hums as she starts giving him head.

Demon did have love for India, no doubt but he always felt like she wasn't the type to be down for him. He knew she would run if shit got bad. She had crackheads as parents and before she met Demon, she was a hustler. She was a bottle girl at his father's strip club Masquerade and Demon saved her which made her dependent on him.

She played her role so he paid for everything she needed because he had it. He called it charity work. She gave him her all and he still didn't fuck with her, how she fucked with him. Maybe he would learn to appreciate her how she deserved.
