I poured my cup of coffee and added the milk; I could hear Brook babbling away on the phone. Today was Sunday, yesterday I basically spent the whole day complaining about Ash, trying to get him out of my head. Me and Brook moped around all day, watching depressing films about love.
“What you and Brook doing today?” Sam asked as he walked in and drank from the milk bottle.
“That is disgusting” I cursed, pulling the bottle from his hands. He frowned, grabbed a piece of toast then walked back up the stairs. Saying “I’ll be in my room. Dying of thirst” Talk about dramatic.
“Want to grab a donut?” Brook walked into the kitchen, texting again while speaking to me.
“Sure” I replied, grabbing my car keys and coat. Brook excused herself and went to the toilet. I stood, impatiently tapping my foot.
Brooks phone beeped, I walked over and saw Ash’s ID on the screen. Curiosity took over me; I picked it up and opened the message from Ash.
Ash: Make sure she’s gone when I come to Sam’s house.
Tears threatened to spill over my face, I realised I was crying over Ash. Why was I crying over Ash? If he didn’t believe me, what kind of person was he?
I heard the toilet flush so stood up quickly and acted innocent.
“What did you break?” Brook laughed, walking back to look at her phone.
“Nothing, I don’t really feel in the mood for a donut now, want to stay here and watch a film? Popcorn?” I asked but Brook just shook her head.
“I need a donut, it’s the only bit of fat I get this week and it has to be eaten today. That’s what my diet book says” Brook whined. Brook was not fat but she was on diets most of the time.
I sat down on the couch, proving I wasn’t going to leave. Brook sighed then gave in; I could hear the cogs ticking in her head. She was thinking up a new plan.
Before she could drag me out of the house there was a bang on the door. I jumped out of my seat and jogged to the door, Brook hot on my heels.
I opened it to see a sad looking Ash. He looked shocked to see me but suddenly masked it with a look of disgust.
“Is Sam in?” Ash asked, looking everywhere apart from me.
“Yes” I answered weakly; Ash scared me when he acted like this.
“Well, can I come in?” I opened the door to let him in and he walked past me. I grabbed his arm before he could run up the stairs and looked at him.
“Can’t we talk about this Ash?” I pleaded, hoping he would understand.
“No” I watched him run up the stairs and realised it will take a lot more to win over Ash.
