Chapter 30
*Vic's POV*
So we finished breakfast and we were now driving home. The car ride was silent so I decided to put some music. Except there was nothing on so I turned it off again.
"So, why were you talking to my dad in the bathroom?" Scarlett asked after a while.
"Well he was telling me about this dinner party Alex invited him too. Like a little get together with some bands and their families. He wanted to take you and Kat-" I said but was interrupted by Scarlett.
"What?! Wait so I'm going to have dinner with some bitch that I don't know! How is that fair?! I don't know this lady. For all I know she could be a freaking witch!" Scarlett complained. I should've seen this coming. I need to think of something because Kellin wasn't going to take no for an answer.
"Scarlett, Katlynne is really nice. She's not a bitch so don't call her that, alright? Plus other bands are going to be there. If anything you could hang out with the guys and I, and just sit with them during dinner. Come on Scare! This could be fun, just give her a chance, please!" I tell her in a pleading voice.
I could tell she felt guilty. I knew Katlynne and she was genuinely a nice person. Plus I wanted Scarlett to forgive and not be mad at her anymore. Kellin is my best friend, I didn't want him to be stuck in the situation where two girls he really cares about don't like each other.
"So, when's the dinner?" Scarlett asked, I knew she was hooked.
"Today at 5:25." I told her, trying to hide the smile on my face.
"Ugh, I'm only doing this because I feel bad for causing alot of stress for Kellin!" Scarlett said and I let out a big sigh.
"Okay good!" I said and with that I looked over at her and smiled big at her. She just smiled, laughed and rolled her eyes.
*Scarlett's POV*
So it was now 4:24 pm and I was straightening my brown, curly, long hair in the bathroom. I've always wanted to dye my hair blue and have a scene hairstyle because I thought I would look cute with it. Make sure to ask Kellin later, I thought to myself.
I was looking at myself in the mirror, when I saw a black mist of smoke in the corner of the mirror. Quickly I turned around, yet nothing was there. I turned back to the mirror and it was gone. I thought that was very odd and got very curious. I couldn't imagine it, couldn't I?
I finished the rest of my hair, wondering what the heck that black mist of smoke was and went out of the bathroom.
"It's about time, you took forever." Mike joked and I laughed.
"Hey, beauty doesn't take five seconds sir!" I said and he laughed, going inside the bathroom.
I went to the small kitchen area to find Kellin looking inside the refrigerator for something.
"You know it's considered rude to look in someone else's refrigerator without their consent." I said serious and Kellin turned around.
"Yea but it's also considered rude not to feed your visitors!" Kellin said but yelled the last part for Vic, I'm guessing, to hear.
"We're going to eat in a little bit!" Vic yelled back from his room.
"I'm still hungry!" Kellin yelled back and Vic jus laughed. I did the same and my dad made a pouty face.
"Awee, ish someone hungwy." I said and Kellin nodded.
"I got an idea. Why don't we skip the whole dinner thingy and me and you could go out together. Just me and you!" I said, trying not to sound to eager.
Truth was I seriously didn't want to go to this dinner thing. The bands had it every year before Warped Tour and I always went with dad. I never thought he would bring Katlynne and her kids with him this time. It was like our thing. Just the two of us hanging out with bands like All Time Low, Black Veil Brides, Pierce The Veil, Bring Me The Horizon, Of Mice & Men and many more. Now Katlynne is going to come with her kids and I feel like Kellin is going to ignore me completely.
"Ha nice try missy", Kellin said snapping me out of my though, "but we are going to go, alright. I know things between you and my wife aren't that great, but please try to get along with her. I really want you to see that she's amazing and you'll like her! Please Scar, for me?"
"Okay okay I will. I'll behave. But only because I don't want to ruin the happy mood for everyone else." I say and Kellin hugs me.
"Thank you, sweetie." Kellin says and kisses the top of my head. I just smile and nod.
"Now lets go see if Vic and Mike are ready to go, I don't wanna get there late. Plus we need to pick up Katlynne, Copeland, Rowan and Liam." Kellin said. Those names filled me with anger but I need to relax.
Breathe Scarlett, remember you have to behave because then Kellin will give your stupid ass up for adoption, my thoughts screamed at me.
I doubt he would give me up for adoption, I thought. But I did need to relax and be as calm as possible.
"So we're going together in one car?" I asked
"No but Vic doesn't know how to go to the place." Kellin said and I nodded.
"Yo Vic! You ready to go?" Kellin said as we approached his room.
"Yea hold up." Vic said.
Vic was wearing a white dress shirt with black jeans. A black tie and black converse. He was wearing a silver watch on right wrist.
Kellin was wearing a red, plaid shirt with black jeans. Black vans and had a couple bracelets on his right wrist. Also he was wearing his wedding ring, of course.
I was still wearing the same shirt from earlier but now I had put on black tights and jean like shorts that were ripped. Yes it was hot outside but I don't feel comfortable with just shorts on.
"Alright, lets go." Vic says and smiles at me. I smile back, even though it was a fake one. Vic takes it as a sign that I wasn't as excited as I've always been but doesn't say anything.
"Mike lets go!" Kellin screams and bangs on the door.
"Hey, you're gunna break my door!" Vic says and Kellin just shrugged.
He banged but there was no answer. He did it the third time but now Vic was telling Kellin to stop and moved him out of the way so he could open it. Kellin put his hands up in defense and backed away.
"Mike, what are you doing? Lets go we're going to be late." Vic said through the door.
"I'm coming, I'm coming! Can you guys wait for me outside. I just need to finish up." Mike said and Vic let out a small, silent sigh.
"Alright but hurry up." Vic said and then turned over to me and Kellin, "sorry I don't know why he's acting like this. Damn I sound like a parent. Anyways lets go wait outside."
"Okay let's go Scar-" Kellin said grabbing my hand but got interrupted by Mike.
"Hey Kel, you think Scarlett can stay? I need help with my tie and shit." Mike said and opened the door a bit. I noticed Mike was wearing a blue dress shirt with a black undid tie. Black knee length shorts and black toms.
"Oh yea sure. We'll meet you guys outside." Kellin said and let me go.
I watched as both Kellin and Vic exited the apartment and then I turned my attention back on Mike, who was already fixing his tie.
"Really? Why did u need my help? It looks fine." I told him with a confused look.
"That's not why I wanted you to stay. I need to talk to you about tonight." Mike said while looking in the mirror. I already knew what he was going to say. It was about Katelynne and me.
"Okay yea I know. Be on my behave and be nice to her, blah blah blah! I know Mikey don't worry I will." I said in a truthful tone. I don't get why I have to be the only nice one. If anything they should be giving her this talk too.
"Oh, um I was just gunna ask if I looked okay in this shirt. But yea that too." Mike said and I instantly felt my face go red. Dammit next time let him finish retard, I thought to myself.
"Oh, actually then you should change your shirt. Put the blue sleeve less shirt on. It goes better with your shorts. And sorry it's just Vic and my dad, and basically everyone, tells me to be nice to her. And I thought you were gunna tell me the same thing. It gets on my nerves to be honest." I told him and he was now looking at me with a little smirk.
"What?" I asked in confusion.
"Your jealous?" Mike asked and I stared at him in shock. He left the bathroom and went to his room to get what I told him what he should wear. Then he returned to the bathroom to put some cologne on.
"Me? Jealous? Of what?! Im never jealous." I told him in annoyance in my voice.
"Okay just checking," He said with a little smile, "now come one little Miss. Jealously, before I get killed."
Mike was now laughing and we left the bathroom and exited the apartment. We arrived at the elevator and waited for it to come up.
I thought about what Mike said. Was I really jealous of Katelynne? No I couldn't be. Why would I be? What did she have that I didn't? Your dads affection and actual love, a voice screamed from the back of my head. That wasn't true, was it? Of course it was! Why would he care about you! Shit why would anyone care about you?! Your such a fuck up, it screamed back at me.
That's when I was snapped out of my conversation with myself by the sound of a ding. I looked over at Mike and he looked like he was in a trance as well. Wow at least I'm not the only one, I thought.
The doors opened and I rushed in to push the button. I heard Mike laugh and I smiled up at him. The door closed and I felt us go down.
"When will I be able to push the button?" Mike asked with a smile
"When I am not with you or when you become faster." I said with a smirk.
"So never?" He said
"Yea basically!" I said and we both laughed. The door opened and we exited the elevator and went outside, meeting my dad and Vic.
"About time Mike, did you get lost up there?" Vic asked, smiling, and Mike laughed too.
"No, almost did, but no." Mike said and laughed.
I looked over to see my dad was on the phone.
"Who's he talking to?" I asked Vic, pointing over to Kellin.
"Oh just Katelynne." Vic said and giving me a small smile.
"Oh." was all I said. My blood bubbled and I felt this sick feeling in my gut. Anger filled in my eyes as I watch Kellin smile and laugh with his wife on the phone.
Calm the fuck down Scarlett, a different voice told me. I relaxed a bit. I looked over to Mike, who was already looking over at me. He had that look of 'I told you so' on his face and I just rolled my eyes.
"Dad! Are we leaving already?" I yelled over at him, now looking over at Kellin. He looked over at me smiling and nodded. He approached over to us.
"Alright, I'll see you in a bit. I love you to. Bye." Kellin said into the phone and then hung up the phone.
"Alright you ready guys?" Vic asked and we all nodded.
"Lets go then. Scarlett you wanna ride with me and Mike or with your dad?" Vic asked me.
"I'll ride with my dad then I'll go with you guys when my dad picks up Katelynne." I said that last word as natural as possible, hopefully no one caught onto that.
"Okay." Vic said. He looked at me as if he were saying 'you sure?'. I looked at him with a reassuring smile that said 'yea'.
After that my dad and I went to our car and Vic and Mike went to theirs. I sat in the front seat of my dads car. Kellin went to the drivers seat and started the car. I turned on the radio and switched it to where the good music was played. I Am Bulletproof by Black Veil Brides was playing.
We drove off in silence. I stared out the window, not saying a word. I was thinking about how today would be. I just really hope nothing bad happens. Please can I have one day with no drama, I ask myself. Is that so much to ask for?
