Hero, Lulu, and I are all getting into Hero's car.
Later on ill come back to their house for my car and then drive home. I sit in the front seat even though Lulu called shotgun.
"Omg im so excited." she says and i laugh.
"Can we be like bestfriends, like the three of us?! We need a name!" she squeals and hero shakes his head.
"Can you imagine living with her?" he looks at me and i roll my eyes nudging him, making him laugh.
"Yes we can be bestfriends." i say and Hero makes a face.
"Not when we're in school." he says and i nudge him again.
"We can be called...pancake squad." Lulu says and Hero starts to drive the car.
"Ew." he says and i laugh.
"I think we should decide our name when we get to the mall, so we have more to base it off of." i say while looking out the window.
"Good idea." Lulu says nodding seriously, which makes Hero laugh.
"Im actually suprised you're even going to the mall with me, since you're so concerned about being seen with me." i say and I look at him.
He almost looks like he feels bad.
"Oh shit i didnt think of that." he says sarcastically and starts laughing.
Nevermind.
"For once i thought you'd be sincere about something." i say and he smiles.
"I just dont want people to think im fucking you or soemthing."
"Hey! Kid in the back." Lulu says and I rub my face.
"Sorry not sorry." Hero says and i roll my eyes.
"Well they should know that you're not doing the devils tango with Jo if they see that I like her." Lulu says crossing her arms.
"Why? You dont like any of the girls your brother fools around with?" i ask.
"Of course not, even the nice ones arent...likeable. Dont fall for their act." she says.
"Note taken." i say looking back out the window.
"Except maybe you I'd like." she says and i close my eyes.
Akward.
Hero turns the music up and the drive to the mall isnt long.
Once we arrive we stop at a few shoe stores first.
I have the $150 Hero gave me and another $50 bucks from tutoring.
But i dont want to waste it all. Ill probably just get two tops at most.
We walk into American Eagle and Lulu runs to a blue dress.
I walk over to the sweatshirts and skim them.
I can barely afford one of these.
"Hey i have a question." Hero says popping up out of no where.
"I thought you were in the male section."
"I was but i want to ask you something." he says leaning his arm on one of the tables.
"Okay, what is it?" i ask picking out one thats cute and only 20$.
"Why do you always wear flannels?" he asks and i just look at him.
"Is that a legit question?" I ask and he laughs.
"Dead serious."
"Uh...well...they use to be my brothers." i say, looking back at the $20 sweater.
"Why do you wear your brothers clothes, why not your own?"
"Why are you so interested in my clothing choices?"
"Just curious." he says and i sigh.
"Because its hard for me to afford things, i cant go buying a new wardrobe everytime something new is in style. Wearing his old clothes saves money, and some of it isnt that bad. Like the flannels." i say and Hero is quiet for a good minute.
"Pick out atleast five items in the store and ill buy it for you." he says seriously.
I just stare at him.
Is he kidding?
"No." i say shaking my head.
"Yes." he says.
"No, absolutely not, I dont need you're sympathy and i sure as hell dont need your money." i say and he stands straight.
"You're so stubborn, just let me do something nice for you."
"No." i say shaking my head.
"Com'n then two items, just buy something that you want. Dont worry about the cost." he says and i shake my head.
"I will literally have Lulu pick out a bunch of shit in your size and ill buy it all." he says and I look at him.
Eye contact.
Its a crazy thing.
So simple yet so powerful.
"Ill pick two things thats it." i say.
"Three." he says and i give him a stern look.
"Sorry." he says and smile creeps on his face.
"You're a jerk." i say nudging him smiling.
"A handsome jerk." he says raising an eyebrow.
I roll my eyes playfully.
"You are not buying that as one of your items though, thats for sure." he says looking at the sweater i had picked out.
"Why not? i thought it was cute." i say and he furrows his eyebrows.
He skims through the other sweaters.
"What about this?" he asks and i look at the sweater half the girls in the school own.
"Uhhh... no." i say and he frowns.
"Why its got...clouds...and...look a butterfly." he says pointing and I laugh.
"I like this one more." i say pulling out a gray one with black line art on it.
"Yeah...thats cute." he says and i grab in my hands.
Hero helps me pick another shirt thats a little out of my comfort zone but cute.
Lulu runs up from the side and looks at the shirt.
"Cuteee." she says and i laugh.
I now realize the handful of clothing items in her arms.
"Jeez Lu, you know we still have to go to other stores." he says looking a the pile of clothes shes holding.
"Im very much aware of that, besides i still need to try it all on." She says and Heros eyes widen.
"I should have stayed home." he says and we both laugh.
We all walk over to the changing rooms and wait for a lady to unlock the doors for us.
Lulu goes in one of the rooms that are far on the left while im all the way on the right.
Hero waits mainly in the middle but more towards the right.
"Im not coming out for half of these cause i dont like all of them!" Lulu yells and hero yells back okay.
I try on the first sweater which isnt bad, its a little baggie but still fitting.
I walk out and do a little twirl for hero who smiles.
"not bad, eh?" i ask and he smiles looking me up and down.
"im trying not to be nice." he says and i roll my eyes playfully walking back into the little room.
I try on the tighter top that Hero and Lulu liked.
God, my boobs look bigger than usual.
Yeah, no, this is not what Im use to thats for sure.
Its a lavender shade color and a normal length, just tighter than my usual tops.
"I dont know if should come out for this one." i say and I hear Hero mumble.
"Im coming." he says and i open the changing door so that my head peeps out.
"It's definitely not what im use to." i say looking up at him and he rolls his eyes.
"Com'n show me." he says and i open the door.
Hero comes in the room with me and im staring at my reflection in the mirror.
Hero looks a me and then at the mirror and then at me again, with wide eyes.
"You look...different." he says and then clears his throat.
"Uh...yeah its okay." he says and i slouch.
"No, you look fine...its just uh...not what the type of stuff im used to seeing you in."
"You mean its not a flannel?" i ask laughing and he smiles.
"Im just going to return them both." i say and Hero goes to grab it out of my hand.
"Nope, Im buying both." he says grabbing it, but i dont let go.
"Let go off it Hero, i dont need you buying me stuff." i say and we're playing tuggle war with the sweater.
"No, we already agreed i was buying you two things at least." he says and finally pulls it out my grip.
Now im starting to laugh as he puts it above his head.
I jump up trying to reach it.
"Thats not fair, im short. Give it back!" i yell and we're both laughing.
"Let me buy it for you." he says and i keep trying to get it as he holds the shirt above his head and moves it around.
"No." i say and I somehow grab the shirt.
Right when its finally out of his grip, he grabs both of my wrists.
Not tightly that hes hurting me but just enough so that im not moving.
But im really not trying to move.
Im really just shocked by his actions.
My back hits the wall of the changing room and hes looking down at me.
The mood has changed drastically.
And his face is inches away from mine.
My breathing has quicked and our eyes are locked.
Eye contact has always been hard for me to keep but right now, Im not looking away.
His face is close to mine and his eyes keep looking back from my lips to my eyes.
"Let me buy the shirts for you." he whispers and my heart is beating so fast.
Right when i think his lips are about to touch mine someone knocks on the door.
"Yo, you guys done in there, i tried on half my clothes and got tired." Lulu says and Hero pulls away so fast.
"Yeah." Hero says opening the door.
Lulu's standing there with her foot tapping.
"So...anything you guys want to tell me about?" she asks and Hero rolls his eyes grabbing the shirt from me and walking past her.
"I swear we didn't do anything." i say putting my hands up and she laughs.
"I know you didnt, but if you did, i wouldnt care." she says.
"I just need to change and I'll be right out." I say.
