Chapter 1234: Xi, Do You Miss Me?
Before bed, Nian Xi received Jiang Yuning’s WeChat message.
‘Are we really together? Am I dreaming? What should I do? I’m too happy to sleep. I miss you.’
After receiving countless messages from him, the sweetness in Nian Xi’s heart faded, and her patience ran out. She called him.
“Xi, do you miss me?” Jiang Yuning’s happy voice was heard from the other side of the phone.

“I’m sorry. I thought you were already asleep. I meant for you to read my messages in the morning,” said Jiang Yuning in a weak voice.
“I’m a police officer. An emergency might happen at any time, so I normally don’t turn off my phone. As for WeChat… usually, no one would message me in the middle of the night.” Nian Xi felt slightly sad to mention that. Most of the people her age had someone to worry about them at night.
“What a coincidence. No one messages me at night either,” Jiang Yuning said.
“You didn’t even have a phone before.” Nian Xi found it funny.
“No one would message me even if I had a phone. I’m going to let you sleep. Goodnight.” After saying that, Jiang Yuning fell into silence.
The call hadn’t ended yet. “Why don’t you hang up?” Nian Xi asked.
“I don’t think hanging up on girls is polite. You hang up first.”
Nian Xi smiled and ended the call. After that, she found that she couldn’t sleep. After all, it was her second relationship. A lot of thoughts were going on in her mind.
She had no regrets though. She couldn’t stay single forever.

‘Have you had breakfast yet? I’ll bring you some.’
Nian Xi told him not to do that. It wasn’t necessary for him, an injured person, to deliver breakfast to her.
After she arrived at the police station, Duan Yang’s parents came over to thank her and Fang Qi.
“Officer Nian, Officer Fang, the real murderer who took our son’s life might have gotten away if it wasn’t for you two. Thank you, thank you so much. We don’t have much to give, so this is only a small gift from us.”
“Mr. and Mrs. Duan, please.” Nian Xi hurriedly offered them seats. The gray-haired couple made her sigh. “We did what we should have done. We cannot accept your gift. If we did, we’d be failing our job. You two should head home.”

Captain Chen patted her on the shoulder and said, “It’s good that you are thinking this way. You and Fang Qi worked well together this time. As this is your first case. I can say that you solved it rather speedily. You exerted yourself with no rest. Come to my office later for your new case.”
“We have a new case?” Nian Xi curved her lips downward. There was a new case, meaning that something bad had happened.
“I too hope the world can be peaceful without any harm done.” Captain Chen sighed.
