I wake up to another day I've been dreading. This whole virus is going to be the death of me..hopefully not literally, but I still can't stand not seeing him, his beautiful smile. Lord, what has he done to me? I walk down my stairs to collect the post, there, I saw a letter from my school. I rip it open to see if we need to buy any more stupid textbooks. "Dear parents/guardian-" blah blah blah "..we will be opening schools at the start of September". I squeal in excitement and rush to text him.
"We're back in school soon!! Did you see the letter???" he took a while to respond but he said "wait what? i just woke up sorry haha. can't wait, see you soon :) <3"
The days leading up to him felt like forever but the intense emotions I was feeling were overwhelming, enough to make it longer as I got almost no sleep. He seemed off, a little less flirty, it was weird because we loved to joke around that way.
*Start of school*
I walk into school, my blood pumping faster than ever, it's our final year and our 15 year anniversary. I walk into our first class and see him walk in. But what I took so long to notice was the girl whose hand he was holding. Akuma. That monstrous little-
"Hi, Lucia!" He said with his cheery voice. I sighed and said hi back.
The whole of school went by in a flash, I got to see a couple of my friends. I still couldn't keep my mind off of him though, it's as if he took over me, every ounce of my pain was gone when I was with him. Maybe I'm just crazy, who knows.
I continue my days at school with him, he seemed so nice to her but she was oblivious to every nice thing he did, it's as if she never wanted him in the first place. God I hate how she treats him, I wouldn't even care if he had a girlfriend, but it should be someone who treats him right, someone who can show him what love is...someone like me. Or at least I wish it were that way, life doesn't really seem to work how I would prefer but it's okay, once I move out, I'll be free to do whatever I wish.
Day by day, he talked to me less, like he was trying to cut off contact with me. This hurt, a lot more than it should have, we used to be inseparable but Akuma seems to be destroying Miguel's time with me. She shouldn't have this much control over him, let him live his life.
Next thing you knew, she was inviting him to parties, forcing him to play drinking games. That wasn't the best friend I knew, he didn't even look happy in those photos of them together, he seemed, drained in a way. He would invite me to the parties but I would decline every time, if my abuela found out, she'd kill me. Plus, I was never keen on drinking or any other activity like that to begin with. My father gave it a bad reputation and since then I knew what I wanted.
For a while, I considered going to a party, but I'd shake off the thought as something foolish. But one night, I had gotten into an argument with my mother, she wouldn't stop telling me off for things I didn't even do. Sick of it, I called Miguel and asked him to pick me up at 9.
"Sure, get ready quick, you only have an hour by the way."
"Damn, I didn't read the time, love you, see you soon" "Love you too, see you"
I got ready and put on a nice red dress.
Honestly, it was the only decent thing I owned, apart from my dinosaur onesie of course. I heard beeping outside while doing my eyeliner so I rushed it and ran downstairs. I got in the car and he started laughing at me.
"What are you laughing at?" I said smiling.
"Nothing," he said trying to hold himself from crying.
I pull down the mirror to see my eyeliner looking like a whole pterodactyl. We both laugh for a hot minute until he licks his thumb and wipes it clean. I think the saliva was disgusting but the concept was actually pretty cute, or it would've been if he thought of me as more.
We drive down to his house and it is full of SO many people, and just as I was about to have some fun. Guess who gave us a visit?
