The night sped fast as the police and ambulance came. All the young ones were brought to the Hosu General Hospital.
Including you who was reported to be seen attacked by the Nomu, as they called the 'men'. Thus, you were whisked away to a separate room from the boys.
"You should have called when you arrived."
Scolded your father as he stood by your hospital bedside. In the end, you weren't admitted from having any injuries from the attack you dodged with your life. Instead, you were admitted due to a high fever that Enji can quickly guess the reason for it.
"I'm sorry..." you mumbled with your head low.
Your father was quick to scold you for being reckless to simply walking up to the infamous Hero Killer while he was letting so much killing intent.
You were quick to assure him that despite his intimidating demeanor and the pressure he gave off. The man was too injured to be able to fight everyone properly. He begrudgingly assisted you in laying the man in preparation for the ambulance to arrive.
Though...
"Miss..." A woman walked up to the girl with a thankful gaze sweeping her face. You were confused since you never saw this woman before but before you can ask her, she grasped your hands out of nowhere and wept with tears of joy.
"Thank you!" she suddenly sobbed causing your face to erupt in red out of embarrassment. "I cannot thank you enough..."
With a nervous smile, you spoke to her gently. "I'm s-sorry ma'am... I don't know what I did that could have you thank me so much..." Looking at you with amused glossy eyes she said.
"If it weren't for you, my son and I wouldn't be able to get away from the villain," she said beside her was a little boy his forehead bandaged with a square Band-Aid.
He and Shōtō got quite a surprise when they realized that you were present in one of the Nomu's attacks and would have gotten seriously hurt if it weren't for the hero you were able to recognize laying on the hospital bed.
Enji himself with you personally went over to his room. Shocking a few years out of him when the no. 2 hero nodded at him.
"I thank you for saving my daughter," he said in a deep gruff voice. He had the poor man sweating under his intense gaze.
"I-Its fine! I promise you, I-I'm just doing my job!" stuttered the white-haired man. Noticing his distress you smiled at your father before slowly pushing him out of the room.
"Go on and do the important stuff you always do after hero work!" you told him with a chirp. "I want to talk with Mister a little bit."
Narrowing his eyes at you Enji muttered in a tone that the hero mistook as anger. "You better sleep early and not go anywhere else." on the other hand you laughed off his worry with a large grin.
"You worry too much! It's fine, I'm in the hospital so I shouldn't be allowed to leave without your permission." knowing that was true he gave in heaving a deep sigh. After giving you a pointed look Enji left after patting weakly over your head confusing you mildly but you honestly didn't mind.
"Your da sure loves you...!" the hero stuttered out awkwardly still recovering from his shock. "Yeah," you let out a small bitter laugh before looking over to the hero, lost and unsure.
"Can I... Ask you something?" you started earning his attention.
"What is it?"
"W... Why did you save me?" was your delicate question to the hero in the hospital bed. Looking at you the hero smiled as if you were asking a silly question.
"Because I'm a hero." he simply replied.
"Y-You could have gotten severely hurt... And could have even..." your breath hitch the feeling of guilt rising up your spine. "So... why?"
The man said nothing and looked at the ceiling for a fat minute before meeting your glossy eyes again and smiled. "It's just because of this sudden urge I felt to push myself to do something."
His words confused you a small second which had him let out an amused chuckle.
"Isn't this... the exact same reason you had when you risked your safety to help all those people escape?" Once it was finally spelled out to you, your eyes widen with realization.
You didn't realize you were risking yourself at that moment, to be honest. You were actually worried more about how to defend the people and yourself from the dangerous creature than anything else. Seeing you get it made the white-haired hero smile. With a weak pat on your arm, he said to you.
"You'd make one great and kind hero."
[--]
Thanks to the boy you were able to recognize as one of the few people who were caught up too close to the large eyeless Nomu.
"It's nothing to thank for," you said lightly smiling widely to her "Anyone would have done that."
The woman couldn't stop smiling at the pink-haired girl who radiating with kindness. The air around her was so calming and protective she had no worries being around her and felt very protected.
"I believe you will make a hero, Miss..."
You never met those people in your life before. And for certain, the chances of meeting them are very slim and almost impossible. But for some reason...
You couldn't help but cherish the words of the stranger you helped and helped you. It made a warm feeling in your heart as if beat with every the very conviction to get your body well again.
'Hero...' you thought deeply about the title they called you. 'I am a hero...'
That night, you slept peacefully with a happy smile on your face.
[--]
"Are you all doing alright?" you softly questioned with worry as you entered the room of the injured boys. "I saw the mister chief police leaving the room... Did you guys get scolded or something?"
Without a word, Shōtō was at your side his hands resting on your shoulders as if to make sure that you were alright.
He was rightfully expected to be worried. As he lay awake in the night, he slowly came to realize that had you been to the location send to their number much earlier than intended, you could have ended up in much trouble they would have been. But he also came to realize that he was actually close to not seeing you that very not ever again.
It had him extremely worried. The other boys could see clearly as Shōtō looked at the girl with eyes gleaming with relief.
"No. We aren't in trouble," he assured you unconsciously "Although, because of our unauthorized actions. We won't take credit from the Hero Killer's arrest."
Hearing the words unauthorized your brow crease with worry and anxiety that had the white and red-haired boy tilt with curiosity.
"I was told..." you mumble nervously wondering what Shōtō would say since the topic the chief of police in Hosu had with you is a lot different than what they were told.
"You did well protecting the civilians, Todoroki-san." Iida was quick to cut in although he jumped back a bit when both siblings turned to him.
"You can call me (Y/N), Iida-san. You too, Midoriya-san" You giggled at his predicament and the reddening of the green-haired boy's cheeks before scratching your cheek sheepishly. "I was told that I would receive some credit for trying to defend the public from the Nomu's appearance but... Do I really deserve such praises?"
"Todoroki-san..." Midoriya frowns softly watching the girl clenched her fists together as if she was caught under the spotlight of the jury.
"All I could think about... Was how to get away... How I didn't want to be there... And how unsettling their aura was." You purse your lips together in a tight line feeling your shoulders tremble.
"I was so scared that I almost gave up entirely... I thought I was going die--"
"But you didn't give up." Midoriya was quick to cut you off. He quickly stood up looking at you in the eye with a strong emotion burning in his eyes.
To you, they glowed with his natural aura that had you freezing in awe.
"It's okay to be scared, Todo--(Y-Y/N)-san. You may think that what you did isn't enough. But some people are safe because of you. People who were able to avoid getting hurt or caught in harm's way of the Nomu!"
His lips widening into a small smile, Midoriya said. "That night, you were their hero. And in their eyes, you were a really great hero."
Your heart pumped rapidly at his words. Your cheeks dusting pink as the warmth flooded your chest and a smile graced your lips that inadvertently cause the shy boy to blush madly too.
A bubbling feeling filled your veins, your complexion glowing like a blooming flower in the sun.
"Thank you Midoriya-san!!"
Without thinking properly, you threw your arms around the boy. A loud cry of surprise erupt from his lips as his face was lost in a sea of redness. "(Y-Y-Y-Y/N)-san...!" Iida cried out a small hint of blush also on his cheeks when you suddenly included him in the warm, gentle hug as he tried to rescue his awkward friend.
Behind them though, with stoic eyes, the boy watched with a frown. He thought nothing of it though, but it doesn't mean he liked the tightening feeling of his chest.
He felt his finger tingle with the sensation of pulling you back and by his side again.
But for some reason...
He hesitated.
