Karma pov
"I'll cut off your hands and feet, have them stuffed and mounted. I'll keep them with me and cherish them forever." Takaoka spoke as he pointed his knife at Nagisa who was struggling to stand up straight
"Mr. Karasuma! We've got to shoot him! Nagisa will die!" Kayano pleaded to Karasuma
"Wait. Stay out of it!"
Hearing Teresaka speak I turned to him annoyed
Does he want Nagisa to die that bad!?
This bastard!
"Are we still leaving them to it, Terasaka? I'm just about ready to join the frey, myself." I somehow managed to say calmly
"You been skippin' practice, Karma, so you dont know, but Nagisa....he's still got somethin' up his sleeve"
The minute he spoke those words I quickly turned my attention back to Nagisa.

By the time we got to the hotel and into our rooms I told Nagisa to take his shirt off so I could treat his wounds.
It was then that I was able to see the extent of what Takaoka did to him, bruises all over his small body.
"That bastard, I wish I could have killed him"
"Don't worry, I'm fine"
Nagisa tried to reassure me, but it was then that I came across an old scar of his, a scar right across his stomach.
"......"
I traced over it with my fingers
In the end I couldn't do anything....just like back then.
All I could do was look down at my lap in disappointment.
"Karma?" He called out noticing my silence
"...I'm sorry"
"Why are you apologizing?!"
"I promised myself on that day I would protect you no matter what" a tear rolled down my cheek as I recalled that day.
Flashback (middle school)
3rd person POV
Since today was the last day of the week Karma had texted Nagisa earlier if he wanted to hang out to which he agreed.
Normally the two didn't get to hang out as much since they were placed in different classes, but that wouldn't stop the red head from seeing his boyfriend.

Once the school bell rang the taller boy stood by the front gate, arms crossed, and waited until-
"Karma!"
He turned around at the call of his name and saw Nagisa running towards him, his ponytail swinging back and forth.
"You ready?"
"Yeah!" He smiled sweetly and both went on their way to the mall.

As both middle schoolers walked side by side, Karma used all his will power to not hold Nagisa's hand as it was still daylight and fellow students and classmates were still out.
It would be troublesome if someone from their school found out.
The red head could care less what people said or thought about him, but it was a different story if people talked about Nagisa.

As it got dark and there were less people out the two boys were finally able to hold hands with each other as they walked back.
But just before they could cross the bridge into Nagisa's neighborhood the taller boy saw a claw machine right by a convenience store.
"Come here"
Karma grabbed the bluenette's hand and dragged him to the game.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm gonna win you something" he replied while inserting 200 yen
"....."
Nagisa simply remained silent as he watched his boyfriend play, winning an avocado plushie on his first try.
"Amazing!"
"Here"
He handed over the plushie to Nagisa
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I told you I was gonna win you something"
"Thank you"
Nagisa hugged the plushie between his arms, a visible blush on his cheeks.
"...Hey"
"Yes?" He looked up and using that opportunity Karma kissed his lips
"K-Karma!!" He pulled away, his face a bright red
"Haha! Sorry, I couldn't help it!"
"Someone could have seen" he whispered, clearly embarrassed
"Don't worry I doubt anyone saw"
Karma grinned as he wrapped his arm around the other's shoulder and started walking off, not aware that a group of older students had seen everything.

The minute they stepped onto the bridge a voice called out from behind
"Hey!"
Both turned around and saw a group of 7 high school boys
"What do you want?" Karma asked, pulling Nagisa closer to his side, guarding him, since it was pretty clear that these guys weren't friendly.
They were definitely delinquents.
"Don't act like you don't know you disgusting faggats!"
"......"
'Shit! Looks like we were seen' Karma thought to himself
"I don't see how our sexuality concerns any of you, so why don't you run along and find someone else to bother"
"It concerns us plenty"
"Yeah, we don't want to become like you!"
"Walking around kissing another male! Disgusting! What if kids saw!"
"You're basically telling them it's ok to be interested in the same gender!"
"Japan has no need for faggats like you!"
As the whole group yelled they started walking towards them.
"Karma?" Nagisa tugged at his boyfriend's sleeve
"Stay close" he said as he pulled Nagisa closer
Once they had gotten close enough Karma started to panic a bit, they were definitely much bigger than him and outnumbered him.
He could care less what happened to him, but it was Nagisa he was worried about.
"Instead of snooping into our little gay lives why don't you focus on your studies! It's not to late to graduate, unless you plan on graduating highschool at age 24"
"You shit!"
The guy who appeared to be the leader ran straight towards Karma, his fist ready to punch him.
The red head not wanting Nagisa to get caught up pushed him away as he took the punch and fell to the ground.
"Karma!"
'It's fine, I'm the reason why all this is happening in the first place'
Once down the group did not hesitate and immediately started beating him.
'I'll let them take their anger out on me if it means Nagisa won't get harmed'
"Karma!"
Upon hearing his name he looked up weakly.
"!!!!!"
Two of guys had surrounded the bluenette against the bridge.
"Nagisa!!!!"
Just as he was about to get up he was pinned down
His hands were forcefully placed behind his back while the 5 guys put all their weight on him, one of the males even holding his head up by his hair, making him watch what was about to happen.
"Bastards! If you touch him I'll kill you!"
"Haha! You sure speak big for a middle schooler!"
"What are you gonna do? We have you pinned down"
"Leave him alone! He has nothing to so with this! It's me you want!"
"He has everything to do with this"
"....."
As Nagisa was cornered one of them pulled out a blade on him
"You're probably the one who started it."
"Leave us alone"
They only ignored him as they continued
"You seduced him with those looks of yours huh?"
"He's probably not even your first"
The fattter male grabbed Nagisa by his hair and held him
"Let go!" Nagisa struggled breaking free from their grip
"Hahaha!"
The group laughed but that was soon outlived as Nagisa spit in the face of the guy infront of him
"......"
The guy wiped his face and glared at Nagisa before punching him
"Nagisa!"
Karma continued to struggle and watch hopelessly as they pointed the blade toward Nagisa.
"Leave him alone!!!"
Sadly his words were ignored and without any hesitation they stabbed Nagisa in the stomach before tossing him over the bridge
"NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Karma screamed the most inhuman scream and inraged threw all five boys off of him before running over and kicking the two boys out of his way as he jumped over the bridge to save Nagisa.

The second Karma got Nagisa out of the river he quickly hugged him to his chest as he pushed down on his wound.
"Nagisa stay with me!" He demanded, holding back tears
"......." Nagisa has his eyes closed as he was breathing weakly
"Please be ok......." Karma pressed his head to Nagisa's as police sirens were heard followed by flashing lights.
Someone must have seen what happened, and if not they most likely heard Karma's scream and went to check what happened and called the cops.

After a couple of minutes the ambulance had arrived and took both the boys to the hospital.

While Nagisa was rushed into surgery Karma had his injuries bandaged by the nurses.
It was then that an officer went up to him and informed him that all the teens were caught.

"Tch!"
'I should have been the one to catch them! To beat them! Kill them! Because of them Nagisa was hurt!'
'No.....because of me...'
'I was too weak to protect him. But no more, from now on I will always be by his side and protect him'
Flashback end
Karma POV
"That day I promised I would never let you get hurt, that I would always protect you"
"....."
"But it happened again, I was forced to watch as you got hurt"
My nails dug into my palm as I clentched my fists in frustration.
But all my anger faded when I felt Nagisa wrap his arms around me
"Nagisa?"
"I never blamed you, so stop blaming yourself"
"....I can't"
"Do you think I'm weak?"
"No! I...I just-"
"...You feel the need to always protect me because of your guilt. You feel guilty that you couldn't prevent anything from happening that day"
"......"
"Am I right?"
"I....I don't want to see you get hurt anymore"
When I looked up I didn't know what kind of facial expression I was expecting him to have but I was caught off guard when I saw him smile
"I know I can count on you, but you also need to understand that I can look after myself now"
"I...know"
He gave me one more smile before lightly pecking our lips together
"I'll always come to you if I ever need help, because I trust you, always"
"...I love you Nagisa" I spoke looking down, trying not to let him see my tears, but he wouldn't take that as an answer.
He lifted my chin up and wiped the tears that were rolling down my cheek with his thumb.
"I love you to" he whispered and leaned in, lightly kissing me
I think we're both wrong.......it's me who needs you Nagisa

In 2019 I made a promise to myself that I would stop writing when I wrote 100 chapters for this book, and I now the time has come to put this book to a close.
