It was another stormy and windy night at Kasugayama Castle, as the roars and thunderous booms rang loudly in the night.
The sky lit up with flashes of lightning, the air smelling heavy with rainwater and smoke..
They were under attack.

"My Lord! My Lady! Kennyo found a way to infiltrate the East Wing! He's set it ablaze!!" One messenger said.
Through the night, one by one, Kenshin's battlefield seemed to shrink.
He was losing..
'And to a past loser..' He thought.
The fight outside was hectic, chaotic, and loud.
It was complete pandemonium outside.
As Y/N and Kenshin tried to sneak their way to Kennyo, something loud rang in the night, overlapping with the thunderous bellowing.
It was loud, but the gunshot cut through all of it.

Y/N and Kenshin were sleeping one night, to rid themselves of the stress of ruling a one part of his territory.
As they were slumbering, it was Kennyo, the damned monk, who escaped the dungeons of Azuchi, alongside several of the Imagawa.
As the rain poured, and their footprints were imbedded in the mud, they headed toward Kasugayama, the home and centre of the Dragon of Echigo's den.
It was a truly good feeling, to be out and free, but.. It would be only later when his forces triple, or even quadruple, in just a single night.. That he would soon regret attacking..

Y/N POV:
I was awakened from my possibly deep sleep when I smelled.. Smoke..? In the air.
Not taking any chances, I immediately awoke Kenshin, who was by my side.
"What is-.. Is that smoke..?" He breathed.
Rubbing the sleep from his eyes and grabbing Himezurū Ichimonjī and warming up quickly, he soon dressed himseld in his battle uniform.
I myself, did the same, with daggers, a bow, and a customizable fan as my weapon of choice.
As I concealed the two extra daggers and my fan, I sheathed my main ones upon my hip, with my quiver upon my other hip and my bow on my back, I dressed quickly and followed Kenshin outside, only to be met by a bleeding soldier.
"My Lord! My Lady! Kennyo found a way to infiltrate the East Wing! He's set it ablaze!!"
The messenger informed, before falling to his knees and collapsing as an arrow pierced his back.
I flinched and gasped, before I quickly drew my bow and one arrow as I drew the bowstring and let the arrow fly with remarkable precision.
I hit my target, but he wasn't going down.
I let one arrow fly.
Then another.
And another.
Then, with a head full of arrows, the soldier fell to the ground.
I heard Kenshin behind sigh as he cut down five enemy soldiers single-handedly.
I retrieved the four bloody arrows with a sigh of relief.
The tips hadn't been lodged inside him.
I put the four arrows back and followed Kenshin outside, where we were met with a horrifying sight.
Nearly half of Echigo was set ablaze.
As I heard Kenshin curse beneath his breath, I scanned the crowd.
"There." I pointed to a lit brazier on the East Wing.
Kennyo had to be there..
But.. What if he wasn't..?
What if i get hurt, who will protect Kenshin..?
What if I die..?
With so many questions of uncertainty rising in my head, I felt a soft hand on my shoulder.
"Y/N. I see him. And.. Relax. With me by your side, we're unstoppable. But.. at our current disadvantage, I guess its safe to say.. We're not fully safe, just yet."
I laughed a but at his words, knowing gull well that they were true.
A prisoner escaped, caught us off guard and killed many of our soldiers.
And almost half of our city was scorched by flames.
Well..
What can you do besides fight back, you know?

Kenshin POV:
I was extremely glad that Y/N awoke me when we were under siege..
How could I have not awoken first..?
How did I not hear how loud it was outside?
How could I not smell the smoke in the air?
Well..
The reason would perhaps be Y/N..
But can I blame her for this?
Most certainly not!!
I would blame Kennyo for attacking us ever so blindly.
Again.
As I led Y/N to the East Wing, I heard a gunshot nearly blind my ears.

3rd POV:
As the gunshot rang in the smoky air, Kennyo had realized he'd gotten his aim on target- on the wrong person..
He looked at his firearm and decided to end the life of the Dragon of Echigo right then and there.
"UESUGI!! I'M RIGHT HERE! COME AND GET ME!!" He taunted.
Kenshin didn't move.
As the enemy leader watched as a soldier fell to the ground from the shot wound, the soldier's helmet came loose, revealing the face of a beautiful woman, dying..
A woman who was held in the highest respect across the country.
A woman who had claimed to have been from the future.
A woman who claimed to have time-traveled and saved the Devil's life.
A woman, who although this world didnt have the rules of where she hailed from, found the courage and the strangth within her to love a bloodthirsty monster such as Kenshin.
A woman who had broken down the barriers of his frozen heart..
The only woman in his life besides the one who he could never be with..
That never left his side..
Until that very moment.

Y/N fell to her knees, gasping for air as the bullet from the firearm, what she thinks could've been a matchlock rifle, pierced her side and through what looked like one of her lungs as it got lodged there.
She could smell gunpowder in the air mixed with the smoke and ashes from the fires.
From afar, she swore she could hear Kennyo through the sounds of the fighting.
But one question still remained in her head.
How did Kennyo manage to escape Azuchi's dungeons and have an army this big overnight..?
As she felt Kenshin's arms wrap around her protectively, Y/N wanted to protest about it, but she did not, seeing as how much pain she was in.
They couldn't call the Oda for reinforcements, as it was still dark, and they would take too long, seeing how far away they all lived; and how spread out they all are.
With this in mind, all Y/N cpuld think of was Death. But Kenshin was on the brighter side. He was thinking about a strategy to kick Kennyo's friends outta Echigo and he would then imprison Kennyo the monk himself.
And there were more questions left unanswered..
What spurred Kennyo's bloodlust? How did his forces become so big overnight? How was he able to sneak into the East Wing and set it ablaze..?
And why did he choose my wife for his target practice just now?
As questions and thoughts ran through the two lovers' heads, there was another noise that rang through the sword clashing and earpiercing screams.
Flags were raised.
The Oda had recieved a message from Shingen's forces in Kai, explaining the 8 hourlong siege.
With them, the flag of the Tokugawa was raised.
And so was the flag of the Date clan.
And the flag of the Toyotomi.
But the ones that stood out from the rest was the flag with the Oda clan's crest, and the beaten and battered yet still raised flag, of the Uesugi.
With tears in her eyes, Y/N clutched Kenshin's form.
"I'm not going to make it.. You gotta make sure that the bullet I probably took for you perhaps on accident wasn't in vain.." She smiled through her tears.
"Kenshin, honey.. Promise me something, will you..?"
He nodded.
"Anything. Ask away."
"Kick Kennyo's ass."
He smiled and laughed bitterly.
"Anything for you."
Kenshin did his best to try and prolong the inevitable for his darling Y/N and he stood.
As he faced Kennyo from afar with renewed strength and determination, his eyes held a sudden flame in them.

3rd POV (sorry for changing it so much):
As he looked in Kennyo's general direction, with a renewed sense of strangth and determination, his eyes held a brightly lit flame of anger.
And then he smiled.
It wasn't one that showed off a sort of bragging aura, no it was not..
It was more of Kenshin saying,
"As I see you've used my wife as a target for your shooting practice, why don't I make a human feast out of you?"
Kennyo cluld feel chills coming down his spine.
As he walked calmly with the same man-killing smile (if looks could kill), it was clear he was very determimed to kill the scar-faced monk.
Kennyo knew he won't win against Kenshin in close-quartered combat, he knew he had to keep himself distanced as far away as possible from everyone.
*Bang*
*Bang*
*Bang*

*Bang*
Five shots were fired from the West Wing.
Some soldiers with firearms had tried to help their leader in the battle.
But in doing so, risked their lives for their country.
And our God of War was sure as hell he wouldn't let the damn monk who legit shot his wife get away with the crime so easily.

As Y/N applied pressure to her wound to try and lessen the bleeding, she knew that Ieyasu would have his hands full with patients.
Her quiver still had arrows, some dirtied with her own blood.
Her bow was right there.
It was a miracle how the bowstring hadn't snapped yet.
"As long as I can still move, I can still help win this!"
Y/N struggled to get upright. She wanted to get a good view and hit Kennyo from afar, like a modern-day sniper.
But here they didn't have scopes- for bows, at least.

Kenshin and Kennyo were fighting on the stone bridge of the East Wing.
The North and South Wings were busy and had their arms full.
The West Wing had been completely occupied by their reinforcements, so its good, and fighting back against the undercover assailants.
As their blades clashed together, Kennyo was easily, yet slowly, winning the swordfight.
"You've gone soft over time, Uesugi..! Are you certain it isn't because of that woman who magically appeared?" (Kennyo)
"Which one are you talking about? There are only two women I love sincerely." (Kenshin)
*Clash*
"I speak of your wife, Y/N..!" (Kennyo)
"Do not let her name fall put of your mouth as if she was yours!" (Kenshin)
*Clash*
"..So the rumours were indeed true.. You really have become pathetic!!" (Kennyo)
"And you, still incompetent as ever! Now make this easy on the both of us and just let me cut your throat!" (Kenshin)
*Clash*
"I don't know how you can be so old, yet be so endearing, it truly does intrigue me." (Kenshin)
"I'm not that old, you monstrous and bloodthirsty idiot!! I'm around your age!" (Kennyo)
*Clash*
"Although your words speak truth, I still look dashing as ever!" (Kenshin)
"Ha ha ha! I seem to disagree, Uesugi." (Kennyo)
*Clash*
"Oh how I wish to see her dying face! How did it feel to see her slowly dying in front of you?" (Kennyo)
"...That is none of your business, you damned old prune." (Kenshin)
And with a flick of the wrist, Kenshin easily hit Kennyo's face, giving him two scars which ran over his face in the shape of an 'X'.
"Gah! You little SHIT" (Kennyo)
Kenshin dodged the incoming attack, and instead got hit on the least dominant arm.
"..Don't get any ideas. I was merely mirroring what it was that Nobunaga did to your face." Kenshin smirked.
Kennyo scowled.
He looked even more horrifying with a bleeding face.
As the two then had a staring contest out of the blue, a whooshing spund cpuld be heard as an arrow portruded from his side.
Kenshin whipped his head around.
There, he saw, convealed behind a barrier of rocks, about 14 feet away, was Y/N, her bow in hand, as she winced in pain.
She put not one arrow, but three, all upon the bowstring of her weapon.
She pulled back the string, and as Kenshin hid, she let go as the three arrows flew and hit their target in rapid succession.
Then she fell.
As the fighting lasted but a few moments more, the God of War, Kenshin Uesugi rushed to his injured wife only to find her getting cold, she had no pulse.
As the small town burned down in flames, the world of the one and only Nagao Kagetora crashed and burned.
The only other light in the dark and ruthless world he lived in had persished.
As tears fell down his face from his beautiful mismatched eyes, they gleamed in the moonlight.
As he held her limp body close, the walls around his once tender heart hardened.
And then, he was stone cold once more.
"Lord Kenshin! Lady Y/N!" Sasuke called out.
He didn't look up.
Sensing the aura of darkness he emitted, Sasuke quickly left, after announcing the battle had been won.
Kenshin gritted his teeth.
'If only I'd been aware of the situation quicker! ...Why hadn't they alerted me..?'
He thought.
He was angry, clearly, but he was still able to think rationally straight.

Kenshin POV:

I then felt a sharp pain in my chest as I felt the three bullets go right through me and my armor.
It was..
..quite refreshing, actually..
I mean, what's war without pain, you know..?
And I understand that completely..
Perhaps I do deserve to die this way for the amount of pain I've caused others..
But Y/N didn't deserve a death like this..!!!
Why her of all people to die?
In front of me, even..!
Why did I bring her with me like this..?
Oh right..
Cause I was being a completely selfish dick.
You know..
I womder what that damn monk thought in his mind, after he realized he shot her..
I bet he didn't really think that seeing her die was pleasant..
It wasn't for me, and I bet it wouldn't be for him, either..
Haha..
What was she thinking, wasting her strength on helping me, although she could've just tried to help herself..?
Life can be a bitch, but..
It is what it is..
And I've already embraced the inevitable..

3rd POV:
As Kenshin fell forward, cradling his wife in his arms, he felt the strength leaving him.
As for the person who had successfully been able to kill the God of War, he fled.
But not too far..
As he got killed in the end as well.
By Sasuke.
Karma really is an amusing thing to have ever been observed.
......
As Kenshin and Y/N were found and identified as many found dead, they were, by far, the most heartbreaking thing to see.
It was as if they died, hugging each other on the ground as the life left them both.
Once a proper funeral was prepared by Shingen, Sasuke, and Yukimura, it was hosted at Kasugayama as well.
And even the enemies of Kenshin Uesugi, but also allies of Y/N L/N, attended.

"And that, students is how the warlord Kenshin Uesugi and his wife Y/N, died at that battle. Any questions? Ah, Margaret."
"Mr. S, how do you know the events in the order they happened, as if you knew all of them personally as they lived?"
Murmurs of agreement and disagreement filled the hall as Sasuke, pushing his glasses up his face.
"Well.. I'm not entirely sure if you'll all believe this or not. But I speak only the truth. I was once friends with Y/N. She actually came from this time period and worked extremely hard to master all the weapons that she did. The only thing she didn't have to work really hard for was Kenshin's love."
The whole lecture hall was silent.
...
Then all the bell rang as the students in that hall picked up their stuff and left, talking to each other about what "Mr. S" had taught them that day.
