○•Chapter 16: The Ex-Girlfriend •○
I stood beside the door; he was still having his "tutoring session" with Mr. Larry. I peeked through the glass window. He was still sitting by Mr. Larry's desk, writing on a piece of paper and looking at an history textbook. I've never seen him work this hard on something before; well other then basketball of course. He's just so passionate about basketball. I still remember how he had little basketball stickers all over his laptop; how cute. I chuckled.
He stood up and shaked Mr. Larry's hand. Yes, he's done! I better step out of the way or I'll embarrass myself again; I don't want my jacket to get caught in the way again. I rolled my eyes. I think this is going to mock me throughout my entire four years in high school. He opens the door and glances over to me.
"Hey. Sorry for making you wait." He ruffled his hair. The way he ruffles his hair, just makes me.. Wait. What am I saying?!
"I-It's okay." I faked a smile. Why am I acting like this? Its so weird. Just from ruffling his hair, I'm already going insane. Why is that? We started to walk down the empty hallway. Its only 4:30. Why is everyone already gone? Usually there will still be people hanging out in the hallways, but there's barely anyone here. Mostly grade 12's are here but still.
"Emily?" I turned my direction towards him.
"Yeah?" He grabbed something out of his jacket. Its my phone! I can recognize my minty blue case from anywhere. Oh, I missed it so much! Wait, that reminds me. Did he look through my phone? I'm not positive that my phone immediately ran out of battery. Great, he's literally driving me insane now.
"You left it at my house yesterday." He says as he holds it out for me to reach. Yes! I squealed. I grabbed my iPhone out of his hands and wiped the glossy screen. Now to check if its on. I pressed the power button and it immediately light up. I-I thought it was dead. So does that mean he did touches it?!
"T-Thanks." I muttered and he awkwardly nods his head. He looks somewhat suspicious; did he actually looked through my phone? I would look at my messages right now but its still booting up.
"I also charged your phone for you." He smiles and ruffles his hair again. I can't focus. How can he be so damn cute?! I'm dead. My jaw dropped. I swear something is seriously wrong with me right now!
"Emily? Is there something wrong?" He waves his hand in my face. Girl, snap out of it! I blinked back to conscience. Wow, did not see that coming.
"Uh, Yeah. W-What did you said again?" I stuttered. I couldn't even hear him. What's wrong with me?!
"I said, I charged your phone for you." He raised his eyebrow. I nodded. Awww, he's just too sweet for his own good.
"T-Thank you.." He nods and I look down at my black converse. I feel so ashamed of myself. Why am I acting especially more nervous today? Its weird. I stared at my phone. It's done booting up! I quickly typed my password in and there was three messages from Lily.
Lily: Why won't you pick up your phone!?
She called me?! No she didn't. I didn't get any missed calls.
Lily: Emily! You're going to have gym without me :( I have a doctor's appointment... I'm sorry.
Well that explains why I was alone for gym. I wonder why she went to the doctor's. Is she sick? She doesn't seem like it to me.
Lily: OMFG! Emily! Did you heard the rumors about Jayden?!
So am I the only one who doesn't know the rumors? I feel pathetic. I hate not knowing anything. Funny, is this why she was panicking about him seeing the text? Oh, Lily, that's cute.
Me: No. Can you please tell me what they are about? I've been dying to know ever since Chris shout it out loud! >.< Please answer A.S.A.P!
I turned my phone off and stuffed it into my backpack. I took a glance over to him. He was staring into space; Is he always like this? It seems like he's always in his own little world. Rumors huh? Would he tell me if I ask him? Probably not. I'm not even sure if he knows them himself. its probably not a good idea if I ask him right now. Have you seen his expression when Chris blurted it all out? It was scary. Yeah, I'm not going there.
"Emily?" He said my name. I tilted my head towards him and his mesmerizing blue orbs just kills me. Oh my gosh! its too much! I immediately look away. Why can't I control my feelings today?! What can I do? His eyes are just too much for me to handle. My face flushes. Get a grip on yourself girl! Don't get too carried away!
"Y-Yeah?" My stomach starts to ache. Don't be nervous!
"Why did you leave yesterday?" He asks me. Oh no, he remembered! Of course he'll remember, it just happened yesterday.
"Is it because of Abby?" I raised my eyebrow. So it is Abby? Abby and Jayden. It seems to fit; Well kind of. Okay it doesn't but it still doesn't change the fact that they may have a relationship going on.
"She's the one from the picture right?" I asked, still staring at my black converse. Why do I care? Its not like it matters to me.. Does it?
"Look, she's seriously not my girlfriend." I don't care if she's his girlfriend or not. Why does he keep bringing it up?!
"I don't care, Jayden." I said and turned to the other direction. I don't want to hear about this anymore; I already had enough drama for one day. Can't he just let this all go? Can't he see that I don't want to talk about it? Can't he see...
"Emily, are going to run away again!?" He grabbed on to my arm and faces me, but I kept my head down. I can't look at him. I don't know why but every time I see his face, i just lose control of myself. With his beautiful blue eyes staring at me, I just get so lost into them.
"Let go.." I muttered. He tightens his grip and pulls me towards him. He's so stubborn!
"Not until you explain why you keep running away." He pursed his lips. Even if he asked me, I don't know. When he keeps talking about the picture, I just feel like running away; running away from all the drama. I sighed.
"Jayden, I just don't want to talk about it. Just let it go. Can't you do this one thing for me?"
"Emily, I know you don't want to talk about it but, you can't just keep running away from your feelings." I just don't know. I don't know why I'm acting this way. I'm just as confused as he is.
"Jayden, I-I" I don't know how to respond to him. What he said just blew me out of my mind. What do I say?
"Yes, Emily?" He held my hands close to his. His warm hands were just perfect; they made me feel so comfortable. Its like my hands fits perfectly in to his. Is it weird that I'm not his girlfriend but we hold hands a lot?
"I-I"
"JAYDEY!" A girl screamed from behind him. I slowly backed away. What the heck is going on? Don't tell me its his fan girls again! All of a sudden, the girl jumped on to his back. Her legs curled around his waist and her long, silky, smooth crimson hair covered her face. Wait a second, her hair looks familiar. Crimson hair... Arirand Grande? No, that can't be her. Oh! She's the girl from the picture!
"Abby, what are you doing here?" He shuffles his hair and she swings her arms around his neck. I'm assuming this is a normal thing.
He said they were just friends, but just look at them now; they're totally acting like a couple. I bit my lip. Do no get jealous. We're just friends. Why can't I get that in my head? Is this a sign? Is this gushy feeling a sign that I may have feelings for him? I don't know but all I do know, It feels strong.
"I had a meeting." She grins and snuggles into his neck. Jayden looks at me and I shrugged. Why does he have to look at me for? Did I looked disgusted? I admit I am but I was trying my best to hide it. She glanced over to me and raised her eyebrow. I waved but she just continues to look at me like I'm a freak. I guess she's that kind of a girl. He seems to be surrounded by those girls an awful a lot. Is that even healthy?
"Abby, get off of me." He tried to shrugged her off, but she wouldn't move.
"But, its been so long since I've done this." She whined. I rolled my eyes. She's quite annoying. I've always hated those kind of girls; they seemed so fake.
"People are staring. Just get off." He pushed her arms but she clung on to his neck. Why do I feel so out of place? I mean, we were just talking and suddenly she appears out of nowhere. I feel kind of lonely just watching them. Maybe I should just leave, she'll probably like that.
"Jayden, maybe we can do this tomorrow." I smiled, showing that I'm okay and waved goodbye. I can't believe he lied about their relationship. I can handle the truth, thank you very much. Sheesh, I really am bothered by this. Why? Why? Get a hold of yourself!
"Abby! Get off!" He pushed her arms really hard and strangely, she slowly climbs off of his shoulder. Her feet plops to the floor. Wow, he sounded really pissed off.
"Jayden, you chose her over me?" She yelled. Wow, overdramatic much?
"Abby, what's in the past stays in the past. I'm sorry, but I only see you as a friend now." he muttered. So he really wasn't lying? Wait, so does that mean she's his ex-girlfriend?! Woah. Did not see that coming at all!
"But Jaydey.. You can't just end it like this. We dated for 3 years!" She sobbed. 3 years!? Is it bad that I actually feel bad for her? It seems like every time we walk together there's always drama involved. This guy really is complicated. Maybe that's why he never really show much interest in girls.
"No buts. We're done here." He turns to me and smile. B-Bump!
"Let's go." he takes me hand. I turned to check on her but she was already gone. She looked like she was about to burst into tears soon. I wonder if she's okay.
"What about Abby?" I asked. He shrugged and held my hand tightly in to his. Why doesn't he care? She may be his ex-girlfriend but he must have feelings for her if he kept that picture on his desktop.
"I told you, she's just a friend. Now don't run away again." Why did he went through that much just to convince me? Why does he keep doing nice things for me? B-BUMP! My heart keeps pounding against my chest; its so loud that I can't even hear myself think. What's wrong with me?
"Understand?" He smiled and I nodded. I put my head down; trying to avoid his eyes. Its too late, my cheeks are already getting warmer and warmer. Someone save me! I'm dying from heat exhaustion!
"Emily, are you okay?" he tried to take a glance but I immediately turned my head. I can't let him see me blushing! What will he think? That I like him? I don't and I don't get why people keep saying I do
"Y-Yeah." I said quietly. Stop trying to see my face!
"Why do you keep avoiding me? You still haven't explained why."He pursed his lips. What do I say?
"I already told you!" I shouted and I can feel everyone staring, but you know what? I actually don't care.
"You didn't give me the answer I wanted." he crossed his arms. Why is he so stubborn! Ugh!
"Not everything has to go the way you want it to be." I rolled my eyes. Hey its life.
"Then answer this." He pursed his lips.
"What is it?" I raised my eyebrow. What is there to ask? I do not like where this is going.
"Do you like me?" My eyes widened. What did he just said?!

I'm sorry I had to end it there :P lol but i just had to. I love suspense haha Sorry for the short chapter btw >.< I'll make sure the next chapter will be longer ;)
Maybe Emily will finally realize her feelings. Man if i was her, I would have known a long time ago haha
