Anakin's POV

We spent the day walking along the rubble of all the buildings that had been destroyed and looked for the dead or some survivors. It was disturbing finding a dead body or finding someone that was barely clinging to life under the mountain of rubble, or you'd come across a distraught mother holding her dead child, sometimes it was the other way around.

I spotted a hand poking out from under some rubble and I used the force to lift the concrete off them only so see that the person was dead and bleeding from their chest and head. Another Jedi Knight came over with a stretcher and we said nothing to each other as we lifted the body onto the stretcher and began to carefully walk back to the Jedi Temple where hundreds of dead and injured laid.

I had been in contact with Padme and told her I was okay through the force. She was on Naboo with the Padawans and Younglings and the other children who were put on board to escape. It turns out there had been multiple cruisers sent to all the planets we were aligned with but the forces from Kamino were sent to deal with them. Naboo was safe but we didn't know the status of the other planets.

We walked into the ruined Jedi Temple and placed the stretcher down at the end of one of the rows. A healer came over and gave a sincere look before starting to find out who this person was so they could record it down.

I locked eyes with the Jedi Knight who had helped carry the stretcher back and we both nodded at each other and he walked out to go look for more dead or survivors.

I walked past the injured who were all being treated by healers, I saw mothers and fathers who were alone and grieving the loss of loved ones and I saw children by themselves, crying as they clung onto sheets or a toy.

There was a sudden shift in the force and through Padme's force connection I felt her panic.

"Is everything okay Padme? What's going on? Are you okay?" I asked through the force bond.

"Anakin, my water just broke. The babies coming," she replied, "Can you make it here?"

"I'll need to sort a few things out with the council first, I'll be there as soon as I can. I'm sorry I can't come sooner," I apologised.

"No, it's fine. I know the battle was a lot, take your time. We'll be here when you come in, I love you, Ani," she said.

"Do you have someone with you?"

"Yes, I'm on my way to the med bay right now. I have to go," she responded.

"I love you, I'll see you soon."

I snapped out of the force connection and I couldn't help the fear and anxiety that had risen in my chest. I looked around and then began to make my way to the front door.

"Are you alright Master?" Ahsoka asked as she suddenly appeared next to me.

We walked outside where all the wreckage was. Coruscant was silent except for people shifting over all the rubble. The sky was a bright blue and the sun was shining down on us and there was a soft breeze blowing around, it kind of felt like Naboo. Naboo. Padme was having our children on Naboo right now.

"I need to talk to you about something," I said finally once we were away from everyone.

"Okay, what's wrong?" she asked as we walked over the rubble.

"It's about Senator Amidala."

"Is she alright? Please don't tell me she was injured-"

"No it's not that. She's in labour right now on Naboo," I began, I had no idea how to tell her.

"Oh my gosh! She's having her child, that's amazing! But, why are you so troubled by that?" she asked.

"I'm the father," I blurted out.

Ahsoka froze, she started at me wide-eyed as I waited for her reaction.

"I knew it! Well, I mean I didn't know you were the father but I had a feeling you guys were more than just friends or had feelings for each other or something like that. She's having your child! What the heck!" she rambled.

"Okay, calm down. The whole world doesn't need to know just yet," I said.

I couldn't help the smile that found it's way onto my face at Ahsoka's excitement for me. But I knew after this next bit she wasn't going to be as excited.

"Wait so are you guys together? How long have you been together? Do you know the babies gender?" she fired off.

"We've been married for four years, we're having twins, a boy and girl," I explained.

She seemed to practically break down in excitement when I told her and started rambling in what sounded like another language. Was she even still speaking English?

"You can't just drop that on me! I thought you guys were just dating but you're MARRIED! And you're having TWO kids! Give me some warning! I can't take this!" she exclaimed as she paced and jumped around.

"Just calm down Ahsoka. I have to tell you something else and I don't think you're gonna like it."

Just paused and calmed down quite quickly.

"Because I've formed attachments, I won't be able to hide the kids from the Council or that fact that we're married. I'll have to leave the order," I said quietly.

Ahsoka's face dropped and she looked down at the ground before nodding.

"Do you think there's any chance you'll get to stay? After all, you did just kill all the Sith and brought balance to the force. Maybe they'll say it's okay," she tried to reason.

"I don't think so, attachment is one of the strictest rules. Will you be okay finishing your training with Obi-wan?" I asked.

She looked up at me and I could see she was excitement for me but also upset. She gave me a small smile and nodded.

"I'll be fine with him. He's not as good as you but, it's better than someone else. I understand Master," she said quietly.

I nodded and she tackled me in a tight hug. I froze for a second before hugging her back, I'd see her again. I was sure of that. I wish I could be there to see her get knighted but maybe I'd see her afterwards.

"I'll come visit you whenever I can, I'll knock Obi-wan out if I have to," she sniffled as we pulled away.

"I'll always be here if you need me Snips," I replied sighing.

"Who else knows about this?" she asked.

"No one, there's a small meeting soon, I suppose I'll have to tell them then," I sighed.

Ahsoka nodded and we spent the last hour just talking as the sun began to set and bathe Coruscant in a warm yellow glow.

"I better get going," I said standing up from the wreckage we were sitting on.

Ahsoka stood up as well and tackled me in one last hug.

"Tell Padme I said hi. I will be seeing you kids soon, I won't miss out on that for the world," she said.

"I'll see you soon then, take care of yourself okay? And annoy Obi-wan a little bit more for me okay? It's funny when he gets pissed off."

She giggled and nodded and I turned and walked back to the Jedi Temple and up to the second floor that was barely intact. The golden glow shone through the blasted bits of walls and windows.

The whole Jedi Council we standing there, some of them were just quietly talking to each other. We waited until the last member arrived, Yoda said a few things before Windu got to talking about the things we had to do to get the city back to normal.

"Skywalker, can you work on clearing out all the droid parts for now?" Windu asked.

I wanted to say yes, I wished I could have, but Padme was in labour, I had to get there soon.

"I can't," I said.

Everyone turned to stare at me and I really wished I hadn't spoken. Windu raised an eyebrow and from the corner of my eye I could sense Obi-wan's growing confusion.

"I've been breaking the Jedi Code for a few years now. I've formed an attachment, it won't take a genius to figure out who it's with. I can't stay," I said as I took my lightsabers off my belt and let them roll out of my hand and onto the ground.

"I'm sorry."

That was the last thing I said before I walked out of the Jedi Temple, I didn't look back at the temple as I jumped up onto one of the boarding platforms. If I had timed it right then the ship to Naboo should be rising up here as the doors were closing and then I could jump in.

The golden glow was warm my face and it strangely reminded me of when Ahsoka left the order, and now here I was, leaving. Everything I had done in my life, was with the Jedi and with the order, they had basically freed me from slavery and now I was walking away from almost everything I had known.

"Anakin! Wait!"

I sighed but stopped and turned around. I knew Obi-wan was going to come after me, I probably should've given him some sort of warning before.

"Wha- Why? Why are you leaving?" he stammered.

"You already know. I know that you know. You've known about it for a while I'm guessing," I replied.

"You and Senator Amidala, I've known that you two have feelings for each other but to throw away everything, your life's work for her is a massive decision, are you sure that you two want to be together?" Obi-wan asked desperately.

"We've been married for four years and she's having my children. I don't have any other option, I'm going to be there for them and I'm tired of hiding it from everyone!" I exclaimed.

"You're married and she's having your child? I-I had no idea, I thought maybe you two just had feelings for each other I didn't realise-" he said softly.

"I'm sorry Obi-wan, I know I've disappointed you. Trust me, I'd love to stay but I just can't. Can you just please train Ahsoka for me? I wouldn't want anyone else to do it but I understand if you don't. I'm sorry."

Obi-wan looked up at me and grabbed my two lightsabers of his belt and held them out to me.

"I can't stop you from leaving. I wish you wouldn't but I know there's no other choice. Take these, that way I'll know you're safe."

I grabbed the two lightsabers and met Obi-wan's eyes. I gave him a sad smile and turned around when I saw the ship rising over the platform we were standing on.

"Thank you for everything, Obi-wan," I said.

"May the force be with you Anakin, I'll see you again," Obi-wan replied giving me a small, sad smile.

"You too," I replied.

I turned around and jumped onto the ship and just before the doors closed I could see Obi-wan looking up at the ship and Ahsoka walking towards him as the ship moved towards the sunset and the light.

"Goodbye," I whispered.
