"Mama, when's daddy coming home?" 5 year old Paris asked.
"I don't know, princess," Janus sighed, picking the little girl up. London, age 7, hugged his leg and pouted.
Roman had been gone for almost 6 months. It wasn't as long as sometimes, but they had kids now. It was harder now, having him away so long. And it would be even worse when the girls were older.
Paris amd London were birth sisters the couple had adopted when they were 2 and 4. They loved the names, which was one of the things that attracted them to Paris. When they found out the girls needed to be adopted together, they had no issue adopting the 4 year old as well, though it was more paperwork. But it was worth it, the girls were adorable and sweet and deserved a good stable home
It was early early in the morning, about a week later. Janus was sound asleep but shot awake when he was touched, getting caught in someone's lips. He pulled away and gasped in tears. Those bright green eyes, goofy grin. Almost red brown hair.
"R-Roman!" He cried, jumping forwards amd wrapping his arms around his husband, whimpering and crying into his shoulder. Roman held him tight amd gently laid them both down, kissing his cheeks.
"I missed you so much," Janus sobbed. "Why didnt you call me?!"
"I wanted to surprise you and the girls," Roman chuckled. Janus grabbed him, pulling him into a passionate and needy kiss. Roman smirked amd pushed his husband down, deepening the kiss and slipping his tongue into the mix, exploring his mouth. The lips he'd fallen in love with, the ones he'd hadn't kissed in over 6 months.
The body he hadn't touched or seen. The one he'd craved so many of those lonely nights.
The two stayed in eachothers arms for about 2 hours, which was when the children came in to wake Janus. They both exploded in excitement when they saw Roman, running at full speed amd throwing themselves onto the bed. Roman hugged his daughters close amd right, smothering their cute and chubby little cheeks with kisses
Janus giggled and kissed Roman's cheek, snuggling into his shoulder. Paris was crying, hugging Roman very tight and refusing to let go for anything. Roman chuckled and gave her extra kisses
"I know princess, I missed you two. I'm home now," Roman said gently, hugging his family close.
But nothing good lasts forever.
9 months later, Roman had to leave again
"Hey mom? When's dad coming back?" 14 year old London asked. Her question made her 12 year old sister look up.
"I dont know," Janus said softly. Roman had been gone for 7 whole years now. For 7 years, Janus raised his kids completely on his own. Well, not completely. His bestfriend and the kids uncle, Remus, was around a lot. To comfort Janus, help him with the girls. Patton and Logan gave him lots of help as well, annoyed that their bestfriend had left his husband to do all of this on his own.
It had almost been 8 years when Roman finally came home. But when he walked in the door, he found his husband, cuddling and asleep on his own twin brothers lap.
"Roman," Remus whispered in shock
"Get the hell away from him," Roman growled, walking over
"Really?! You've been gone for almost 8 years and the first thing you say to me is to get away from my bestfriend?!" Remus practically cried, moving Janus gently amd storming over to Roman. "You've got some nerve, coming in here and telling me to do stuff. You're lucky he didnt reach the point of trying to kiss me, because with the way you up and left, I wouldnt stop him!"
"Ypu selfish little prick!" Roman shoved his brother.
"I'M the selfish one?!" Remus laughed and pushed Roman back. "I'm not the one that left my family! I'm not the that made my husband care for two young girls all on his own!"
"Uncle Remus? What's going on? Who is that?" Paris, who was only 2 weeks from her 13th birthday, asked softly.
"No one sweetie. Go to your room, ok?" Remus smiled. Paris nodded amd scurried off.
"Let me see my husband amd daughters," Roman growled.
"Not until you stop being an asshole,"
"Roman!" Janus cried excitedly, jumping up and throwing himself onto Roman. Roman held him tight, glaring at his brother.
"Girls! Dads home!" He called, so happy and excited he was crying
The girls ran in, London happily hugging Roman. But Paris stopped.
"Why was he fighting with uncle Remus?" She asked softly, instead going to Remus.
"You guys were fighting? Why?" Janus asked the twins.
"This jerk left for 8 years and came back, telling me to get away from you cause you fell asleep on me again," Remus told Janus.
"What? Roman why would you do that?" Janus asked, letting him go amd taking a small step back.
"Because I come home after i got shot at nonstop for a week and years of hard painful training to find my husband sleeping on my brothers lap," Roamn snapped
"Remus is my bestfriend, he helped me raise the girls. I fell asleep on him because he'd helped me with a full on panic attack that exhausted me. He sat there and held me while I cried, telling me it was ok," Janus told Roman.
"Go to your rooms, ok?" Remus said softly to the girls. They both nodded and hurried to their rooms, not wanting to witness a possible fight between their parents.
"Roman, look. I love Remus. We've been friends since elementary school. He's the reason we ever got together. But I'm not cheating on you with him. I love you more then anyone, I'd never cheat on you. But if this is true, and this is how you acted? I'm sorry..." Janus looked away. Remus went to comfort him, not even bothering to acknowledge the glare Roman gave him. Remus cupped his cheeks and whispered to him.
"I need a few minutes. Just...talk or something," Janus pulled away from Remus and went to the bedroom. Remus sighed.
"He hasnt shut up about missing you in 8 years. He bought a body pillow and wears your hoodies. He bought your colon and wore hoodies with it so he could smell you. He looks at pictures every single night," Remus told his twin. "One night last year...he got drunk and mistaked me for you. He started crying and threw himself on me. He tried to kiss me but I told him no. That I wasnt Roman,"
"He really did all that?" Roman breathed.
"You're the only person who has never loved him in a romantic sense. He loves you more then anything and having you gone for that long killed him. That's why I was around so much. To make sure he didnt,"
"Didnt what?"
"Around the two year mark, he got really depressed and got a bit suicidal. I was around to make sure he didnt do anything stupid,"
Roman started crying and hugged his brother.
"I-im sorry, I'm so sorry," he whispered. Remus hugged him back.
"Go tell him you're sorry," he whispered.
Roman rushed into the bedroom and tackled Janus, smothering him with kisses and apologises. The two were both crying as Janus forced their lips together.
"I'll quit. I never want to be away from my family again. I'm so sorry," Roman said as more tears fell. He smiled softly when Janus gently kissed him.
"Its ok, honey," Janus whispered soothingly. "I'm not upset or mad at you. I'm just happy you made it home safe,"
Remus chuckled and took the girls with him, yelling to the two he'd be stealing them for a few hours and they could do whatever they wanted.
Remus came back about 3 hours later with a sleeping Paris on his back and tired London by his side.
"Let's get you two to bed," Remus smiled. "Go brush your teeth, ok?" London tiredly nodded and Remus woke Paris long enough she could get ready for bed.
Even though the two were teens, they were very much their parents babies. And they both didnt mind being fussed over, especially since it seemed to have been taking Janus' mind off not having Roman around.
Remus kissed his nieces heads and shut the light off, closing the door softly behind him. In the kitchen, Roman was getting water. He was shirtless and Remus was shocked by how built he was.
"If you weren't my brother, I'd eat you up, Janus is lucky," Remus chuckled.
"Oh you fucking disgusting rat shut up," Roman said in disgust though he was smiling. "Whered you take the girls?"
"Out for icecream and dinner. Then to the park, they both were pretty active and knocked themselves out," Remus smiled, stretching and yawning.
"Go to bed, loser. Thanks for all your help," Roman hugged his twin and the two went to their rooms (Remus in the guest room)
