Jamie and Greyson woke up a few times during the night but we were expecting that. It was now 7 in the morning and both Jamie and Greyson started crying again. I turned my head to look at Mouse who was getting out of his chair because I was in a lot of pain. "Here you go mommy" Mouse handed me Jamie and I started feeding her while Mouse changed Greyson's nappy. "You still in pain?" I nodded
"Yeah, it's normal though" Mouse sat down on the bed next to me caressing my cheek.
"She looks so fragile," Mouse said kissing her head. I nodded while starting to burp her. Mouse swapped me for Greyson and I started feeding him as he changed Jamie. Once Greyson was finished I handed him to Mouse who put him back in his cot.
"Will you help me?" I asked and Mouse walked over to me
"What do you need help with?"
"Getting up and going to the toilet" I replied as Mouse helped me sit up and stand up. I winced in pain every so often but we soon got through to the bathroom. Mouse helped me in the bathroom before helping me back into bed as Natalie walked in
"How's mommy doing?"
"Sore" I replied with a small laugh
"That's normal Jay's outside again" I raised my eyebrows
"It's 8 in the morning"
"That's Jay for you," Mouse said and I nodded.
"So baby girl and baby boy looks perfect and mommy let's see how you're doing" Natalie checked me out quickly
"I think that you should be able to go by lunchtime. Your little ones seem to be doing good so we're not worried about them but you're a paramedic you know everything" I nodded "Want me to send Jay in?"
"I guess we should" I sighed as Natalie handed me Jamie who started crying. Mouse took Greyson as we planned. I held her to my chest and she stopped crying with the contact of my skin. Natalie walked out and Jay walked in seconds after she left. "Jay it's 8 in the morning," I said as Jamie stretched and caught my jaw.
"How are you feeling?" Jay asked
"Sore but that's normal" I replied.
"I'm gonna go get us something to eat," Mouse said looking at Greyson. I nodded
"Can you get me something cold to drink?"
"Yeah"
"This is your niece. Jamie Alexandra Gerwitz" I handed her over to Jay and she started fussing
"Hey there Jamie I'm your uncle, Jay" I smiled watching Jay interact with Jamie. Mouse walked back in holding Greyson. He handed me a cold Fanta and I smiled.
"Jay turn around" Jay turned around and his eyes widened
"Wait there's 2" I nodded slowly
"Meet your nephew Greyson Boydd Gerwitz," I said with a smile as he handed me Jamie and took Greyson from Mouse. I kissed Jamie's head as Jay looked down at Greyson
"Hey there Greyson I'm your uncle Jay" I smiled as Jay's phone went. He handed Greyson to Mouse and kissed my head
"I've got to get to the district"
"Be safe big brother and don't tell anyone"
"I won't and always little sister" I smiled as Jay walked out and Will walked in with Mya behind him.
"Hey there big sister" I smiled
"Hey, there little brother" Mya sat on the bed next to me.
"This is your little sister Jamie" I helped Mya hold Jamie and Mouse walked around and crouched down in front of her.
"And this is your little brother Greyson" I took Jamie as Mouse helped her hold Greyson
"So this is my niece" I handed her to Will
"It is this is Jamie Alexandra Gerwitz." Will was the only one that knew we were having twins because he looked at my file when I asked him to find something out for me. We kept our sonograms to ourself after the first couple of appointments because it was obvious. Mouse soon handed Will Greyson and I smiled as Will interacted with Greyson and Jamie. Natalie walked in with a pile of papers
"These are all yours. I'll be up in a little while to get them" I smiled as Mouse took the papers. Will handed me both Jamie and Greyson
"Would you like me to keep Mya for a little or not?"
"Erm" I looked up Mouse
"It's up to you"
"We'll pick her up from you shortly if that's ok?"
"Yeah of course" Will left and Mouse put both Jamie and Greyson back into their cots before helping me out of bed and into the bathroom. He helped me get changed into the Black and White floral print short-sleeve nursing dress. I smiled and pulled my hair into a half up half down bun. I applied a little bit of makeup to hide the dark circles under my eyes and Mouse helped me put my flip flops on.
"I'll go get the car seats if you're ok up here"
"I'm fine if you put the outfits on the bed for me"
"Of course" Mouse helped me back through to the room and I walked over to Greyson's cot. I picked him up bouncing him slightly as I walked over to the bed. I lay Greyson down before getting him changed into his outfit. I put his little socks on him before placing him back into his cot. I picked Jamie up doing the exact same thing as I did with Greyson. I placed her back in her cot before grabbing the mits and slipping them onto both Jamie and Greyson's hands.
A set of hands wrapped around my waist as I stood looking down at Jamie and Greyson. I looked up to see Mouse standing behind me. I kissed him then went back to looking at our two perfect babies.
"Let's get you three home" Mouse kissed my head
"Can we stop at 51 and the district?"
"I thought 51 was on shift yesterday?"
"They're doing a double because they aren't working the parade."
"Yeah ok come on" Mouse picked Jamie up as I picked Greyson up. We walked over to the bed where Mouse had laid the car seats. I lay Greyson into the car seat on the left before buckling him in. I lay the cover over him before tucking it into the sides.
"Hey, you two ready to go?" Nat asked walking in.
"Yeah we are" Natalie took the paperwork
"Well you are free to go"
"Thanks, Nat" I grabbed the hospital bag and threw it over my shoulder as Mouse grabbed both car seats. I smiled
"I would have taken one"
"It's ok" Mouse started walking out as I took my phone out and took a picture of Mouse walking along the corridor.
We got to the car and Mouse placed the car seats in. I buckled Greyson's car seat in while Mouse buckled Jamie's in. I placed the hospital bag on the floor under Greyson's car seat. I climbed in the passenger side and buckled myself in.
"Where to first baby?"
"51?"
"Sounds good to me" I smiled as Mouse lay a hand on my thigh. We pulled up to 51 and I turned to face Mouse.
"So if I go in and say 'I found this baby boy outside' then you come in like 5 minutes after and say the same thing but baby girl because they still think we're having a girl"
"Sounds like a good plan to me" I got out of the car and walked around and unbuckled Greyson's car seat.
"Are you ready to meet all of your crazy aunties and uncles?" I kissed his head before pulling the car seat out
"I'll see you shortly" Mouse said
"Bye" I closed the door and walked up to the firehouse. I opened the door and Severide saw me walk-in
"Who's this little one?" I shrugged
"Found him under the safe haven sign"
"It's there for a reason I suppose"
"Yep," We walked into the common room and I lay the car seat on the table unbuckling Greyson. "Hey, there little man" I held him to my chest because he had just woken up.
"How old does he look?" Alex asked sitting next to me
"A day may be less" Mouse walked in as I said that
"I found this baby girl outside" Mouse placed Jamie's car seat next to Greyson's. I handed Greyson to Mouse before unbuckling Jamie and holding her to my chest.
"Hey there baby girl" I kissed her hand that came up to my jaw once again. Greyson started fussing in Mouse's arms.
"Ohh someone's a mommy's boy," Mouse said starting to rock Greyson who just wasn't having it.
"So which one is my niece and which one have you stolen?" Alex asked as I placed Jamie back into her car seat as Mouse handed me Greyson. I knew Adam must have told her I went into labour but I just hope she didn't tell anyone
"We haven't stolen any of them" I started bouncing Greyson
"So who's the second baby?"
"Ours" I muttered as Mouse handed me the cover which I threw over my shoulder before starting to feed Greyson
"Oh my god, you had twins" Stella and Alex hugged me avoiding Greyson.
"Meet Jamie Alexandra and Greyson Boydd" Alex took Jamie before passing her around the room until she got to Boden.
"Hey there Jamie" Boden started as I burped Greyson and handed him to Alex. Mouse rested a hand on my shoulder and I rested my hand on his.
"So who knew?"
"Us, Mya and Will"
"How did you keep it a secret this time?" Casey asked and I shrugged
"I honestly don't know" I replied as Boden handed me, Jamie. I started feeding her as Mouse started massaging my shoulders. I burped Jamie before placing her back into her car seat. I buckled her in as Alex whispered in my ear
"There's a surprise for you when you get home" I furrowed my brows as Mouse placed Jamie back into her car seat. I stood up as Mouse took both car seats off the table. Everyone hugged me and said their congratulations before we left. I told everyone that we were still to go to the district so not to talk to anyone about it. I buckled Grey's car seat into the car before climbing in myself.
"I can tell you're in pain do you want to go home?" I shook my head
"It's only the district we can head home after. Alex said there was a surprise for us when we got home"
"What kind of surprise?"
"Didn't say just said that's there's a surprise for you when you get home"
"Strange"
"It's Alex everything is strange"
"Ok that's true" I glanced back at Greyson and Jamie.
"Jay and Grey," I said and Mouse turned to look at me with furrowed eyebrows "Nicknames Jay and Grey"
"Yeah they sound good" We climbed out of the car and I unbuckled Grey. They might only be a few hours old but Jamie is definitely a daddy's girl and Greyson is definitely a mommy's boy. Mouse handed me the car seat grey stripy cover and I pulled it over the car seat before picking the car seat up.
"So how we doing this one?"
"Just walk up as normal"
"Ok I've got Jamie"
"I've got Greyson" We walked into the district and Trudy spotted us
"Katrina, Mouse get over here" We walked over to the front desk
"Let me see" We both placed the car seats on the desk at the same time
"Oh you two" Trudy got out from behind the desk and hugged us "Can I?"
"Yeah go ahead" Trudy pulled the cover down slightly so she could see their faces
"What's there names?"
"Jamie Alexandra and Greyson Boydd"
"Oh they're so cute. They're working the same case as yesterday yous might cheer them up" I smiled taking Greyson down from the desk we walked over to the gate and Mouse unlocked the gate pulling it open for me
"Why thank you" I laughed. We started walking up the stairs and I nodded to Mouse before placing Grey at the side next to the stairs for the time being.
"Hey look who it is" Atwater and Adam gave me a hug each as Mouse placed Jamie's car seat down on my desk. I picked Greyson's car seat up and placed it on my desk next to Jamie's.
"There's 2 car seats there Kat" Adam said and I smiled taking the cover off Grey's car seat as Mouse did the same with Jamie's.
"Yeah no shit sherlock" Hailey said walking over to us. I sat down at my desk
"Meet Jamie Alexandra and Greyson Boydd" Mouse said as Jay handed me a bottle of water.
"Thanks" I smiled taking a sip of it. We finished up at the district and I texted Will to ask if he could take Mya again tonight just to get us settled in. We got back to our house and we walked inside.
"The house looks normal" Mouse said and I nodded. We walked upstairs and the nursery door was open.
"Found our surprise" I said placing Greyson on the floor
"Oh wow"
"How did she not suspect something?" I wondered out loud
"She's Alex"
"Ok good point" I had fed both Greyson and Jamie at the district so we walked through to our bedroom where their bassinettes were. We wanted to keep them in there a few days until we get into a routine. I placed Grey in his while Mouse did the same with Jamie.
"These are from me" Mouse pointed to the 2 gift baskets on the bed. "They're mainly for the twins but there's some stuff in there for you"
I hugged him "Thank you" Mouse and I decided to call it a night. We got changed for bed before climbing in to get as much sleep as possible.
