episode 7: DEAD CALM
part 2
ren was deep in her thoughts when sarah leaned over to her and said, "welcome to crackhead wasteland," which made ren look out the window and see a place familiar to her.
𝙁𝙇𝘼𝙎𝙃𝘽𝘼𝘾𝙆: 𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼...
"okay ren you stay in the car, daddy has to get something," ren's father said to her six year old self.
ren looked out of the window and saw a trailer that was quite big, it was white with a grey roof.
she noticed at the front door, there was a man waiting for what she was guessing her father, and she was right. her father walked up to the man and took a bag of some white substance that ren didn't know what it was.
ren's father smiled and handed the man some money, before walking back to the car, ren quickly looked down as her father got in and drove away from the house.....
𝙁𝙇𝘼𝙎𝙃𝘽𝘼𝘾𝙆 𝙊𝙑𝙀𝙍...
"i dont know about this man," pope said worriedly
"dude why are we at barry's?" ren asked jj who simply ignored her and got out,
"this'll only take a second,"
jj walked up to the house as john b shouted to him,
"where you going?"
"yo soy justicia," jj said back as he walked into the house
"did you glean anything from that?" pope asked
"you know somebody should probably..." kiara stated
"yeah i got it," john b said getting out,
"i'm coming with you," ren said getting out as john b lead her to the house that jj was now in.
as they got in they saw jj walking around messing the place up, looking for something.
"yeah, so what's your plan, slick?" john b asked
"well, as thou hath stealeth from us, we shall stealeth from ye," jj said horribly,
"what?" ren laughed
"yeah that kinda got lost in translation," john b fixated on jj's horrible accent,
"an eye for an eye, john b," jj said
"yeah,yeah, yeah jj. that's great but what happens when you rob from a drug dealer?" ren asked
"yeah! he knows who we are!" john b said
"look, ren, i'm not scared of this guy," jj said
"jj, don't-" john b started but jj was already gone into the back room.
"jj, babe what are you doing?" ren asked
"getting even!" he shouted from the back room, ren looked at john b worriedly before jj walked out with a bag, filled with cash.
"all right, took care of business," he said
john b walked up to him and grabbed him, "hey look at me! if you keep going down this road you're gonna end up like your dad-" he started before ren yelled at him
"john b!"
"you watch your mouth, man," jj said bitterly before continuing, "aren't you tired of being messed with?"
"that's not the point, jj." john b said
"the point is-" ren started before jj cut her off by yelling,
"cause i am" he said
"watch the way you're speaking to her, jj. she's your girlfriend, you wouldn't want to lose her," john b warned
"i'm not putting it back," jj said before walking out,
ren and john b followed jj outside,
"all right, so, we're looking at five grand each, for reparations for putting us through that bullshit, sorry about that yall, ren me and you split it," jj said
"so, that's what we're doing now? we're robbing drug dealers?" kiara asked
"this barry guy's gonna find out, and he's gonna come after us," sarah said
"yes, he will. okay this is not the time to start wilin' out!" pope said to jj,
"how'd you guys like having a gun pulled on you?" jj asked,
"relax," john b got up in jj's face which made jj get angrier.
"he had it right here on you, bro," jj said
"look. we've gotta go get that gold, okay? just give me that shit," john b grabbed the bag so jj slammed him up against the van,
"do you feel like a tough guy, huh?" john b asked which made ren get irritated,
"john, stop," she warned
"what are you gonna do, when he comes after us?" john b asked jj.
"we punch him, in the throat,"jj said sternly.
"yeah good fucking idea, jj," john b said sarcastically
"i'm not putting it back," jj grabbed the bag before getting in the van looking at everybody, "you guys getting in or what?" but nobody moved, not even ren.
jj got out of the van and looked at ren and frowning, before looking away.
"what?" he asked
"we're sick of your shit," john b said,
"oh, my shit?" jj asked
"yeah. yeah, your shit," john b answered
"your pulling gun's on people shit," kiara said,
"you acting like a maniac-" pope started before ren cut him off,
"pope! he took the fall for you man! you know why? because jj cares about his friends more than anything! we both owe so much money!" ren yelled at him,
"i'm gonna pay you guys back, and i didn't ask you guys to do that!" he yelled back at her,
"i just did! pay it back," jj said before looking at ren, "right here, right now, by myself," jj said before walking back a little,
"you know what? that's exactly what i'm gonna do, go off by myself," he said before looking at ren, "you coming?" he asked her.
she nodded before walking over to him as he grabbed her hand and walked away.
jj looked at ren before saying, "you didn't have to come,"
"that's right, i didn't. but i did, you know why? cause we're endgame," ren smiled at him, brushing her thumb alongside his cheek,
"me and you, against the world," jj smiled before pulling the girl into a kiss.
this kiss, it wasn't hungry or needy like the others, it was passionate and soft, it felt like the first time they kissed, how the fireworks went off. amazing.
they pulled apart before meeting eye-to-eye again and smiling.
"here's your share, i can come when you take it if you want?" jj asked giving her half of the money,
"no it's okay, you go give it to your dad, i'll give it to mine and we meet back here at five okay?" ren asked
"okay," he smiled before letting go of her, "i love you," he walked away smiling at her 'i love you too'.
ren got home and noticed her dad was actually not passed out on the couch and instead cooking food.
"hey dad," ren knocked on the wall.
"ren? what're you doing here?" he asked her,
"i, uh. i got the money," she smiled weakly.
"yeah, and i quit smoking," he said sarcastically,
"no, uh dad, i'm serious," she put her bag of the money down.
he walked to the living room and opened the bag, pulling out a bit of the money.
"well i'll be damned. you did it ren. you actually did it," he hugged her a little,
"beer?" he asked her,
"no i'm uh i'm good thanks," she smiled
"i am so proud of you right now ren!" her dad laughed,
"does jj have money? to pay his half?" her father asked
"yeah, we split it," she said
"okay well, are you staying the night?" he asked her,
"no i uh, me and jj will probably stay up all night running around or surfing," she smiled,
"okay well sit down and stay here for a bit," he smiled,
"okay, uh, thanks," she sat down in front of him but checked her phone and saw she had like five missed calls off kiara.
she didn't call her back and instead put her phone away.
it was later that evening, and ren had walked to the spot she was supposed to be meeting jj and waited for him, but he didn't come.
she waited for about another hour before she got up and started walking, until a car beeped at her, she turned around and saw kiara's car, her and pope in the front. she decided to get in while they talked about the supplies, telling her about how john b decided to go fishing with ward tomorrow.
they arrived back at the chateau, ren still wondering where jj was.
"we gotta be done by my scholarship interview in the morning," pope said,
"okay, well we gotta focus," kiara said,
"i know. it's gonna be fine," pope answered. "we got john b and jj inside the well, with me and ren up top, you and sarah will be outside transporting,"
they got out of the car as they still spoke, "yeah, we got this," kiara said
"cool," ren sighed
"uh, i got a winch," pope said
"yeah,"
"that tin can hold over like... 200, 300, ponds," pope said enthusiastically
"thanks," kiara thanked
"uh what for?" pope asked her
"stranding us. you know, making us make up with sarah," kiara smiled which made ren smile, thinking of that night.
"what makes you think that was me?" pope asked
all of the sudden, whirring can be heard and lights suddenly turn on, coming from the garden of the chateau.
"what the hell?" ren whispered
"who the hell is that?" kiara asked
they walked round back to see a bunch of lights and decorations surrounding a gigantic hot tub with jj in it,
"jj?" ren asked
"what did you do jj?" pope asked concerned
"i got a jet going straight into my butt right now," jj laughed, usually ren would laugh too but she knew that something wasn't right.
"yall should get in immediately, you hear me?" jj asked pouring wine into a glass that was being held by a flamingo floaty, "salud!" he yelled raising the glass into the air before drinking it.
"how much did this cost?" pope asked
"uh...." jj thought for a second, listing all the things before answering, "pretty much all of it, yeah." which made everybody's mouths drop.
"all of it?" pope asked in shock,
"yeah. all of it,"
"you spent all the money in one day?" pope asked in disbelief.
"yeah, burned a hole right through my pocket, but it's mean like, come on guys, like, look at this! finest in jet-based massage therapy, that's what they told me," jj laughed,
"kie, what?" jj asked, "ren, babe come on like get your bathing suit on and get in, or don't, just take off your clothes and get in if you know what i'm saying," jj laughed which made ren feel terrible for the blonde boy.
"what? can't a man have a little luxury in life?" he asked them,
"come on, all this scirmpin' and scrapin'.." jj said taking off the sunglasses, ren could see how broken he was, he needed somebody, "i mean like... guys, we- you only live once, right?" he asked them, "enough of this emotional shit. get in the cats ass. come on," jj told them,
"in the what?" ren asked,
"in the cats ass, that's what i named her," jj smiled.
"oh, hey, yo, i almost forgot!" jj said excitedly before doing something which made the lights change colour and turn into a disco, "huh? yeah, that's right, i know. disco mode. that's right baby!" he yelled happily.
"are you kidding me?" pope said angrily and disappointed, "you could've paid for restitution,"
"or literally given it to any charity!" kiara yelled at him aswell,
"guys. guys. stop," ren warned them, noticing how frustrated jj was getting.
"or better yet, you could've helped us buy supplies to get the rest of the gold out of the well!" pope yelled
"okay, well, you know what? i didn't do that!" jj yelled standing up, revealing all the bruises on his stomach, that his father gave to him, "i got a hot tub! for my friends, i got a hot tub for my friends, you know what? no, screw friends! i got a hot tub for my family! and for my girlfriend!" he motioned over to ren
"jj," ren sighed,
"jj, what the hell?" kiara asked
"look what i did for you!" he yelled again
"jj!" ren said again,
"no, you stop being emotional. it's fine, okay?" jj looked down and started crying which made ren walk closer to the hot tub,
"i mean it's sweet right? everything-" he was cut off by a hug from ren, holding him tightly.
"i just couldn't do it," jj cried,
"i can't take him anymore!" he yelled into her shoulders,
"i know, j. i know," she cried with him aswell.
"i was gonna kill him," he cried,
both pope and kiara joined the two into the hug as they all sat there in a giant hug,
"i just wanna do the right thing," he sobbed
"i know," kiara said
it was later in the night, ren and jj were sitting on their bed in the chateau,
"hey jj?" ren asked
"yeah?" he answered,
"i'm gonna take a shower, you're welcome to do so to," she smiled at him,
"with you?" he asked,
"sure, why not?" she smiled and she walked into the bathroom with jj following her.
after their shower and sex they laid back on the bed in their clothes, and stared at the ceiling,
"i love you, ren," jj said
"i love you too, j," she smiled and turned to him,
"i'm gonna marry you someday," he said
"i do," she smiled,
"i do too," he rubbed their noses together before falling asleep in her arms.
