MELISSA'S (POV)

I sighed and walked back into my living room, only to find Finn tailing right behind me like a long lost puppy. I groaned. "Why are you following me Finn?"

"Why aren't you giving me another chance, Melissa?"

I stopped short, which caused Finn to bump into me. Hard. "What?" You're asking for a second chance, Finn? Are you even listening to yourself at the moment? Do you even get what you're saying?" I shouted. I wasn't the one who normally blew her cool, but this time the tables had turned.

"You're asking me to forgive you when you sucked face with your skank right in front of me. Did you even get an inkling on how much that hurt? But no! You acted like it made no difference for me to catch you."

My breathing turned harsher.

"Which is why I'm asking for your forgiveness," Finn said.

I groaned and turned away from him. I sure as hell couldn't face Finn right now. Not when I had finally decided to flush him right out my system. I couldn't bring the pain that came with Finn back. It would just destroy me. Finn, as if, realizing the fight had left me, took a step forward. "Melissa," he started and when he saw I didn't make an attempt to stop him. "You have every right to be mad at me." He reached up, spun me around slowly to face him and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I flinched back and could see the pain in his eyes.

"I'm not asking you to forgive me right away, Mel. I know you won't. I'm just asking for another chance."

"What?" I snapped suddenly. "Monica left you. Is that why you're here?Because you just need a girl to carry around and show off like an accessory. Because now that Monica left you, you just need someone else?" I didn't need Finn to answer that question for me. The look on his face said everything. It said that I had hit the nail right on the head. My eyes blurred with tears again, for what felt like the hundredth time this past week.

Finn took my hands tenderly in his. "Mel, just give me another chance. I'm worth it."

I pulled my hands from his. "Don't touch me," I hissed, but Finn seemed adamant to touch me. He walked closer and placed his palms on my cheek, cupping them. I waved them away, but he kept advancing forward while I kept inching back. Geez! Couldn't he take a hint.

The intensity in Finns eyes started to scare me as he kept approaching with only one look in his eyes. A look that said he would win. And damn, if I didn't want to be the prize.

"Finn," I said, my voice suddenly unsteady. "You're scaring me."

But Finn didn't let up. He came closer until his lips were two inches from mine. Suddenly, it seemed like a dark force had taken over me. I wouldn't lean into the kiss. I couldn't. I was afraid of Finn's intensity. Something that I hadn't been afraid of before. I brought my hand up even faster then my brain could comprehend and felt it connecting with Finn's cheek.

The noise echoed loud.

Shit!

I just slapped Finn.

I watched in horror as Finn put his palm over his right cheek which was already tingling red. He gaped at me. I was in shock. I barely registered anything as I left the door and ran right out of my house, onto the street while a very startled Finn stood right in the heart of my house, still caressing his burning cheek.

* * *

Shit!

No!

What had I done?

I peered back behind my shoulder as I ran, wheezing. I almost expected Finn to be running after me, trying to knock some sense. It was like déjà vu all over again.

I ran to the one place I knew would be safe. The place were I could think. I ran with all my might until I reached the local playground which was deserted. Thank God! I sure as hell didn't need an audience watching me cry buckets. No kids played, which was weird. But then I thought again. This was a school night. No one was supposed to be out.
I sighed, my weight sagging, as I slumped my body on the wooden swing. My favorite place to be.

I kicked sand of my shoes and started to swing, a slight, comforting moment that never failed to calm my nerves down.

All the tears that I held for so long, everything that was bottled inside me, finally came crashing as I wept. Wept with all my might. How the hell could Finn be the most insensitive jerk on earth? I promised myself that I wouldn't care, but I couldn't deny the slight fluttering of my heart when I saw him a few minutes ago.

I had come so damn close in letting my self-restraint disappear and kiss him. Instead what had I done? I slapped him!

I buried my head in my shoulder and tried to stifle my sobs.

"Crying out a bucket are we? I hear chocolate helps with pain. Want one?"
I glanced up when I heard the voice. A woman's voice soft and sweet. Her voice held emotion. But why was the voice so familiar?

I glanced through the sheen of my eyes at the girl with an amazing figure standing in front of me, holding a dairy milk out.

My heart did another somersault as I glanced at Eleanor smiling at me. Louis's Eleanor.

She waved the chocolate right in front of my face again. "Really, take it. I've got to watch my weight anyways."

I smiled slightly as I took the chocolate from her and bit into it. Warmth filled my tongue and I felt the ache disappear. The familiar ache that only chocolate could soothe. "Thanks," I muttered. She nodded and sat on the swing right next to mine. I glanced at her. I understood why Louis took such an interest in her. She was gorgeous. With an award winning smile, black jeans that fit her legs perfectly and a black top. She looked ready to kill.

As if realizing I was staring at her, Eleanor broke the silence. "I come here to think too. When I have problems. I'm guessing that's why you're here."

I nodded. "But don't you live-"

"Yeah, I don't live here. But my favorite place to think is in a park. It's just so peaceful here. You almost feel as If you go into a parallel universe to think through all your problems, and then once you reach home, you're propelled back to Earth."

"And being propelled back to Earth sucks," I sniffled.

Eleanor shot me an apologetic look. "If I had a hanky, I would offer you one. Sorry."

"No need to apologize," I said, immediately sounding dumb. Did Eleanor even know who I was? Did she even remember me from our brief but effective meeting a few nights ago?

As if reading my thoughts, she spoke up. "You're Melissa right? The girl who Harry is obsessed with?" My heart did a double somersault at the 'obsessed with me' part but I leveled my voice when I spoke. "Yeah."

"Well if Harry is captivated by you, then I must definitely get to know you, girl. Harry doesn't get captivated by girls often. Hell! He even resisted me and gave me off to Louis." She chuckled. "But he raves about you like twenty four seven. It's kind of gotten annoying actually. Niall and Louis actually had to shut his mouth by putting duct tape on it when he was asleep. You should have seen his face when he woke up. He thought he was kidnapped."

I laughed, despite my tears. "I wish I was there to witness that," I chuckled.

"You wish." She chuckled along with me. "So what's your story?"

I stared at her, debating whether to spill everything or not. The former won that round. Without realizing, I spilled everything. From the day of my one year anniversary, to how I broke up with Finn, to how I met Harry, about the picnic and supermarket incident and now finally I told her about Finn appearing at my doorstep.

Eleanor listened without cutting in once.

"And he's now probably still standing in my living room with a hand on his cheek and a startled expression on his face," I finished, gasping for breath.

"Sorry," I murmured when she looked lost in thought. "You didn't need to hear that."

"It's fine," she said, putting her hand on my leg. "Believe me when I say that Louis and me had our own fair share of troubles. But we worked it out."

I smiled cockily. "Yeah I can see just how well that worked out." I raised my eyebrows at her.

I knew that Eleanor guessed exactly what I was referring to when her pale skin flushed. "You... Whatever you saw that day, about me and Louis coming out of a room, don't repeat it."

I laughed.

"I won't," I assured her. She seemed satisfied with my answer.

"So this Finn," she said. "He seems a bit like a jerk."

"A bit doesn't even seem to cover it," I seethed. "He is a full-blown toe to head jerk and I don't give him a damn shit."

Eleanor jerked up suddenly, pulling my hand. "What?" I asked.

"What time are you supposed be home today? I mean it is a school night."

"Uh... Twelve latest. Why?"

"I'm taking you to the best place possible. I swear you'll die laughing. Every time I feel down in the dumps, I hang out there. A sure shot way to cheer you up."

"Where?" I asked, not exactly sure why Eleanor was taking me under her wing, but loved it all the same.

"To Harry's apartment of course. He's napping right now. I bet he'll be on the moon top excited to see you. That's the only possible way to get his arse out of the bed." She smirked.

I didn't think twice. I took her hand and let her lead me back to Harry's apartment.

(Sorry this chapter was pretty short! I'm definitely going to write longer chaps from now onwards. Hopefully. Fingers crossed. Haha.

I know everything seems to be going at snail speed right now but I promise it's all building up to further in the book. I can't wait to write about Melissa and Harry together. Or maybe, they might not even end up together!

Ha!

Okay so to conclude, imagine you're Melissa and you desperately want to go to Harry's apartment with Eleanor. Vote and you'll be welcome there. Who knows Harry might just invite you over for a candlelight dinner if you comment as well as vote. Lol.

Love ya peeps< 3 )
