Come At Me With Everything You've Got.
~~~Vic's POV~~~
Mia and I got out of the car and started walking up the walkway very slowly. I pulled Mia close to me and noticed that she was shaking in fear.
"Woah. Are you okay?" I asked her, stopping in place.
"No. I don't think I can do this. I don't think I can go in there and face that...that...monster!" she exclaimed in frustration.
I pulled her into my and stroked her hair. "It's okay. I'm here and I won't let anything happen to you."
"Promise?" she mumbled into my chest.
"Promise." I nodded. Pulling back to look at her I brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and kissed her forehead.
"Now come on let's get this over with." I told her. She nodded and I wrapped my arm around her waist and led her to the door. She took a deep breath before opening the door and leading me in the rest of the way.
I looked around at all the people who were standing around and talking animatedly.
"Woah." I whispered.
"I know." Mia whispered back to me. "Um come on." she closed the door and led me deeper into the house.
We stopped in front of two couples who were talking amongst themselves. One pair looked completely unfamiliar to me but the other pair looked a bit familiar. I looked over them again and noticed the resemblance between them and Mia. Her parents.
"Hey dad, mom." Yup I was right.
They turned to look at us or more specifically at her I guess.
"Oh Mia! There you are we've been looking all over for you. Where were you?" her mom exclaimed. She seemed kinda nice.
"Yeah. Uh guys this is Vic." she gestured to me ignoring her mom's question.
They all snapped their gazes towards me, making me nervous. I'm not good with attention. I'm actually pretty shy around huge crowds so this is kinda awkward.
"Hi." I wave a little. Awkkwwwaarrrrdddd.
"Hello Vic I'm Mia's dad, James." He stuck out his hand and I shook it nodding. "And this is my wife Audrey." I shook her hand as well.
"James & Audrey?" I asked. Like James Dean and Audrey Hepburn?
"Yup like James Dean and Audrey Hepburn." he told me smiling at his wife who returned his smile.
"Mia dear Matt was looking for you I think he's in the kitchen." The woman from the other couple said.
"Oh alright. See you guys later then." she said waving and pulling me away from them quickly. "Now we avoid the kitchen by all means." she whispered.
She took me over to where the staircase was and pushed me through a hall close to it. She took me into a room and locked the door behind us.
She sighed, leaning on it and sliding down to the floor.
"Good they know we're in the house at least."
I walked over to her and sat down next to her. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah as long as I don't see him or at least he doesn't try to make contact with me I'm fine."
I nodded. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and she leaned her head on my shoulder.
"I wish my life could go back to plain and boring. It'd be much better than going through hell everyday." she confessed to me.
"I know and I want to apologize for being apart of that hell. I'm sorry." I apologized.
"It's alright, you're forgiven. For now." I looked down at her face to see her smirking at me. It made me grin to see her being playful with me. it felt good.
We broke out of our gaze when we heard a toilet flush. We both stiffened and held our breath.
She gazed over at a door at the far corner of the room, which I just noticed is the entertainment slash game room. We waited in anticipationfor the person to get it. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
When the person finally stepped out they froze as they saw us. I felt Mia relax and let out the breath she was holding causing me to do the same.
"What are you doing here?" she asked clearly confused.
"Oh um well I was trying to get away from all of that out there and I stumbled into here then I needed to go to the bathroom so yeah." he rambled.
"Okkaaayyy. Now explain why you're in my house in the first place." she demanded.
"Oh well my parents got invited bu yours." he stated simply.
"You're parents work with mine? I didn't know that."
"Well we didn't really get a chance to get to know eachother when we bumped into eachother.
I was confused now. They knew eachother? I looked over at the guy and scanned over him. Hmm he seems familiar as well.
"Oh um Vic this is Cameron. Cameron, Vic." Mia introduced us.
I nodded my head at him, "Hey."
Oh I know who he is. He's that ice cream kid who was flirting with Mia when I bought her ice cream.
"Ah It's your jealous boyfriend." He sid in realization as he finally movecd from his spot to walk over to us.
I looked at Mia to see her blushing, "We're not really together." she said trying to hide her blush. I smiled at her cuteness.
"Really? Could've fooled me." He said sitting cross legged in front of us. "So what brings you two in here?"
"Well we wanted to escape from the crowd out there." Mia lied.
Cameron scoffed, "Please. You're the worst liar, Mia, anyone can see right through you like a ghost."
She rolled her eyes, "Whatever I don't need to explain myself to you."
He held his hands up in defeat, "Hey chill I was just curious."
She looked at him seriously for a while before breaking into a smile. She sighed, "Fine we're hiding from this guy named Matt."
"Ha! I knew I could get you to tell me!" He pointed at her laughing.
She slapped his arm playfully, "Jerk!"
He laughed rubbing his arm, "Geez abusive. But anyways why are you hiding from Matt?' He asked raising an eyebrow at us.
"Cause he's fucking psycho man!" she whisper yelled.
"Hell yeah!" I agreed.
Cameron shrugged, "I guess. I don't know the guy all too well."
"Mia! Vic! Cameron! Matt! Elissa! Dinner!" Someone yelled from somewhere in the house. Mia groaned.
"This dinner is gonna be a bitch!" she yelled not caring if anyone heard anymore.
"Hey don't worry I'll be right next to you the whole time." I tried to comfort her. She smiled at me.
"Yeah and if you want I'll sit by your other side so the freak won't get to." Cameron suggested.
I agreed with him. I'd rather have him sit by her than Matt.
We all got up and went into the kitchen quickly to find good seats where we could sit together. We had to run past all the adults almost tripping them to get the seats we wanted.
When everyone was seated I looked around the table discreetly to find who this Matt person was. I found him immediately. He was sitting by the couple that was talking to Mia's parents earlier and another teenage girl with black layered hair covering her face as she leaned forward.
They both looked so eerily familiar, even though I couldn't see the girl's face, that I was starting to get a headache.
My staring was cut cshort by a voice at the head of the table. I turned towards the person to see James, Mia's dad, addressing all the adults. We all ignored his speech silently.
I was lost in my thoughts trying to decipher where I could've seen Matt and the girl from when I felt Mia's hand grip mine. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at her. She gave me a sheepish smile and I grinned at her.
James finished his speech and we all started eating. The adults talked and ate whil most of us teens just ate silently. Cameron and Mia talked with eachother also including me in the conversation occationaly. Not that it mattered if they did since I kept my mind occupied with Matt and the girl.
I really need to remember and figure out who they are before my head explodes. Cam, Mia, and I finished eating and excused ourselves from the table.. When we made out of the kitchen Mia sighed in relief.
"Thank god that's over." she said wipping imagionary sweat from her forehead.
I chuckled, "Yeah can you say awkward."
"Yeah what was up with that. Did you guy's notice how met kept glaring at us the whole time. Oh and when Mia held your hand and kept smiling at you I literallysaw the smoke coming out of his ears." Cameron laughed.
"Ha yeah I saw that he's---" I was cut short by Mia shushing us.
"Come on I uh need fresh air."
We went out back "Okay now we can talk freely. Somewhat." Mia shrugged.
We talked and joked around with eachother until we heard a loud cough behind us. We all turned at the sound. Matt stepped out of the shadows.
"Mia." he ground out through clenched teeth not even acknowledging Cam and I's presence.
Mia stepped back a little and I took the liberty of pushing her behind me and away from Matt's view. He glared up at me.
"Vic." he said simply.
I paused everything at that moment. Wait a minute.
I jumped up at him, "You fucker! It was you! You landed me in the hospital!" I yelled socking him in the face! Hard!
I heard gasps behind me.
Hey guys so I wrote this real quick in between my mom bugging me about watching a movie and all my birthday stuff. Thanks for all the love and support and all the birthday wishes you sent my way.
