Chapter nine: all cried out

LACIE LYNN SALEM was with Jane at annes house. Anne has invited the girls, except for Josie. over for a afternoon of parlor games. The girls who were in the middle of a feather game when all the sudden ruby lost it
"Ruby this is serious, we're supposed to be studying each other's lips," said Anne
Ruby giggled
"I say that Lacie has the most beautiful and soft lips," said Anne Lacie looked down
"Well according to Thomas I do," laughed Lacie as she blushed Jane gushed
"Wait you and Thomas kissed?" Asked Tillie as she giggled along as the other girls
"Yep we did, although he is very awful at it," said Lacie as she giggled
"Billy won't be to happy about this once I tell him," said Jane as she laughed, Lacie shushed her
"Please don't mention anything to him, I don't want him to do anything to Thomas," said Lacie as she frowned
"Ok so when are you two going to tie the knot?" Asked ruby, Lacie had her moth agape
"I am not in no hurry to marry a man, but my mother insisted that we do it next year, I think it's utterly ridiculous that I have to do this, I mean I'm 14!"
"Maybe you can talk to your mother about this if it's not what you want," said Diana
Lacie sighed
"You all don't understand, my mother and my father got married when they were around my age so I can see why they want me to do this,"
"What about LeAnn? I mean she is two years older then you, I mean you would think that your parents would want her to get married first," said Tillie who had a good point
"Oh she is but since she's older then me she not doing it right now,"
"Lacie if your not happy about this whole engagement why don't you cut it off? I mean... maybe your mother will understand," said Jane
"Your right... I'm going to go in there a talk to my mother about this, I mean she's not the boss of me, well talk to ya'll later got to go," said Lacie as she grabbed her stuff and went towards her house

As Lacie arrived at her house, she stood in front of her parents who were occupied with something, her mother who was sewing a dress for LeAnn and her father who was reading the paper
"What do you mean I have to marry Thomas?!"
"Lacie his family has more money then us so it's understandable that you two are to be married, besides he's one year older then you, a gentleman his age should be married to a women,"
"But I don't want a husband right now mother I want to live my life, I have years to worry about that!"
"You will do what me and your mother says and that is final," said Peter as he looked up at his second born daughter and back at the newspaper
This made Lacie tear up and say those 5 words that every parent hates to hear
"You are the worst parents ever!" Said Lacie as she ran out of the room crying and out the door
When she got outside she ran and ran until she broke down crying to the ground, that was until someone spoke to her
"Lacie is that you?" Asked a voice
"Gilbert?" Asked Lacie as she looked up "what are you doing back?"
"Well Anne wrote me a letter and I thought I needed to come home so what's wrong? Why are you on the ground?" Laughed Gilbert as he sat next to Lacie
"Well a lot happened when you left, my parents set me up with this guy Thomas walker and They want me to be married by next year,"
"But your only 14,"
"I know try telling that to my parents," said Lacie as she a straight face
"Well did you try telling them that you didn't want this?"
Lacie shook her head
"Already did that didn't work," said Lacie "well it's getting late I better go apologize to my parents," said Lacie as she got up "thanks for listening to my rant,"
"No problem that's what friends are for," said Gilbert as he smiled "now I better also get home as I have a house guest who apparently can't handle the cold,"
Lacie laughed and started to walk away but slowly turned around
"When are you attending school again?" Asked Lacie
"Next week, I need a week to cope with being back and all,"
"Oh ok well see you then," smiled Lacie as she walked away
On her walk home she bumped into someone, making her stumble
"Lacie what are you doing in the dark?" Asked billy as he held a hand in front of Lacie to help her up which Lacie happily took, and when she got up she dusted herself off
"I'm.. taking a walk," said Lacie as she giggled,
"Lacie I know your lying tell me the truth," said billy as he had a stern look on his face
Lacie sighed
"Billy I really need to get home," said Lacie as she walked away but got stopped as billy reached for her wrist
"I just want to make sure your ok," said billy, Lacie sighed
"Billy I'm fine," said Lacie as she pulled her wrist out of his grip and walked away Leaving billy confused
"There goes telling her how I feel about her," said billy as he mumbled it to himself as he walked away still looking here and then at Lacies direction

When Lacie got home she ran past her parents and to her room and when she got there she came too realization
"Please tell me I'm not falling for my best friend.."

Well there goes a cliffhanger, sorry I had to do that I haven't left cliffhangers in my stories in a long time and yea anyway I hope you enjoyed and if you did give it a vote and I'll write later
And I have decided I will be adding season 3 to this but I will either make a second book called home is where the heart is or will make an epilogue but I don't know yet if I do a sequel it will probably be with Lacie moving and then coming back I don't know but yea more info will be out soon
