Title: Halloween Special
Rushing into the lair, I glanced at the time and quickly went around to the turtle boy's rooms, knocking on their doors. It was already seven-thirty; which wasn't bad, but nowadays, people tended to close up their candy shops before nine due to the fact that not a lot of people went trick-or-treating anymore at all.
Sad times.
Anyways, I stood in front of the t.v. in the living room, tapping my high-heeled boot as I glanced at my phone every few seconds. Catching drift of my reflection, I grinned when I saw myself in the glass in the t.v. I was dressed as Jack Skellington from the oh-so-famous Nightmare Before Christmas, wearing his famous pinstriped suit with a matching skull-like face. Grinning stupidly, I straightened the bow around my neck and glanced down at my phone again.
Seven thirty-eight.
"You'd think for turtles they wouldn't take this long. It's like they're already dressed up anyways," huffing with impatience, I stepped away from the t.v., ready to drag them out of their rooms if I had to. Just as I had though, all of the doors opened as if in sync from a Backstreet Boys music video, and the boys stepped out.
"What...are you wearing?" I deadpanned, staring at their outfits. Mikey scoffed with offense as the others looked down.
Leo was wearing a Captain Ryan suit, the exact same mustard yellow that brought back memories of him forcing me to listen to him recite random lines from the show as we watched those exact moments. It wasn't a bad costume, just a little strange to see a giant turtle in a yellow suit.
Raph, bless his soul, was just wearing his samurai armor and classic frown, arms crossed against his chest. It actually didn't look too bad, the whole samurai-turtle thing he had going on, so I left it alone.
Donnie was wearing a lab coat and a pair of green goggles, holding a pair of clamps up to his face, one in each hand. He had on a smoothed-back white wig and was wearing two watches, one on each wrist. It made me feel nostalgic just looking at him.
"Are you-" I asked, even though I already knew the answer. He nodded in confirmation, a dorky smile on his face. Still grinning, I turned to Mikey. My smile fell.
Mikey.
He was wearing a blow-up dinosaur suit, the only thing visible being his large grin. As if showing off, he stomped his feet and faked a dinosaur screech, sounding pretty real to the rest of us.
"You guys do realize you didn't need to dress up, right? You are turtles," I shook my head as I smiled at them. Then, I realized they were staring at me. "What?" I asked, looking down at myself.
"Who are you supposed to be?" Raph asked, boredly leaning against his now-closed bedroom door. I gasped, suddenly offended by everyone around me. I wanted to run home. I wanted to turn on Mr. Brightside. I wanted to put so much eyeliner under my eye that I would cry black tears. I wanted to find a journal and write about how no one understood me.
Because they didn't.
"Exsqueeze me?" I demanded, putting a hand to my chest, looking at all of them. They all shrugged. "You guys have no class. And we will be watching The Nightmare Before Christmas so many times you'll be having nightmares about "What's This?" for years to come," I giggled evily as they all looked at me like I was a weirdo.
"Okay, anyways, can we go now? You tell us we're wasting time and yet you're standing here giggling. I'm ready to go!" Mikey squealed, trying to run with his tiny legs. He ultimately fell, his little arms flailing as he tried to roll himself over.
"A little help?" he wondered as we all walked past him to the entrance, ignoring his pleas.
"Guys?"

We all stood outside the alley, taking it in. Since people living in apartments didn't really want kids running up and down their hallways for candy, most of them had just set up lawn chairs outside the building and were sitting with bowls of candy in their laps, conversing and laughing with each other as kids ran past, eager for the treats that they held in their grasps.
"Wow," the boys all said in sync, eyes glazed over with the happiness that was melting through the air. I nodded along, noticing a few groups of teenagers around too. At least we weren't the only ones older than twelve that were still out and about for candy. Then I noticed him.
"Oh my gosh," I gasped, putting a hand to my chest, "Sally!" I squealed, waving my painted white hand. A head snapped over to me and a smile lit the face that came with it. It was a teen dressed as my counterpart. His skin was pained a mint green, stitches decorating the parts of his body that weren't covered by the the trenchcoat that was designed to look stitched together.
"Jack?" he shouted, looking at me. Making our way across the street to each other, we both disregarded our respective friend groups.
"Sally, if you don't mind, I'd like to join you by your side," I quoted, bowing down and holding out a hand.
"Of course, Bone Daddy," he smirked, taking my hand in his as I stifled a laugh. We got a few pictures and even swapped numbers before departing back to our sides of the streets.
"Hey, guys. Sorry, I saw an opportunity and I had to take it. But the night is young and there's still plenty of people out and about. What do you say?" I finished my monologue and looked at the boys. They were holding bags, looking at me with bored looks on their faces. Their bags had candy in them.
"Uh, did you think we were gonna wait for you to finish your roleplaying with Sal over there? We wanted candy," Raph retorted, holding his bag closer, as if I were going to try and snatch it at any moment. I huffed.
"We should move on down the street, though. Some people are already closing up," Donnie said, looking into his bag, as if counting the candy. He probably was. I jumped ahead of them as I pointed a finger into the air.
"We're off!" I shouted as I ran down the street, hearing the footsteps behind me as my friends followed. We hooted and cackled as we ran down the street, high off the bright lights and sounds around us. Well, I was. The boys just looked like they wanted to get as much candy as possible and then hole up with it.
I wasn't complaining; as long as they shared.

We trick-or-treated for another hour, telling jokes and occasionally eating a piece or two as he meandered down the street along with other late-nighters. We even got to witness Mikey and another lookalike duel to decide who was the best-dressed dragon. Mikey won.
After hitting every person that we could, we eventually decided to head home, the time following with a glowing nine 'oh seven. But, just before we did, we decided to take a picture of all of us, together. We set my phone up across the alley and got together as we smiled. Then, at the last moment, Mikey tipped over and sent me flying into Donnie, who knocked over Leo. Raph was the only one untouched.
We decided we liked the picture, since everyone in it was laughing anyways, so I sent it out and we made our way back to the lair.
That night, we sat around and laughed as we gorged on candy, reliving the time we spent together. Finally, as it hit nine-thirty, I sat up and reached into my bag, pulling out my prized possession.
"Do you carry that thing around with you?" Donnie asked, wrinkling his beak at my prize. I held the movie to my chest and nodded.
"You never know when you're going to need it. Like now!" I shouted as I dove for the DVD player, sticking the movie into the tiny slot. I ignored the sounds of the boys booing and groaning as I happily skipped over the ads for other movies and turned up the volume.
"Twas a long time ago, longer now than it seems, that perhaps you've seen in your dreams; for the story that you are about to be told took place in the holiday worlds of old. Now, you're probably wondering where holidays came from. If you haven't, I'd say it's time you begun..." I mouthed along with the opening quote and the rest of the movie as the boys watched boredly. I could tell they were interested, though.
Donnie laughed along with me as the professor tried to kiss his brain and got his face slammed in.
Leo grinned happily at Jack's words as he realized that he was the Pumpkin King.
Raph barked out a laugh as Jack got hit with the cannon and went falling into the cemetery.
Mikey hummed along to "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" as I did too.
Finally, as Jack and Sally were singing together on top of the hill, I let out a few tears and was pleased to see the boys were looking pretty good too.
"And sit together, now and forever, for it is plain as anyone can see, we're simply meant to be," the credits began to roll as I let out a tear. Every time.
What I would give to be in Sally's shoes.
"What did you guys think?" I asked, turning around to look at them. I deadpanned as I saw them all pretending to be asleep, "Okay, guys. I get it. Goodnight and Happy Halloween." I ended as I laid down on the couch and closed my eyes. Just as I was closing my eyes, I heard the thing that made me happiest of all.
"Goodnight, (y/n). Happy Halloween," I was on the verge of falling asleep before I heard a small clamor of voices and t.v. noises.
"Twas a long time ago, longer now than it seems..." I fell asleep to the sound of the boys softly singing along with the people of Halloween Town.
The end to a perfect night.

Hey, everyone! I figured I would do one of these just because I love Halloween and the Nightmare Before Christmas, if it wasn't already obvious!
If you can guess what movie character Donnie was, I'll give you a cookie!
it took like 2 years for someone to figure out donnie's costume lmao
