The cave grew silent.
Percy Jackson was still standing, with his weapons firmly in his hand and his wavy hair swept away by the sudden fresh wind from his friend's power. A hole gaped open wide in his chest, cleanly cutting through his body. The heat cauterized his wound, sealing up the blood and leaving an empty chest.
Jason Grace stood in front of him, his sword still pointed toward the son of Poseidon, the greatest demigod to ever walk this earth. Toward his dear friend.
Without his lungs, Percy Jackson could not utter his final words loudly.
But Jason Grace understood.
Closing his eyes, he prayed to Jupiter for one last favor. And Percy Jackson was seen no more- neither under the sun, the stars, or even the dark fields of the Underworld.
