Welcome to my very first SasuNaru story !
I’ve read millions of SasuNaru stories out there and I thought it’s my turn to contribute one.
A few heads-up for the story ;
➬ I’ve been obsessing over Yandere!Sasuke stories so expect that Sasu’s may be a bit obsessive.
➬ This’ll be canon divergence story, so don’t expect I’ll completely follow the anime.
➬ This is a SasuNaru story, Sasu will be the one using the top bunk while Naru will sleep on the bottom one, ‘kay?.
➬ I don’t plan to earn a single penny from this, I’ll write purely for my entertainment and hopefully for yours too.
➬ And for some unknown reason, ‘Naruto’ ain’t mine :/

8/22/21: If someone would ask me, what story of mine, I hate the most, I’ll shout this one. Because for some unknown reason I made Naruto so weak when he’s the total opposite. Apologies 🙇🏻♂️. I’ll try to correct that and edit the chapters, expect that this would effect the plot but I don’t care, Naruto’s ain’t Naruto if he would be weakling. That’s child!Sakura’s job.
Ironically enough, this is also my most popular story, the one I hate the most is the one gaining the most attention, fuck me sidewards.
| Prologue : Promise From The Past
“What?! Gaara is the new Kazekage!?,” Naruto exclaimed with his normal loud voice. Gaara had become a ‘kage’ before him, and he wasn’t even dreaming nor wanting becoming one. Is the so-called universe hate him that much?
Naruto’s happy for Gaara, of course, he really is. He just couldn’t help but to feel envious of him, that is obviously a normal reaction from, and of course, he will turn this dark envious feeling inside him into something more positive ones, his friend’s promotion will be used as another reason why he should work hard to meet Gaara in the Kage summit as his fellow Kage, and he swears that scenario won’t be long from today – he just couldn’t wait to be dismissed by Tsunade and go start writing a letter for his newly-elected Kazekage friend.
Tsunade grumbled as her hands itched to be wrapped in a bottle of saké, she could tell she would suffer a headache if Naruto continue to be this loud in this early morning. She clicked her tongue irritation, “Naruto lower down your volume, you’ll give me a headache and I haven’t started to work, yet.” She practically begged.
She then proceeds to raise her middle finger to ‘professionalism’ while pouring down a glass of her ever-favorite drink, ignoring the disbelieved gazes thrown on her way.
“Is this the only reason why you summoned us, Hokage-sama?,” Sakura asked politely, careful not to offend the Hokage. She had a strong feeling that she was wrong, as it didn’t felt right to be summoned just to be informed that a new Kazekage was elected, unless if Tsunade wants them to assassinate the said kage.
It would’ve beem more understandable if Naruto was the only one being called, Naruto and Gaara grew closer over the years as they treat each other like brothers.
“Well, it’s a part of the reason why, but, that’s not the only reason. I have a mission for you four and please do not disappoint me – ” Tsunade didn’t get the chance to finish speaking, when a certain blond interrupt her.
“When did I ever disappointed you, Baa-chan?!” Naruto shouted with a offended expression, as he stare at her with complete disbelief, only to realize that what he just did was a bad move.
“Didn’t I told you to lower down your voice? Are you deaf?!” The Lady Hokage hissed, she looked like she was ready to throw Naruto down the large window behind her, Naruto fearfully backed away, feeling afraid of the Hokage’s glare.
“Maa, maa . . . Calm down Lady Tsunade. That’s just how Naruto speak normally.” Kakashi said, defending Naruto and stand between the two before something happens.
“Hokage-sama, What kind of mission are you going to give us?,” A certain pale artist nonchalantly asked, Sakura internally sweat-dropped at how nonchalant the skinned artist was, Do this guy even feel any emotions?, The rosette kunoichi silently wondered, her thoughts immediately went to a certain raven Uchiha. Sakura immediately discarded the thought of their former teammate – not wanting to be distracted during a mission.
Tsunade cleared her throat and just went back to her desk, she took out two envelopes, she handed them to Kakashi, the team seven’s Sensei just silently read what the two envelopes contains. Both Sakura and Naruto want to peak but hold themselves.
Sensing their curiosity Tsunade filled the blanks for them, “The small one is a congratulatory letter for the new elected Kazekage whilst the other one contains a S-rank secrets, be sure Gaara will have that envelope. Many rogues would want that envelope. Do not let anyone have it.”
“Of course, We won’t!” Naruto bragged as usual. Tsunade didn’t bother scolding him again, she knows her scolding would just go from Naruto’s left ear and go out to the right.
But, she also knows Naruto keep his words. All of them know, Naruto won’t let this mission go to fail.
“All of dismissed, except for you Kakashi,” Naruto and his teammates nodded and went their way to the front door, before they could totally left the room, they were stopped by their Sensei’s voice.
“Pack all the stuff you think you will need during the mission. We’ll leave at eight, sharp.” Kakashi instructed, his students roll their eyes at him, as they know their mentor will most likely be late and they will leave later than eight, probably ten at the evening.
While the new team seven walk down the narrow corridor, Naruto noticed one of his teammates is acting somewhat strange.
“Sakura-chan, what’s wrong?,” Naruto asked and walk beside her, Sakura looked hesitant if she should tell Naruto what's bugging her.
The pink haired Kunoichi sighed, “I just suddenly thought about him,” she explained, Naruto didn’t need to ask who's him Sakura is talking about.
Sakura again looked reluctant about continue, “I think ... We should stop convincing him to comeback ...” She said not the confused Uzumaki.
“Are you saying we should just give up?,” Naruto in complete bewilderment. Naruto didn’t expect Sakura – out of all people – to suggest giving up on Sasuke.
“Yes, we should just give up. He clearly don’t want to comeback, so why bother forcing him?,” She retorted.
“That’s it? We’ll just let him believe that we didn’t even try to bring him back –” Naruto tried explaining.
“Naruto, snap out of it. He hate us now! He wants us dead, he changed! The only thing we can do now is to move on.” Sakura insisted, “I was there when he walked out the gates, I begged him to stay – I even suggest to go with him, Naruto!.” She was practically screaming, few jōnins were discreetly glancing their way.
“That night I realized that he completely changed after the chuunin exams, there’s hope for him anymore Naruto.”
“I can’t believe this.” Naruto muttered while he stare at Sakura with a look of betrayal, “Why are you so stubborn? If this is about the promise you made when we were young then just forget about it.” Sakura hissed in frustration.
“Well, I’m sorry. Even if Sasuke hates me, I will would never harbor any hatred for him, Sasuke is still my friend, he’s important to me, I’m going to bring him back, no one can stop me ... Even if it’s the last thing I’ll do.” Naruto stated and sunshinn’d away.

“Naruto, wait!” Sakura said and was about to chase Naruto when someone gripped her shoulders from running, “Kaka-Sensei.” She whispered.
“I think ... we should give him time to cool down.” Kakashi suggested as he immediately went on when his student looked like she was about to disagree, “Just go and pack your stuff. This’s going to be a week-long mission.” The Jōnin ordered.
“Kakashi-Sensei, I didn’t mean to upset him. It’s just – I don’t want Naruto to go too hard on himself …”
“I know Sakura, you could apologize to him during our mission.” Kakashi gently advised, as he tried to lighten up the mood, Kakashi then faced Sai – who was silently watching the everything before him with mild amusement, “You know Sai, sometimes, I keep forgetting you’re there.” Kakashi bluntly admit as Sai smiled and answered, “I’m used to it.”
Kakashi blinked, and wondered if he had offended him but didn’t bother asking, “Sai, you should go and start packing. Me and Sakura will have some catching up to do.” Kakashi ended his statement with a small chuckle.
Sai knowingly hum and excused himself before he disappeared, using the window so he could leave them to themselves.
Both Sakura and Kakashi walked down the stairs and exit the Hokage’s tower, a comfortable silence between them. Both of them honestly do not know where they were going.
“So, how is my favorite kunoichi student?,” Kakashi playfully asked as they noticed that their mindless walking they managed to arrived at a lake. Sakura noticed that it was almost sunset, giving the lake an orange hue, she silently sat down as Kakashi mimicked her actions. There was a comfortable space between them as they watch the sun diminish.
“Sensei, I’m your only kunoichi student." Sakura retorted, answering Kakashi’s question earlier as she remember she haven’t answered him yet – though, she was aware she didn’t completely gave him an answer, she started to pat the grass – dusting of any unwanted pest.
Kakashi merely hum as he ignored her comment and just stare at nothing in particular.
“You know, I missed the old days.” Kakashi croaked, while he stare at the monument of the past Hokages, specifically staring at his late Sensei – Minato.
Noticing this, Sakura confusedly asked, “When Naruto used to paint the Yondaime’s face?,”
Kakashi chuckled, “Yeah,” They were once again engulfed by dilence. No one bother breaking the peaceful atmosphere, when out of a sudden, Kakashi suddenly dropped the bomb, “You like him don’t you?,” Kakashi accused as his calculative eyes were accusingly stared at Sakura.
“What – What do you mean, Sensei?,” Sakura asked as she tried to distract herself from being nervous by playing with a strand of her hair, though the mild blush on her cheeks was enough to say otherwise.
“You know what I’m talking about.” Kakashi casually retorted, he didn’t bother saying more as Sakura gave up and just nodded. There’s no way she could escape Kakashi when he’s this determined, “Yes, I do like him.” Sakura said in a hushed tone, staring down at the beautiful scenery, admiring her reflection on the water below her.
“What about Sasuke?” Kakashi questioned, the wind blowing their hair gently, though, the both of them didn’t mind fixing it to place.
“What about him?,”
“Weren’t you supposed to be in love with him?,” Kakashi finally drop the most important question, “Some things change, Sensei. I don’t like Sasuke anymore, it was just a stupid infatuation – a competition who would get acknowledge by him wins,”
“I could technically say it was a childhood crush – you know Kaka-sensei, now that I think about it, I find my adoration for him back then, funny and concerning,” she chuckled as she went on, “I was literally obsessed with Sasuke.”
Kakashi looked skeptical with her remarks about her feelings, “Are you sure that the feelings you feel for Naruto now isn’t just a stupid infatuation?,” Sakura looked startled by the question but immediately changed into a determined expression, she stood up leaving Kakashi sitting on the ground.
“To be honest, it’s too early for me to say I’m in love with him – but I’m sure I care for him sensei. I’m going to protect him as I’m he would do the same to me, I’m willing to protect him, even if I’ll be needed to protect him from himself.”

seven:fifty-eight in the evening
Naruto had arrived at the Sakura Tree, the usual meeting place of Team Seven, ever since they were just chūnnin, where Naruto and Sasuke would always fight and Kakashi would be there to calm them down.
Naruto then thought about his Jiji - the former Hokage always give them D-rank mission, and Naruto despise them, because according to him – the mission were too easy.
Naruto had already finished pack, not that he owned many things, it was the kunais that occupied most portion of his bag, but he still packed the things he thought he would need for the mission, clothes, essentials – but he didn’t packed too much as he thought it would be too heavy and too troublesome to carry – he just sounded like Shikamaru, didn’t he?.
Naruto just sat on the old bench, unconsciously admiring his surrounding and wordlessly stare at the stars above him, he patiently waited for the others to arrive, normally he’s not one to arrive early but he was too distracted by the argument he had with Sakura that he didn’t noticed he had finished everything, and he was ready to go.
As he continues to patiently wait, his brain had reminded him with the old times where he and his teammates would always sit here as they impatiently waited for their punctual Sensei to arrive, Kakashi would sometimes take five hours to arrive, and he and Sakura would scream at him for being tardy. And then, Kakashi would make some half-assed excused and they would again scream at him for lying.
He couldn’t help but to imagine if Sasuke didn’t left – would he be here and wait with him? Would they spar regularly and be strong together? What if Sasuke didn’t get marked by Orochimaru and stayed with him – them instead?
Naruto let out a exasperated sigh, they haven’t started their mission yet and he already felt tired.
“What’s with the heavy sigh Naruto?,” Sai asked and sat beside the Jinchūriki.
“Nothing, I’m just thinking about something.” Naruto muttered and put his face on his palm, feeling sleepy.
Sai chuckled “Is it because Hinata-chan’s stalking you, again?.” The raven playfully asked. Naruto then felt his drowsiness vanished, his blue eyes widened abnormally at Sai’s words, “What did you just say?,” Naruto asked.
“Oh? You didn’t know? She’d been behind that tree this whole time.” Sai explained while his skinned finger pointed at a big tall tree in front of them, “Come out Hinata-chan, we know you’re there.” Sai said with faked cheerfulness, Naruto visibly cringe at how fake Sai’s smile looked, he looked like he couldn’t a shit out.
Naruto forced himself to direct his attention to the tree Sai was talking about and was surprised when he saw that someone indeed came out behind him, a familiar Hyuūga heiress came to view.
“N - Naruto-kun,” Hinata greeted with soft whispers, she stood there with her usual stance – playing with her pointer fingers while looking down.
“Hey, Hinata-chan. How are you?,” Naruto asked as he stalked towards her, Naruto noticed that every step he takes, Hinata’s stepping back backwards as her blush grew brighter – this made Naruto worry for her.
“Hinata-chan, your face is so red. Are you sick?.” Naruto asked as he emphasize the word ‘so’ to prove his point, his azure eyes staring directly at her pale ones, Naruto also noticed that Hinata was staring everywhere but him.
It’s now or never, Hinata thought determinedly, besides, it’s just three simple words. She finally said those words to him, she could run away and begged the ground to swallow her whole.
“I have s - something important to tell,” Hinata whispered so quietly that Naruto had to leaned to hear her next words, I can do this, I can do this, I can do this, Hinata mentally chanted.
Naruto frowned as Hinata’s whole face and neck was bright red, “Naruto-kun … would y - you –” Hinata didn’t had the chance to continue as Naruto suddenly put a hand on over her forehead, checking worriedly if she have a fever, “You know you can always tell me that anytime. Maybe for now maybe you should rest a bit.” Naruto suggested.
“I can - not do this.” Hinata admit and fainted.
“And, she fainted.” Kiba grumbled disappointingly as he jumped down and carried Hinata, and casually walked away from them, not even bothering to acknowledge Naruto’s and Sai’s presence.
“I really thought she could do it today.” Shino whispered to himself, as he too, didn’t bothering explaining anything to Naruto as he silently followed his teammates while adjusting his glasses.
This greatly confused Naruto as he faced Sai hoping if he had an idea what’s happening, he grew irritated when Sai smiled at him as if he knew something he didn’t. Which, technically, is true. But Naruto would ever acknowledge that.
“Do what Shino?,” Naruto voiced his question hopefully, crossing his fingers as he begged the heavens for some answers from the Aburame heir.
“It’s not my position to tell, it’d be better if Hinata will be the one to tell you Naruto.” Shino simply said over his shoulder as the team 8 vanished from their view.
“Hmp.” Naruto’s bratty attitude made Sai chuckled as he looked through his bag as he was intending to draw this sulking Naruto infront him, only to realize that he had forgotten few of his tools, “Naruto, I forgot to put my new brushes in my bag. Please hold this for me, I’ll be quick." Sai excuse himself as the next moment he was already gone not giving Naruto any chance to stop or question him.
As Naruto was admiring the dark sky above him, he noticed a familiar crow staring at him. After a year when Sasuke left, this creepy crow had been following Naruto, at first he thought it was just a stupid crow who wants his food. But, when Naruto gave the crow some of his sandwich. It would just stare at him and ignore the food he was offering.
“Naruto! Stay away from that thing!.” Someone behind Naruto shouted, The said blond look around and saw his friend Shikamaru running towards him at full speed.
“Hey Shikamaru ... stay away from what?,” Naruto confusedly asked as he pet the crow, Shikamaru then harshly slapped Naruto’s hand away. “Don’t touch it! It’s summoned!.” The Nara exclaimed.
There was suddenly a kunai on Shikamaru’s hands as he slashed the black bird, Naruto panicked as Shikamaru didn’t stopped there as he continues to thrust the kunai through the crow. A few seconds later nothing happened, Naruto thought that maybe, Shikamaru somehow missed.
Naruto then pushed Shikamaru away as he shield the poor innocent bird, as he exclaimed “What the hell are you doing – ” A large amount of smoke suddenly appeared as it blew out directly at Naruto’s face.
“What the? …” Naruto whispered in disbelief, Shikamaru looked at him, his whole demeanor turned to its usual look, as he said to him, “You were saying?,”
“It’ve been stalking me for a while now.” Naruto admitted, as Shikamaru was silent for a while, his eyes were focused as he was clearly thinking about the crow.
“I think I know whose summon is that.” Shikamaru finally said after a while of silence from him really creeped Naruto out as it could mean something unpleasant.
“Who?”
“I’m not so sure. Just make sure to stay away if you ever see another suspicious bird or any animals in general, okay?.” Shikamaru strictly advise as he sighed deeply, while put his arms over of his head, I should report this to Tsunade-sama.
“Oh come on, not you too! Tell me!.” Naruto exclaimed as he was tired of being left out in the dark. He continues to shout at Shikamaru, he knew Shikamaru would eventually give in as this tactic of his had been working on the lazy Nara since they were little, there’s no reason for it to not worked now.
“Okay!,” Shikamaru surrendered, Just stop shouting at my face, he grumbled as he explained, “I think the person who summoned the crow could spy someone with his summons.” Shikamaru tried subtly hinting Naruto who could be the summoner of the crow but he realized that he had overestimated Naruto as Naruto was famous for his obliviousness.
“Why would someone want to spy me?,” Naruto muttered, Shikamaru ignored the questions as it was probably a rhetorical question anyway.
“Just be careful and less reckless,” He knew that no matter what he said or do Naruto would always be reckless, he would be worried if Naruto act rational so he only asked him to lessen his recklessness.
As Naruto was about to ask him more, a overly sweet voice interrupted them, a little too sweet for the both’s liking, “Hey, boys.”
“Uh – Hi, Ino.” Naruto warily greeted back, she graced them with her charming smile, a little too charming that almost made the boys’ run for their lives.
Ino proceeds to turn to her teammate Shikamaru as her gentle facade completely vanished – replaced with a menacing scowl.
“Shikamaru!,” Ino exclaimed as she grabbed Shikamaru’s ear and twisted it. “I was looking for you for an hour now! Where were you?! Don’t tell me you forgot that we’re supposed to eat lunch together!” She ranted aa she continues to pull and twisted Shikamaru’s red ear, the violent action made Shikamaru winced while he tried to loosen her grip on his ear.
“Troublesome, woman.” Shikamaru grumbled, as he finally freed his ear.
“Let’s go, you lazy bastard, we’re already late thanks to you!.” Ino exclaimed and dragged him by the back of his jacket, as they were about to leave, Ino then suddenly faced Naruto – who suddenly straightened himself as he feared that he might also receive a bit of her scolding.
“Would you like to come with us? It’s our Sensei’s treat.” Ino asked, “No thank you, Imagine how much Asuma-Sensei would spend today with Chouji around, if you’d also add me, Asuma-Sensei might be broke for a half year or so.” Naruto joked.
“And besides, My team’s leaving for a mission. You guys could treat me when I come back.” Naruto added. Ino nodded understandably and promised she, herself would buy him ramen if he’d come home safely. Now, that’s a reward Naruto won’t missed.
The blond Uzumaki then sat on the chair beside the tree and think about the crow, who would even want to spy him? Maybe the person who summoned the crow wants to Kyuūbi. Yeah, maybe that’s a possible reason.
Naruto snapped out from his thoughts when he felt a hand on his shoulder, it was Sai panting. “I didn't realize I was just holding my brushes ...” Sai exhaled. “ Is what I wanted to tell you earlier but I waited till the show ended, it was quite an entertaining sight.”
Sai reoccupied his seat beside Naruto and checked his watch, “It’s already eight:twelve.” Sai stated.
“That’s new, Sakura-chan was never late when there’s a meeting.” Naruto commented.
“I’m here!.”
“Hey, ugly.” Naruto instantly covered Sai’s mouth hushing harshly him. Hoping that Sakura’s didn’t hear Sai’s greeting, but unfortunately, Sakura heard him loud and clear.
“What did you say? Why you!.” Sai flew towards as he had leave a whole because of how strong Sakura had punched him, Naruto immediately went to the rescue as he helped Sai to stand up.
“Sakura! Why’d you do that?.” Naruto asked as Sakura scoffed and say, “He deserves it! He called me ugly!.” She shouted and ran to Sai still having the urge to hurt Sai.
“Maa ... maa. Sakura. You can punch Sai later! We’re already late!.” Kakashi announced while reading his precious orange smutty book.
“And whose fault is that?.” Naruto retorted and was met by silence when Kakashi chose to ignore the Naruto’s reply as he closed his book and put it inside his bag. “We’re expected to arrive at Sunagakure in two or three days. It would be a short trip but do not let down your guard, you heard Lady Tsunade’s warning, our mission is to prevent that envelope fall into a rogue’s hands,” Kakashi said, trying to act stern, “But don’t be too tense! We could also train during our trip.” He added with a smile.

“Impressive! You’re getting stronger day by day.” The Sannin, Orochimaru exclaimed, praising the exhausted Uchiha.
The said Uchiha didn’t even looked pleased when his praises, as he felt like his training is still not enough.
“Hn.” Sasuke grunted as he sluggishly tried to stand up, using his sword for support.
“You know, till this day I still don’t know what that means.” Kabuto interrupted as he adjusted his glasses while leaning on the door
“You did well today, Sasuke. You can go and rest.” Orochimaru ordered while signaling for Kabuto, as Kabuto nodded back knowingly.
“Let’s go, I’m going to walk you to your room.” Kabuto said as he took the liberty and walked ahead, Sasuke didn’t had enough care to ask any question, as he just silently followed him.
Sasuke discreetly summoned a crow to check on someone. Orochimaru was the one to teach him how to summon crows, at first Sasuke strongly refused as crows remind him of a certain someone. But he eventually gave in when he thought of ways he could use of his summons, and it involves of a certain blonde.
After Sasuke summoned a familiar crow, he signalled the crow to go, so Kabuto won’t notice him. Unfortunately, Kabuto is not oblivious like how Sasuke hope he would be.
“You don’t need to waste your chakra by summoning some crows, every ... week ... I know where the Jinchūriki of the Nine Tails is.” Kabuto said while walking, he didn’t need to turn around to know if Sasuke were startled.
“While I were having my ... free time, I decided to follow your summoned crow. You know, I was just curious why you always make a summon when you were loathing them at first ... You know it’s creepy when you’re watching someone sleeping, right?.” Kabuto continue, Sasuke knew Kabuto was messing with him.
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. Besides, it’s not my business.” Kabuto added, that made Sasuke silently sigh in relief.
“Did you know that he will go to Sunagakure today?.” Sasuke grunted, not trusting his own voice.
“I’m sure Orochimaru would be glad if you bring him the envelope they’re sending to Suna’s new Kazekage, it’a report on how to strengthen a Jinchūrikis’ seals. And I’m sure it also contains on how to weaken it … And I’m not sure. Hey, Uchiha, I think that the Jinchūriki of the One-Tailed may have a tiny crush on your blondie, I won’t be too surprised, they could understand each more than anyone else.” Kabuto chuckled, when he felt some killing intent coming from the Uchiha behind him.
“You need to do a move Sasuke ... or Gaara will.” Sasuke couldn’t take it anymore and was about to shout at Kabuto when the four-eyed bastard throw something at him.
“I know you’ll want to go to Naruto, use that. You can go to him, faster and easier.” With that Kabuto disappeared as they heard Orochimaru calling out for Kabuto.
Sasuke slowly opened it as his eyes gleamed with interest as it revealed a transportation scroll.
“Well, here goes nothing.”
