Jamal wanted me and i wanted him, sure we met at what i might say the wrong time but we found our way back to each other, with love leading the way.
i stared at Jamal from the balcony with Muazzam, our 5 year old, trying so hard to teach him how to bounce a basket ball.
my heart swelled with so much adoration i didnt even know it could house. Muazzams twin brother died just a week before he was brought into the world, my heart ached, almost got into postpatrum depression but i had Jamal to remind me Allahs favours and how blessed we are to have Muazzam. My hand went to my seven month old belly rubbing in circular motions. i laid back into the chair and stretched my swollen legs onto the chair beside me. my body ached but my heart was at peace.
Ive been planning to have mom come live with us since Ya Adnan married 2 months ago, only for me to hear that Ya Juhaifa is already building her a place in his compound, where he is planning to move his family not far from us here. Hauwa and her two adorable daughters. I was happy about it but of course Mom turned down the offer a million times already claiming shes not old yet and will survive just on her own with the help of her maid, we all keened deaf to that.
I've been working with Jamals fathers new company since after my service and i was offered a Job but currently on maternity leave.
Dearest Arfa is making money moves right and left and is yet to settle, though her and her American boyfreind are still together. since my wedding she didnt come to Nigeria again.
Mahra has 3 kids with a fourth one on the way, She claimed it was an accident but who cares, if anything accidental babies get more love than planned ones.
Ameer married a year ago to Muhibba, who could have thought, she never made things easy for Ameer but with his consistency and charming nature he eventually won her over, and they my freinds are the definition of a power couple.
"Becareful Baban Muazzam! its not by force" i Yelled loud enough for the both of them to hear, Muazzam turned his head almost immediately and ran into the house leaving his father there with the ball, he looked at me and shook his head and i stuck my tongue out to him. I could here Muazzams footsteps sprinting to me and that enough gave me more reasons to live, my eyes still on Jamal he blew me a kiss and i pretended to dodge, in response he clutched his chest as if in pain, i bursted out laughing and exactly then Muazzam hugged me from behind ranting about how much his father is stressing him, i could barely make out all he was saying so i kept nodding and throwing in an 'uhuh' or 'sorry'. This is all i could have ever asked for and more
