Ryuji POV
Melissa and I finally get off the plane and head for my house.
"Jeez, there I need to repair both my earpiece and and watch gauntlet, those two things took longer to make them they look" I sigh
"Well now you've got me helping you out so it shouldn't take that long" Melissa says
"That's true, having you around is gonna bs a huge plus" I say
"I agree, having you around is definitely gonna help me improve my skills" she says
We get to my house and as we enter I see my mom.
"Oh Ryuji I'm so glad that you're ok" my mom says as she tackles me in a hug
"I'm glad I'm ok too" I say as I hug her back
"Why didn't you call me so that I could pick you up from the airport?" She asks
"My phone broke and Melissa doesn't have your number" I say
"Oh that's right! You must be Melissa, it's so good to meet you" my mom says to Melissa
"It's nice time meet you as well ma'am" Melissa responds
"Make sure you take care of my Ryuji" my mom says and sends a wink at Melissa
"Wh-What is th-that supposed to mean" Melissa says while blushing
"You are gonna be his lab partner right?" My mom says with a smug smile
"O-Oh right, y-yes I am" Melissa stammers
"You two remind me of me and my husband and how we met" my mom says
"Alright mom that's enough teasing, Melissa and I have some work to do" I say
"Oh Ryuji you're no fun" my mom pouts
"Come now Melissa I'll show to you my lab" I say as I take Melissa's hand
"A-Alright" she says
We head to my lab and as we enter I see my builder bots working on one of my newest suits.
"Hey Arvin, thanks for having my bots work while I'm gone" I say
"Oh thank goodness you're alright sir, I lost communications with you shortly after shot the gun out of that villains hand" Arvin says
"I can't die just yet" I say
"Ryuji, who's Arvin?" Melissa asks
"Arvin is my A.I that I made" I say
"You made an A.I!" Melissa exclaims
"That's right, Arvin here is an extremely sophisticated invention that I made" I say
"Not even my papa could probably code an A.I!" Melissa says
"Currently I'm working on a completely sentient robot that will be able to help people and heroes while I'm still in school" I say
"That's amazing!" Melissa says
"Well there are some parts that I could use your expertise in" I say with a smile
"It would be a dream come true to make a sentient robot!" Melissa says
"He'll basically be a much more self-aware version of Arvin" I say
"Sir shouldn't you focus on other things right now?" Arvin says
"Oh yeah, let's get to work on some repairs. I would also like to make an upgraded version of that healing spray that I made from when I first got stabbed" I say
"Artificial sigh, I guess that works too" Arvin says
We get to work and a little while later I have a thought.
"I wonder how Toru is doing?" I wonder,"wait a minute...does she even know I'm here?" I think
"What's up? You look like you've just realized something important" Melissa says
"I forgot to give Toru and the others a call and tell them that I'm ok..." I say
"....that's probably not good" she says
"I should probably get on that, you can keep working if you want, I'll be in my room" I say as I head to my room
Once I get up to my room I let out a deep sigh.
"I'm in for it aren't I" I say to myself
I pull out my recently fixed phone and I decide to call Midoriya first. A couple rings later he answers.
"T-Takashi is that you?! Are you ok?! Are you at home?!" Midoriya says franticly
"Slow down there buddy, yes it's the real me, yes I'm perfectly fine, and yes I'm at home. I've actually been at home for a while now but I got distracted" I say
"Thank goodness you're ok, I was super worried about you since you almost died" he says
"I won't die that easily, especially to some villain punk" I say
"Well I can tell that you're ok since you are talking like that" Midoriya says
"Is that so? Well then, since I'm perfectly fine that means that you're training is going to be back and even harder than before" I say
"Gulp, y-yes sir!" Midoriya says
"Glad you understand, I need to call Toru now so can you tell the rest of the class that I'm ok and back home" I say
"I'll g-get right in that" he says
I hang up and start to dial Toru's number.
"I'm getting a bad feeling" I say
I press call and mentally prepare myself for what's to come. Eventually she answers
"..." she's quiet
"T-Toru?" I say
"Are you home?" She asks on a flat tone
"Y-Yes I'm home, I got home a little while ago but I got distracted and forgot to call..." I say
"Good" she says and hangs up
"...I don't feel safe" I say as I start to sweat
A couple of minutes later I hear a knock at the door. I dash to the door and open it to see Toru there.
"H-Hey T-Toru, come on in" I say
"We are going it your room" she says
"M-My room it is" I say as I lead her to my room
We walk into my room and I close the door behind us
"S-So this is the first time you've ever been in my room, how is it-" I get cut off
"SLAP!!"
I didn't even see it coming, I get slapped and I fall to the floor.
"What was that for?!" I ask
"Do you have any idea how worried I was!" Toru yells
"I-I'm sorry that I forgot to call, I just got distracted with my work" I say
"I almost watch you die in my arms and you don't even think to call me! You just come here and head straight back to your work like nothing even happened!" She yells at me
"You know how invested I get" I say
"Clearly it's the only thing you ever get invested in! You always get so into your work that it's all you ever do! It took me asking you just so that we could hang out somewhere that isn't your lab! He'll, even the first time we hung out was just me watching you work in your lab while we sometimes talk!" She yells while showing me the selfie she took for our first time hanging out
And sure enough...I look in the background and it's just my lab.
"Do you even care about your friends! Do you even actually care about me!" She yells
"I-I do care" I say
"All you do is hold yourself up in your lab to work on your inventions! There is more to life than just your work and I don't think you realize it"
"..." I stay silent
"You promised me that you'd return to me safely, and what do you do! You get yourself stabbed in the stomach with metal railing! I don't think you realize how bad you actually were! If you weren't on I-Island you would have definitely died!" She yells now starting to cry
"I-I'm sorry..." I say
"You never think about how your actions will affect others! One day that's gonna get you killed and I'm scared to be a part of your life when that happens!" She yells
"T-Toru" I say
"I just can't believe you would care so little as to not even call! I couldn't sleep because every time I closed my eyes I saw the image of your limb body in my arms!" She says now crying
"T-Toru I'm sorry...I thought-" I get cut off
"You thought what?! You thought that everything would work out just fine?! I was told that they tried to kidnap you, if All Might hadn't gotten free then you'd be long gone by now! Stuck inside some cell rotting while you hopefully make suits until those villains kill you!" She yells as she falls to her knees crying
"I-I just couldn't sit around and do nothing" I say,"everyday I work on my inventions because I feel like I'm never strong enough, I lost against the Nomu, I only won the sports festival because Todoroki wasn't giving his all, and now I got beaten up and almost kidnapped" I say as I crawl over to her and give her a hug
"I know...I know you feel that way but I can't just watch as you keep almost getting yourself killed" she says
"I haven't died yet have I? I don't plan on it either. Those villains can come at me all they want but do you know who I am?" I softly ask
"You're Ryuji Takashi...The People's Hero:Avenger" she says
"That's right" I say as I wipe the tears from her face,"and everything I do is so that everyone has a chance to be happy and safe" I tell her
"Even so...you can't do that if you're dead...so I want you to promise me something" she says
"What would that be?" I ask
"I want you to promise me that you'll start to thing about the people who care about you before you do something reckless" she says
"Toru...i always think about those who I care about. Why do you think I go to such lengths to protect and save those I care about" I say
"I just want you to be safe..." she says
"Oh Toru...It's a heroes job to risk their life for people" I say
"Jeez, I just can't stay mad at you, can I?" she says with a small laugh
"It's one of my charms" I say with a smile
"I mean what I say about you focusing to much on your work though" she sternly says while she wipes her eyes
"I just don't really have anything other hobbies"
I say
"Well...I can help you with that" she says
"I would like that" I say
We stay there hugging in silence for couple more minutes.
"Man, you really slapped me right in the face" I say
"S-Sorry about that" she says
"I couldn't even react since I literally didn't see it coming" I say while rubbing my cheek
"J-Jeez I said I was sorry" Toru says
"Sorries won't heal my red cheek" I jokingly say
We both laugh and we stand up.
"Well...would you like to stay over a bit?" I ask
"You're just gonna go back to your lab either way so I might as well be there so that you aren't alone"
Toru says
"Oh shoot...yeah about me being alone..."I say
"What's that mean?" She asks
"Well let's just say that I have a new lab assistant that's going to be living here..." I say
"Have they been here the whole time?" Toru asks
"Yeah they are in my lab, luckily my room is sound proof so nobody in my house heard you" I say
"Well I'd love to meet him" Toru says
"You already have" I whisper
"What was that?" She asks
"Let's just go to my lab" I say
We head to my lab and I open the door.
"I'm back!" I say
"Welcome back, I've just about finished with the healing spray canister that we can add to your suit" Melissa says
"Melissa!" Toru exclaims
"Oh hey Toru" Melissa says
"W-Why are you here?!" Toru asks
"I'm living with Ryuji here so that I can finish up my schooling at U.A, his dad and my papa know each other so they thought it would be a good idea" Melissa says,"plus it would be a good chance for us to learn more form each other" she tells Toru
"Trust me I was surprised too when David said that she was gonna be living here" I say
"I-Is that so? Well it's nice that you now have a capable lab assistant" Toru say but her tone sounds a bit irritated
"Ah yes, Ryuji and I came up with so many ideas during our plane ride here, I apologize if I end up taking too much of his time" Melissa says while stating at Toru
"Oh don't worry, Ryuji here is gonna try and not be so much of a workaholic so he'll have plenty of time for me to show him new things" Toru says back
"Why do I sense hostility between these two...?" I wonder
"Anyways, Ryuji if you don't mind could you help me finish up the canister so that we can attach it to your suit?" Melissa says
"Uh yeah let's get to that" I say
Melissa and I finish up the canister and attach it to my suit, then we adjust the suit so that it will still go into its suitcase form with the new attachment. Eventually it gets late out and Toru has to go home. She leaves and Melissa and I eat dinner and head to bed.
"Jeez I can still feel that slap" I say as I fall asleep
Arvin wakes Melissa and me up and we get ready for school. We walk out and see Toru waiting for me as usual. We walk to school but I can sense that there is some tension between the two. We arrive to the school and Melissa heads to her class as we make our way to ours and take our seats.
"Takashi" I hear someone say
I look behind to see ponytail
"Oh hey ponytail" I say
"I see that you're doing well" she says
"I can't die yet, I've still got my 1st place to hold for the finals" I say with a smug grin
"Well you better be prepared to come in 2nd place for next semester finals" she says with a challenging smile
"In your dreams" I respond
Speaking of finals, I look over to see a bunch of people looking down.
"What happened to them?" I ask
"They all failed their finals so they can't go to camp" Toru says
"Heh, sucks to be them" I say
"Takashi you wouldn't understand" pin-Ashido says
"Yeah you easily passed your exams, you wouldn't understand how it feels to be us" Kaminari says
"I guess you're right, if I didn't also have to bust my ass for the practical part of the finals" I say
"At least you're passed the practical!" Kirishima says
"That's true" I say
"Once the bell rings, get in your seats" Aizawa says
Everyone rushes to their seats and stays quiet.
"Unfortunately, there are those who didn't pass the final exams.Accordingly, for the training camp I'm the woods..." Aizawa says
"What, is everyone gonna end up going?" I think
"Everyone's going!" Aizawa says with a creepy smile
"A last minute twist!" Those who failed yell
"We can go, too?" Kirishima asks
"Really?!" Ashido exclaims
"Yeah. Some failed, but nobody failed the written exam. In the practical, Kirishima, Kaminari, Ashido, Sato, and Sero failed" Aizawa says
"I knew it...just because my team passed didn't mean I scored high enough not to fail..." Sero says sadly
"For this exam, we on the villain side made sure to leave a way for the students to win while watching to see how you all would take on the task at hand. If we hadn't, most of you would've gotten stuck before you started" Aizawa explains
"So that's why I didn't get caught by the giant clone..." I think
"So when you said that you were out to crush us..." tail guy who's name I don't know says
"That was to make you feel concerned. In the first place, the training camp in the woods is one to increase strength. So those who failed need it the most. They have to get stronger." Aizawa explains
"This sounds familiar" I think
"It was a rational falsehood" Aizawa says with a weird smile
"A rational falsehood?!" Those who failed exclaimed
"I was tricked again! As expected of U.A" Iida says,"However, since you lied to us twice, our faith in you will waiver!" He exclaims
"Wow, you're being a wet blanket, Iida" Uraraka says
"That's true, I'll consider that" Aizawa says,"But, I wasn't lying about everything. Failure is failure. We have prepared a separate time for extra lessons for you all!" Aizawa says,"Frankly, it'll be tougher than the extra lessons you'd get if you stayed at school" Aizawa says while staring at the students who failed
The rest of the day passes and eventually the final bell rings.
"Well I'm glad that we can all go together" tail guy who's name I still don't know says
"A well of training camp, huh" Iida says
"We'll have to bring a lot with us" Midoriya says
"I don't have a bathing suit or anything. I'll have to buy a lot of stuff" Kaminari says
"Oh, then since we are off tomorrow, and we just finished out exams, why doesn't Class A all go shopping together?!" Toru says
"Oh, good idea! Wouldn't it bet he first time we all hung out together?" Kaminari asks
"Hey, Bakugo, you're coming too!" Kirishima says
"Like hell I would do something like that" Bakugo says
"Will you come, too, Todoroki?" Midoriya asks
"I visit my mom in my days off" he says
"What about you, Takashi?" Uraraka asks
"I need somethings anyways. Plus Toru would drag me there even if I tried to not go" I say
"Hey!" Toru pouts
"I'm just saying" I say as I exit the classroom
The next say I tell Melissa if she wants to come too, she says she's busy working on a school project so I leave without her. I head out and meet Toru outside and head to the mall. We get there and we are the first ones there so we wait for the rest of the class. As they start to show up Toru and I talk about what we are gonna buy. Eventually everyone who says they were gonna show arrived and we split up into groups to go shopping.
"Sorry Hagakure but Takashi here is going with us guys" Kaminari says
"Do I have to?" I ask
"Yes you do! You need some bro time in your life" Kirishima says
"This is a perfect opportunity to bond with some of our classmates, plus I'm gonna go with the girls anyways" Toru says
"I suppose I don't have a choice then" I say
"Great!" Kirishima says
I walk off with Kirishima and Kaminari
"So dude what's the deal with you and Hagakure?" Kaminari nudges me
"Don't touch me, and what do you mean by that?" I ask
"You guys are always hanging out together, I can't help but think that something is going on" Kaminari says while raising his eyebrows
"I assume you think that we are dating" I say
"So you are?!" Kirishima says
"Don't put words in my mouth, and no we aren't. I just don't have many friends" I say
"Well if you give the rest of the class a chance then we could be your friends" Kirishima says
"Don't worry, I assure you that I'm actually trying to open up. If I wasn't I wouldn't be using your actual names" I say
"Good point" Kaminari says
"Well I'm glad you're opening up more" Kirishima says
"Yeah, now that you are you...think I could snag one of those fancy sui-" I cut Kaminari off
"Don't push it" I say
"That's fair" he responds
We go to different stores and buy all the stuff we need, after that we kinda just hang out and I actually find myself to be enjoying it a tiny bit. Then the speaker turns on and tells everyone to evacuate the building, it turns out that the leader of the league of villains came and attacked Midoriya. We all go home after that and I work with Melissa for a bit before we both head to bed.
It's the weekend and I get a knock on my door. I open it to see Midoriya, Kaminari, and grape.
"Why are you here?" I ask
"Kaminari and Mineta want to use the pool for training and we're wondering if they can have our help asking Aizawa?" Midoriya says
"...I'll help but I'm not doing the swimming part" I say
"That's fine!" Kaminari says
We go to the school and I ask Aizawa if they could use the pool for training. He says yes and we head to the pool only to find everyone else there too
"You're late!" Iida says as Kaminari and Grape crash to the floor
"Why are you guys here!" Grape yells
"Since we are doing pool endurance training at the pool, I messaged everyone to see if they wanted to come" Midoriya says
"Doesn't matter to me because I may just have these trunks on but I won't be swimming" I say as bring out a poolside chair and lay on it
"But Takashi! That's why all the boys are here" Iida says
"I told those three that my condition to coming was that I wouldn't be swimming and Kaminari agreed" I say
"Kaminari!" Iida exclaims
"Sorry, I was just in a hurry to get here" Kaminari says
"You guys have fun having a boys sweat group" I say as I lay my head back and close my eyes
I listen as the girls play around and the boys to exercises.
"Hey, Takashi!" I hear Ashido yell
"What's up?" I ask
"Do you think you could ref our game?" Ashido asks
"I don't see why not" I say as I grab my chair and turn it into a refs seat
"Wow that's so cool!" Uraraka exclaims
"I call it my all in one chair, this bad boy could tune from a lawn chair to a life guards seat" I say
I ref their game of whatever they are playing.
"Takashi why don't you swim with us?" Toru says
"No thanks" I say
"Why not?" She ask
"I don't feel like swimming" I say
"Then you wouldn't mind if I push you in?" Toru says while coming towards me
"Don't do this Toru" I say as I back away
"Sorry Takashi but this has to happen" I hear Uraraka say from behind me
I'm surrounded on all sides
"Listen, you don't want to do this" I say
"I think I do" Toru says
"I'm not a very good swimmer" I say
"You'll be fine, we're all here to help" Toru says
"I don't see how this is funny" I plead
"But we do" ponytail says
I then get grabbed and tossed into the pool. I swim up and stare at them.
"That's it" I say as I splash the girls
We then get into a splashing fight
"Why must Takashi be so lucky" grape and sparky say
Eventually I win and our pool time runs out. I go home and head to my lab.
"Hey Melissa, tomorrow I'll be going to the training camp so the lab will be all yours for like a week" I say
"Alrighty, I'll make sure to take good care of it" she says
"Don't miss me too much" I say
"I should say that to you" she replies
"I guess you're right, I will miss by lab partner" I say
"P-Partner!"she exclaims
"Yeah, you're my valued lab partner" I say
"O-Of course, a-and you're mine as w-well" she says while blushing
"That's good to know, anyways I'll be going to bed early so I probably won't see you tomorrow morning" I say as I leave the lab
"G-Goodnight, and good luck out there" Melissa says
"I don't need luck" I say as I leave and go to my room
I tell Toru that I'll come and pick her up early so that she doesn't oversleep then I head to bed myself.
"How hard can a quirk training camp be for someone like me" are my final thoughts before I fall asleep...
