Narrator POV
C stands completely still. He just stares down at the sword still embedded into the ground. Weak embers come out of the ground beside it as the rain falls. The trees in the treeline are all missing leaves and the grass is yellow and dying. No sound pierces the air other than the raindrops hitting the ground. C continues to stare at the sword with no expression and his hands in his pockets. Everyone who stayed watches him from the kitchen window or the sliding glass door.
Ryuko: Do you think he'll pull it out today?
Summer: He needs time.
Yang: But it's been a week. I know he's grieving, but he doesn't cry, or scream, or even get angry. Hell he hasn't even eaten anything other than the couple of meals we make him sit down and eat!
Tai: We know Yang, but yelling isn't going to help us.
Yang: I just want him to be happy.
Satsuki: We all want that Yang, but we can't expect him to suddenly be alright with what happened. He lost his father figure.
E: Again, but are we sure sending someone out there won't at least help?
Ryuko: He doesn't listen to anybody. Not even me, Yang, or Arsenic. Who could we possibly send?
E: I don't know. I'm just offering suggestions.
They all look outside and see C. He just stands there letting the rain fall on him. Shiketsu sighs as she looks out the window. Senketsu puts a hand on her shoulder and gives her a sad smile. Raven opens the door and walks out. Everyone looks as she walks up to C and stands next to him. He doesn't respond to her standing next to him.
Raven: I don't think I could ever understand how hard that day was for you, but for as little as it must be worth to you, I am sorry. I'm not good with all this touchy feely stuff, but you have plenty of people here who are. This isn't a battle you have to fight alone.
C:...
Raven turns and walks back to the house. C still just stands there staring at the blade. The rain continues to pour down as he remains silent. He stands there in that spot for another five hours until Yang comes outside. She takes his hand and pulls it gently.
Yang: Come on. It's time for dinner.
C doesn't move.
Yang: Please come eat. You'll get sick if you don't.
C:...
Yang: Will you do it for me?
C looks back at her and nods his head. She leads him back to the mansion and opens the door for him. When they step through she turns to him and sees how drenched he is. He shivers and rubs his arms from the difference in temperature now that he's away from the sword. She sighs as she looks at him.
Yang: You should go change clothes. You'll catch a cold if you don't hurry.
He nods and takes his shoes and socks off. His bare feet hit the tiles and he shivers even more. Yang can't help herself and hugs him as she activates her semblance.
Yang: Sorry I wish I could be warmer, but my semblance is tied to my emotions and I'm not angry.
Despite that, she is still much warmer than the air around them and C gratefully hugs her back. He holds her as close as he can.
Yang: C'mon let's get you into something dry.
She turns around and wraps C's arms around her from behind. He holds her tight as she leads him to his room. Once there Yang opens the door and they head in. Yang goes through the drawers and the closet before pulling out a pair of black shorts, a white shirt, and grey boxers. She hands them to C and he takes off his drenched clothes before slipping the dry ones on. He then takes the wet clothes and puts them in the bathtub. He looks over and sees that Yang's shirt and hair are both wet from when he held her. He goes through a drawer and pulls out a black shirtsleeve shirt. He hands it to her and she goes into the bathroom to change. The shirt is too big for her, but she doesn't care. She steps out of the bathroom and sees C laying in bed on his side. She comes over and sits beside him. He lays his head in her lap and just lays there. Yang pets his hair as she gets a good look at him. His eyes have bags under them and he's noticably paler.
Yang: Have you been sleeping?
C doesn't respond, but he nods. She isn't convinced to say the least.
Yang: Okay have you been sleeping at least six hours a night.
C thinks about it before shaking his head.
C: Can't.
Yang: Why not?
Her voice is layered with concern as she pets his head.
C: Nightmares.
Yang: Why don't we go down and get some food? You usually enjoy eating with us.
C: I'm not hungry. Just tired.
Yang thinks about it for a moment.
Yang: If I let you go to bed will you promise to eat three normal meals tomorrow?
C nods.
Yang: Can I hear you say it please?
C: I'll eat three meals tomorrow, but please don't leave.
Yang smiles and then lays down next to him.
Yang: I'll never leave you.
She pulls C into a hug and he lays his head on her chest. She pets his hair until she hears him gently snoring. She starts to feel her eyes getting heavy too, so she closes them and in no time she's fast asleep. Half an hour later Ryuko decided to check on C, but he wasn't outside. She notices his soaking wet shoes and socks by the door and heads upstairs to their room. She opens the door and sees C and Yang both asleep on the bed. For the first time in a week C doesn't seem to be tossing or turning in his sleep. Ryuko smiles at that, but at the same time she feels a strong pang of jealousy for a couple of reasons. One, she isn't the one currently being a pillow for him, and two, she wasn't able to actually keep his nightmares away herself. She then notices they're both laying on the covers and not in them. She grabs a spare comforter from out the closet and lays it over them. She then slips her shoes off, slides under the covers, and lays next to C. His arm instinctively wraps around her and pulls her close. Now her and Yang are practically shoulder to shoulder with C laying on Yang's chest and holding both of them close. Ryuko just smiles and closes her eyes.

Ryuko woke up and noticed that C was missing, and instead she was laying next to Yang who was holding her. Ryuko pulls out of Yang's grasp and then sees her trying to reach out for something. Ryuko puts a pillow beside her, and Yang grabs it and squeezes it tight. She then rolls in her sleep and falls out of bed with a solid thunk.
Yang: Ow.
She sits up and sees Ryuko.
Yang: Oh um I'm sorry! I accidentally fe-
Ryuko: Calm down. It's fine. I saw when I came upstairs. I'm not going to hit you because you were comforting him. Speaking of which let's see if we can find him.
Ryuko hops out of bed and holds her hand out to Yang. She takes it and Ryuko pulls her to her feet. They both head downstairs and see everyone sitting at the table even C. He had a plate of fried eggs, toast, sausage and grits all costed in hot sauce. Everyone else was smiling and talking. For the first time in over a week C was smiling and laughing with everyone else.
Nora: I'm just saying I thought you were a ghost Pyrrha! Is that really crazy?
Pyrrha: Well if that sounds normal to you, I think I missed a lot.
C: Well I became a cyborg. You missed that.
Pyrrha: Really?
C changes to his REM form and holds up a hand. He then takes a bite of his food before seeing Ryuko and Yang.
C: About time. I thought you two would've slept forever. Though you two did look to comfortable to wake up.
C smirks at them and Ryuko flips him the bird before walking up and kissing his cheek. She sits down on his right side and Yang sits on his left. They fill up their plates and start eating. C gets up, pours himself another cup of coffee, and sits back down.
X: Well not to bring the mood down, but what do we do now C? Zed left a mark on the dimension and I think no one will argue that one. House and Noth are both gone and now you've control over reality. So what now?
C sighs and looks out the window the once clear sky now has an overcast. He sips his coffee before turning back to X.
C: I suppose I've got to become the leader again, and I suppose we go back to protecting the multiverse. But if I've learned anything it's that I can't do that alone. Even if I'm stronger than before I can't expect to have everything go smoothly just because I'm doing it. So I think we need more people.
E: You're suggesting recruiting people?
C: Yeah. I mean the next surge of elementals is already upon us. Arsenic, Ryuko, Yin, Ito, Hikari, and even Zed's disciples are proof of that.
X: True but you made Ryuko an elemental when you recklessly gave her your blood.
C: I didn't change her DNA. I just awoken a dormant part of her. Which is why I think we should keep some of my blood to test people with.
Krystal: That... doesn't sound safe.
X: No if it hurts people we just need to purge it from their bodies. It's not actually that deadly if we've got the equipment.
Ohma: Do you?
X: Of course. If I can reinsert all of C's veins in less than a minute then I can remove blood even faster.
Raven: Do I even want to know what he means by "reinsert all of your veins"?
E: No probably not. That shit was gross.
Ruby, Arsenic, Summer: SWEAR!
E rolls his eyes and takes a bite of his toast.
Yang: Um...so I have a question.
C: What's up Sunshine?
Yang: Can I join?
Everyone seems a little shocked at that.
C: Really? I mean I'd be glad to have you, but why?
Yang: Well I wanted to be a huntress so I could go get wrapped up in as many adventures as possible, and help people along the way.
C: I remember that. You said that at Mountain Glenn when Oobleck asked about why we wanted to be hunters.
Yang: Well back home I don't think I'll be able to have nearly as many adventures as I could if I'm here.
C: Well Yang Xiao Long, welcome to the Breed. We've got medical, dental, and an almost limitless supply of money.
C holds out his hand and Yang takes it.
Summer: C, are you sure you're ready to go back out there? If you need time it's fine.
C: No. There are two things I need to do before I'm ready. The first one is actually right in this room. Right, Neo?
C looks behind him in the corner of the room and makes his soul appear. It glows red before in the corner a pink emblem appears.
Okay I don't know how the fuck do I describe this thing without seeming stupid or pretentious so there's a picture, just imagine it's pure pink. It's cool looking at least. Here ya go my mediocre photo editing skills actually came in handy again. Neo's emblem is sick no joke.
Immediately Neo reveals herself and then Yang instantly takes a knife off the table and throws it at her. Neo catches it and take off out the room. C jumps up and chases her and everyone does the same. Arsenic dogs into the floor and then pops out behind Neo. He makes the ground under turn to quicksand, but she shatters and then he's pulled into a headlock with a knife to his throat as C and everyone catch up.
Yang: You better let go of him or I swear to-
C: Let's all calm down! Neo even if you slit his throat I'll still be able to save him, but if you do you won't be leaving here alive. I didn't call you out to fight you or kill you. I knew you were here the whole time.
Yang: You knew?!
C: Of course I did. I know where everyone is at all times in here.
Weiss: Talk about an invasion of privacy.
C: This is my universe! Not the point! Neo if you wanted it you would have tried to kill us already. And if I wanted I could have killed you back when you fought alongside Zed. So let's just both come to the realization that neither of us wants to kill each other.
Yang: I could give a go at it!
C: Yang! Please calm down before you do get Arsenic hurt!
Yang looks at Arsenic and sees his eyes wide with fear. She nods at C so he turns back towards Neo.
C: So to put this simply. I know I've got something you want. And at the moment you definitely have someone I want. If you're willing to not hurt him, I promise you no one will hurt you. Agreed?
Neo nods, but judging by the look in her eyes it's obvious she doesn't trust him at all. C reaches behind himself and puts his hand in a portal. He pulls out Neo's parasol and Roman's hat. He shows them to Neo and tosses them at her. She lets go of Arsenic and takes her parasol and Roman's hat. Arsenic runs to C and C hugs the kid gently. He then picks him up and hands him to Yang. She holds him tight and glares at Neo.
C: Where are you going?
Neo turns around and glares at C.
C: There are no exits to this place. Not unless I make them. So where are you planning on going?
Neo thinks about it for a moment before clicking her tongue in annoyance.
C: I'll send you back to REM if you want, but can I make a suggestion?
Neo turns to him and moves her hand in a circle motion telling him to hurry up.
C: Join us.
Yang: What?!
Ruby: Onii-chan?
Neo's eyes widen in shock at the offer.
C: If you go back to REM you're still wanted and it's not like you have anything to go back to. Roman was the closest thing you had to family and he's not there anymore. I know I did you wrong the last time we met. Let me make it up to you. If you join us you'll have food, a home, all the money you could want, and friends. Well I can promise you at least my friendship, I can't speak for everyone else.
Neo takes her hands and performs sign language.
Neo: Why should I? How do I know this isn't a trick?
C: I can't make you join, but I'm trying to make up for what I did. I might not have killed Roman, but I'd prefer if I could at least give you a better life. And if it doesn't work out you can always try to kill me, but I don't think these guys will let you get away with it.
Neo looks at everyone and then looks back at C.
Neo: What makes you think they'll accept me?
C: Because I do. You're a skilled fighter. Somewhere in there is a hero if you're willing to try and bring it out. Or you can go back to a world that wants to lock you up for the rest of your life. In the end it's up to you. So what do you say?
Neo points to her mouth in annoyance.
C: It's an expression. Are you in or not?
Neo thinks about it before nodding her head.
C: Then it's settled. Neopolitan you're our first new recruit.
Yang: Are you sure about this?
C: If you don't want to trust her that's fine, but have faith in me. And at least give her a chance. C'mon Neo I'll show you around.
Neo follows C as he gives a tour of the mansion. They stop in front of a room three doors down from his room.
C: Here you can use this room. Give it some time and I'm sure the others will come around to you.
Neo: Thanks.
C: No problem. Now I've got to go do something. If anyone bothers you don't hesitate to come find me, and don't kill anyone.
Neo: Don't let anyone give me a reason.
C: Please?
Neo: Whatever.
C: I'll take what I can get
C heads back downstairs and outside. X, Twist, Krystal, Ohma, Ito, Yang, and Ryuko are all in the living room and see him leave. They follow him and watch as he steps up to the sword embedded in the ground. C grabs the handle with his left hand. Twist quickly zaps over to him and shoots him with lightning making him fly back. He lands on his feet and then looks at Twist in confusion.
C: What the hell?
Twist: What are you doing?!
C: Letting go.
Twist: You can't move that! That's his soul weapon, if you move it we'll never be able to bring him back!
C: His soul is gone Twist. We all saw it shatter. Now get out of my way, please.
Twist pulls his bow off his back and separates it into two daggers.
Twist: You're going to have to make me!
C steps forward and Twist surrounds himself in lightning. C dashes towards the sword, but Twist jumps in front of him and slices. C back steps and then teleports behind him. Twist quickly sends lightning at C, but his body morphs into stone as he reaches for the blade. Twist uses all the lightning he can to tackle C away from the blade. They roll on the ground before C grabs Twist and slams him into the floor. The ground itself wraps around him and traps him.
C: I have to do this. For myself. I have to let him go for him to move on.
Twist: Who cares what you need?! Why does everything revolve around you?! WHAT MAKES YOU THE ONE IN CHARGE?!
C: BECAUSE UNLIKE YOU AND SO MANY OTHERS I HAVE THE STRENGTH TO DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE! No matter how much I don't want to. Because I care too much about everyone else, and Noth deserves rest. One day you'll see that, but for now you'll have to be content with hating me.
C walks to the blade and grips the handle with his left hand. He pulls the sword free and immediately it lets loose a stream of fire. The blade cracks and glows before turning to ash leaving only the handle and hilt. A small ball of fire floats where the blade once stood. It floats up before rocketing towards the crowd of people all watching. It stops right in front of Yang and just floats there. She looks up at C and he gently nods at her. She touches it and the flame is absorbed into her hand. She looks down at it before just seeming confused.
Yang: I don't feel that different.
C: Yeah, we'll have to put you through a little training before you do.
C looks over at Twist and let's him out of the ground. He glares at C before throwing a bolt of lightning at him and then disappearing in a flash. X's phone beeps and he looks at it.
X: He's left the universe, and currently in MHA.
Another beep goes off and X taps his phone a little before pocketing it.
X: His tracker just went offline.
Krystal: I'll track him down.
C: No. Let him go.
Krystal: But he's just a kid!
C: Is he? Last I checked he's been ten for longer than I've been alive. If he needs help he'll reach out, until then leave him be. He needs time to grieve.
C waves his hand and a statue of Noth appears where the sword once stood. C smiles and then puts the hilt of the sword in a portal.
C: Now I guess I better go get House.
That sentence catches everyone off guard.
Ohma: He's kinda fucking dead.
C: Pfft. You seriously think that? I've known House almost my whole life, and I know what his soul feels like. I can still feel it, so I'm going to go track him down.
Ryuko: You sure it's him?
C: Positive. X I'm taking my first mission! You're in charge until I get back.
X: Got it. Should I send the non-members home?
C: Oh shit! I gotta fix time outside the universe.
C clenches his right fist and it glows white before it shifts to a red color. He then unclenches his fist and sighs.
C: Okay done. Now let's get everyone out of my pocket universe. Everyone inside!
They all head inside and C closes the door. When he opens it again it now leads to the snowy mountain he built the place on in KlK. He then walks through the house until he gets to the dining room. He walks through into the room and then into the next room. There his form automatically changes to his REM form and he keeps going until he reaches the front door. He opens it and sees Patch. He goes back through the dining room and into the KlK side of the home. He then dusts his hands off.
C: Done. I guess I better get going.
Ryuko walks up to him and whispers in his ear.
C: You sure?
She nods.
C: Are you really okay with that?
Ryuko: Yes. Now go.
C nods and then heads upstairs with Ryuko. They get to the door they were looking for and knock. They hear someone walking up to the door before it opens up revealing Yang.
Yang: Hey, what's up-
She is cut off by C grabbing her by the waist, pulling her in close, and kissing her. She stiffens up at first and looks at Ryuko who nods her head. Yang kisses back as she wraps her arms around his neck. They both separate for air and Yang chuckles.
Yang: You have no idea how much I missed that.
Ryuko: Well you won't have to miss it much anymore. I guess I don't mind letting you date him. To be honest it's all his fault. When he shared his memories about you with me he also shared his feelings.
Yang: What does that mean?
Ryuko smirks before walking up and kissing Yang with the same passion C just did. Yang again freezes, but quickly melts into it as well. Ryuko pulls away with a smirk still on her face.
Ryuko: You taste like strawberries.
Yang: You taste like lemons.
C: Heh we can call you both Strawberry Lemonade. Wait what do I taste like?
Ryuko: It's different for almost every form.
C: Really?
Yang: Yeah. Right now you tasted like cherries, but back on Remnant you tasted like mint.
Ryuko: And when we first started dating you tasted like coffee and dark chocolate.
C: Huh...neat.
Yang: So Rockstar how's it feel to have a harem?
C: I do not have a harem! I have two girls who both share my unconditional love. I'm not trying to build an army of women I'll have to micromanage.
Yang: Aw come on don't be like that. It'll be fun.
C: Fun for you maybe, only because they won't be after your attention.
Ryuko: You make women sound like children.
C: With some it's hard to tell the difference. Kinda like when we first met. You were trying to be all tough, but it only took me about a week to get through your shell.
Ryuko: Whatever!
Ryuko turns in a huff with her cheeks red and puffed. C hugs her from behind and kisses the top of her head.
C: Aw come on Geareyes, you know I love you. After all Ito exist right?
Yang: Hey speaking of the future people, Yin's my daughter right?
C:...yeah. What gave it away?
Yang: I saw her explode against some monsters back when Zed came. It was like looking in a mirror.
C: Yeah she's our daughter. She definitely got her looks from you. Apparently all my genes must be recessive because they both look so much like you. Though that's probably for the best.
Ryuko punches C in the arm.
Ryuko: No more talking bad about yourself. We've been over this.
C: Yes ma'am. Ow.
Ryuko: Besides Ito definitely has your nose and build. He might not be as muscular as you, but he's a lot larger than me.
Yang: Yeah and Yin has your smile not to mention the highlights.
C: Yeah I guess. Welp I've got to get ready for the mission. Hold the fort down for me?
Yang: Of course.
Ryuko: No problem.
C kisses Ryuko and then Yang before heading off to his room. He changes into a white shirt, blue jeans, black combat boots, and black sap gloves. Right as he's looking for a good jacket, knocks come from the door.
C: Come in.
The door opens and inside steps Summer. She smiles and looks at the room as she walks in. In her hands is something wrapped in wrapping paper.
Summer: Hey Hero. I made you a little something. I had everyone pitch in on the design.
She hands C the wrapped object and he opens it up. Inside is a cloak much like Ruby and Summer wear, but this one was black with red underneath. He pulls it out the paper. It's smooth to the touch, but not like silk. It's more of a very well made cotton.
Summer: It's a mix of polyester and cotton that way it's breathable, and water resistant. Everyone said you didn't like being hot, do I couldn't just make it out of wool or cotton like mine or Ruby's. The colors are the two everyone sees you wear the most, but no one could agree on what should be inside or out so it's reversible. X also sewed in some light strands of metal he called auditelon, I think? He wanted it to be something stronger, but it was to tough to sew into it without making it stiff. So it's supposed to be able to take shotgun pellets and light machine gun fire, but be careful because it can't take rifle shots. At least that's what X said.
C looks at the cloak more before turning to Summer and hugging her.
C: I love it. Thank you.
Summer: Well let's make sure it actually fits.
Summer takes it, wraps it around C, and pushes the pin that holds it closed in. She circles him and makes sure it isn't bunched up anywhere before making sure the hood can fit, but it only worked if she pushed his hair into the cloak, not that he minded. She then backs up and looks at her handiwork. The cloak goes down to C's knees, perfectly wraps around him, and the hood goes down just far enough to cover his face in a blanket of shadows.
Summer: I'd call it a complete success!
C looks in the mirror and sees himself. Summer takes a standing fan in the room and puts it near him at an angle. She then cuts it on making his cloak blow in the wind. C shifts into his REM form and activates Ruby's semblance. Black rose petals with red undertones blow out behind him. Summer squeals and jumps up and down like a child. C chuckles and puts the hood down before turning off Ruby's semblance and the fan.
C: Thank you, mom.
Summer stops and then throws herself at C wrapping him tightly in a hug. He hugs her back as someone knocks on the open door. C turns and sees Ito.
C: Hey Threads. What's up?
Ito: I was wondering if I could come with you on your mission?
C: Yeah sure. It shouldn't be a long one though, we're just getting House and coming home. Assuming nothing goes wrong, we should take at most a day.
Ito: Yeah, but I'd still like the chance to prove myself.
C: You-
Ito: I know I don't have to, but I want to. When are we leaving?
C: Twenty minutes.
Ito: Got it.
Ito leaves the room. C looks down and still sees Summer hugging him tight with a smile on her face.
C: Okay as nice as this is, I do need to make sure I've got everything I need. So can you please let go?
Summer sighs, but she does get off of him. They both leave the room and head in separate directions. C stays upstairs and then knocks on a door. Ten seconds pass with no indication of anyone coming to answer it. C knocks again. This time someone opens the door and it's-
C: Neo. How would you like a mission?
Neo: What did you have in mind?
C: I've got to go get an old friend from god knows where, while he's currently in who knows how much danger, and I could really use back up from someone who understands crime.
Neo: Why specifically crime?
C: Long story short the friend we're saving isn't known for being on the right side of the law all the time.
Neo sighs.
Neo: When do we leave?
C: Seventeen minutes. Bring anything you think you'll need. I've got money covered.
With that C leaves and let's her do her thing. He heads downstairs and then into the basement where X is typing away on a keyboard in front of a circular machine.
C: Did you make the modifications?
X: Yes when you go through these portals they won't protect you from changing forms. Though I don't particularly understand why you'd want this.
C: Versatility for the future. Thank you X.
X: Think nothing of it. Where are you going?
C checks the monitor in front of X and then points to a universe. X clicks it and a portal opens. C then walks over to a machine and types some quick things into it. It produces a card and then about a ten million in cash. C takes out his wallet and put it in where the cash mysteriously doesn't make the wallet swell. He then goes to Locus and checks the engine. It doesn't run off gas or oil, but elements.
X: Need a refill?
C: No it's full. Shouldn't need one for about seven months assuming we use it everyday.
X: Good. I don't want to rebuild it again.
C: How many times will I have to apologize for that?
X doesn't respond and instead smirks as he sips his coffee. C lines the car up with the portal, puts the top down, and sits in the driver's seat waiting for Ito and Neo. After another twelve minutes they come downstairs along with everyone else.
Ruby: Be safe!
Ohma: Don't die.
Summer: Make sure you eat well!
Satsuki: Try to hurry back Ryuko doesn't do well without you.
Ryuko pouts and turns away from her sister. C jumps out the car and hugs her before kissing her on the lips. She tries to deepen it, but C pulls away making her cross her arms.
Shiketsu: Are you sure you don't want me to come?
C: It's fine Sis. Try to get the feel of your human form. Besides I'm not going alone.
Ito jumps in the front passenger seat and Neo jumps in the backseat and lays down.
Yang: You're seriously taking her?!
C: Calm down Sunshine. I'll be fine. Worse case scenario she dips and we never see her again, but I'm confident she won't leave us out to dry.
Yang: If you say so.
C: I do.
C kisses her on the lips and then hugs Arsenic, Ruby, and Yin before jumping in the car.
X: I'll assign missions while you're away.
C nods at X then looks over his shoulder at everyone else.
C: C ya later!
He guns the gas and takes off into the portal.
Weiss: Are we not going to question that he kissed both Ryuko and Yang.
Yang: Uh...yeah well you see.
Meanwhile C, Ito, and Neo come out the portal and look around. Their on what looks like the lawn of a church. C and Ito both glow a little, but it quickly dies down.
Ito: What was that?
C: Our physiology probably changed, but right now let's find House.
C focuses and suddenly an absolute speed demon of a car rockets down the road with a pink topless Humvee and a swarm of police cars chasing it. Neo taps his shoulder and points.
