i appreciated that you tried to communicate. however, your tone didn't seem forced.
your gaze lingered on my dark circles for a moment, but you averted it. i pretended like i didn't notice that.
i was pretty much used to it now. insomnia and depression were my best friends, and i was caught in desperate efforts to cling onto a ray of hope.
but i had none. there was no spark left in me.
"i wish i had an answer to that," i replied, returning your smile with mine. mine wasn't cute though, unlike yours.
"no destination?" you asked softly.
"there is, but no one can ever imagine me reaching there."
i smiled again.
