~No one's POV~

Akaashi woke up with a tired yawn thanks to his alarm going off. He grabbed his phone to turn it off but when he did, he saw he had a missed call. No- THREE missed calls, one from his mom which he presumed was accidental and the others from Kuroo? That's odd, Kuroo hardly ever contacts Akaashi unless it's about Bokuto. He quickly called Kuroo back as he held the phone up with his shoulder as he grabbed his school uniform. It took a while but Kuroo finally picked up once Akaashi was done grabbing all his clothes

"Hello? Kuroo-san what happened?"

"Akaashi! You'll never guess what Kenma did!"

Akaashi sighed as he mentally face palmed "You called me FOUR times at midnight to tell me something shout Kozume-san? Kozume-san isn't like Bokuto-san, him burning his toast isn't too serious Kuroo-san" he was about to hang up until Kuroo spoke up

"Burnt toast? What? No! Kenma sent a heart during our messages last night!"

"That's an issue because of what-? Bokuto-san sends hearts all the time, isn't it just a friendly gesture?" Akaashi asked as he made his way to the bathroom

"Well I mean yeah, Boku-bro does it because it's Boku-bro but we're talking about Kenma 'kaashi!"

"I thought I said to stop calling me that-" he sighed "I guess you're right, it is a little odd that he sent a heart. Why are you telling me this?"

"Because uh- Shit, I don't know. I thought you should know though!"

Akaashi sighed as he put his phone on speaker. He was getting undressed as he was about to speak up to tell Kuroo he had to hang up but he was rudely interrupted

"Hey 'kaashi by any chance were you the last one to text Kenma around midnight?"

"Uh yeah, why-?"

"No reason! Have a nice shower!" And with that Kuroo hung up

The second year got turned on the shower and stepped in once the temperature was right

"How'd he know I was going to take a shower-?" Was all he asked himself

-time skip to after he got ready-

Akaashi had already gotten his stiff for the sleepover ready. He had a backpack filled with stuff he searched up online that were needed for a sleepover. He grabbed his school back as he ran down the flight of stairs seeing how Bokuto messaged him that he was outside waiting for him. He quickly waved his mom goodbye before stepping out.

"AGAHSHEE!" Bokuto yelled loud and proud

"Good morning Bokuto-san"

"The coach said we weren't going to have practice after school since they're gonna wax the school floor" Bokuto said with a wide grin "I'm gonna surprise Kuroo during his practice!"

"Is that so? Well is morning practice mandatory today or were they going to wax the floors today right now?"

"Coach said they'd start in the morning so I guess no practice at all" Bokuto shrugged as they both boarded the train

Akaashi gave a small nod as he found them both a seat. The ride to school consisted of Bokuto's silly comments and the other third years slowly pouring in.

Their ride came to a stop once they arrived at the station closest to the school. The group of third years (and one second year) was laughing the whole way. Once they arrived at the school they all parted ways, at least everyone Bokuto and Akaashi. Bokuto was 'walking' Akaashi to class but Akaashi didn't mind. The ravenette soon arrvied to his class and cleared his throat

"Thank you for walking me to class Bokuto-san but you're running a bit late to your class-" he gave a small respectful bow

As Akaashi bowed, the bell had rung which caused Bokuto to panic and run to his class while waving good bye. Akaashi walked to his seat as he sighed and attempted to try to think about how the sleepover would be like.

-Time Skip brought to you by Kenma's PSP-

School was finally over for the day and Akaashi was worrying about a sleepover. As he walked home alone, he was fiddling with his fingers. His mom was at the entrance holding out Akaashi's sleepover bad and a bag that had Onigiri. It seemed Akaashi was a bit too anxious though because his mom literally had to snap him out of it

"Keiji honey, are you okay dear, do you need a moment inside before you go meet up with the Kozume boy?"

The ravenette looked at his mom, surprised to see her at the doorway. Still he gave a small nod and followed his mom inside, closing the door behind him and removing his shoes as he did so.

"So what's wrong dear? Are you feeling a little nervous about your first sleepover?" She asked a sweet tone

Akaashi hesitated at first but he eventually gave a small nod in reply.

Akaashi's mother sighed before giving a soft laugh "If Kozume-san invited you over, there's probably a reason. He hasn't invited Bokuto over before has he?"

Akaashi softly shook his head as he continued to mess with his fingers

"Then clearly he thinks you'd be a good person to hang out with. I'm sure it'll be a bit awkward at first but I'm sure you boys will be vetting along well!"

The second year took a deep breath before letting out a small "Thanks mom, I'm gonna get going now"

The two stood up so they hug each other goodbye. Akaashi quickly put his shoes on and grabbed what he needed before stepping outside and heading back to the train station.

The train ride wasn't long, Akaashi stepped inside the bakery and asked the worker for permission to wait for a friend. Of course the worker allowed it so Akaashi took a seat and decided to text Kenma

Akaashi: (Sent at 4:13 PM)

[Hey Kozume-san, I'm at the bakery. The worker said I can stay here till as long as I need so don't worry about coming late]

Kozume: (Sent at 4:18 PM)

[lmao i'm almost there]

Akaashi: (Sent at 4:20 PM)

[I thought you have practice today?]
[How are you almost here]

Kozume: (Sent at 4:22 PM)

[i thought you did too]
[but then bokuto came over and said you guys didn't]
[and since bokuto came over, kuroo wanted extra practice]
[so i ditched 😸]

Akaashi: (Sent at 4:25 PM)

[A cat emoji? Kozume-san, you know you shouldn't ditch practice, then Kuroo-san punishes you by running laps]

Kozume: (Sent at 4:27 PM)

[whatever]
[3min away ttyl]

Akaashi: (Sent at 4:28 PM)

[You should care]

Akaashi put his phone away as he saw Kenma nearing the corner of the bakery. He waved goodbye and thanked the worker before heading over to Kenma

"Kozume-san, disappointed you left practice early but not very surprised"

Kenma gave a small side smile as he began to lead the way, which Akaashi followed rather quickly

"The Onigiri your mom made smells good"

"It tasts just as good as it smells, I can promise you that" he gave a nervous laugh

Kenma quickly caught on to the nervousness in the other male's laughter. He looked up at the other setter with his cat like eyes before rhey boarded the train

"Why are you nervous?" Kenma said in a blunt tone, breaking the silence

"Nervous? I'm not nervous, what gave you that idea?" The ravenette said as he fiddled with his fingers

Kenma looked at Akaashi with a piercing gaze "You're doing the anxious hand thing"

Akaashi glanced down at his hands as sighed "I forget how good you're eyes are-" he paused for a moment "I guess I am a bit nervously but it's nothing, don't mind me"

Kenma tilted his head a bit but just lightly shrugged as he pulled out his PSP. He knew the train ride wasn't going to be long but he just wanted to get in some game time

"So why'd you ditch?"

"I didn't want to be near Kuroo and Bokuto when they were together. I'm surprised coach even allowed Bokuto to stay and practice"

Akaashi gave a small understanding nod before speaking up again "Though don't they need a setter?"

"There's Tamahiko, they don't need me"

With another understanding nod, the two stayed quiet the whole ride. Kenma was leaning against Akaashi and Akaashi was glancing at the shorter male every so often. Of course the setters were getting odd looks but they didn't pay much attention to the others on the train.

Eventually they arrived at their stop but Akaashi didn't seem to know. It was until Kenma stood up, still not looking away from his game nor speaking. Akaashi gave a small 'huh?' before quickly following Kenma. Even though the Nekoma setter seemed too focused on the game, he seemed to have known his surroundings better than anyone else. The walk was quiet and peaceful but a little nerve wrecking for Akaashi

They arrived at Kenma's house after maybe a good 20-30min walk. Kenma rested his head on his front door for a moment as Akaashi looked at the boy confused

"In my bag, on the side with the volleyball keychain" Kenma said in a quiet voice

Akaashi gave a perplexed look before see searching through Kenma's bag. To his surprise, keys were the only thing in there. As Kenma stood there quietly, Akaashi opened up the house door which Kenma pushed open with his foot

"Kenma, honey, welcome home!" A feminine voice could be heard once the door was opened

A lady with straight black hair, her hair being a little longer than Kenma's, was sitting on the sofa. A tired look was displayed on her face but she still look beautiful. Her eyes looked exactly like Kenma's as well, except they had a more welcoming look to them

"Oh, hey mom. I didn't expect you to be waiting"

Akaashi watched as how Kenma hardly even looked up from his game to glance at his mom. Kenma's mom still grabbed him to sit him down by her though yet he seemed unphased. As Kenma played by his mother's side, Akaashi had just finished removing his shoes to set them off to the side

"Uhm- Hello miss Kozume" he gave a small respectful bow before being interrupted by small laughter

"You don't have to be so formal with me, you can call me mom as well" she smiled before gently nudging Kenma "Introduce me to you friend Kenma, I font recall Tetsuroo looking like this"

Kenma sighed as he put his game away and stood up "This is Keiji Akaashi, he's a second year at Fukurōdani. He's the one I said was going to stay over-"

"It's nice to meet you miss, my mother told me to bring over some of her delicious Onigiri as a thank you for letting me stay over"

Once again small laughter was heard "How thoughtful of her, once you get the chance, tell her I said thank you"

"Mom did you make dinner yet?"

A sigh came from Kenma's mom as she placed a hand on her him "Kenma dear, I just finished cleaning up the house for your little friend. I didn't think you'd be here so early so dinner wasn't made"

Akaashi nervously cleared his throat as he held up his bag of Onigiri "I'm sure there's enough for us to eat here"

Kenma's mom clapped her hands together as she smiled "Kenma you go help your friend set up for the night and I'll got set up dinner" she said as she grabbed the bag from Akaashi

Kenma sighed as he lead the way to his room and Akaashi silently followed. Once they arrived Akaashi silently scanned the room. It looked like any normal room, it was slightly messier than his room but that was okay. He noticed how Kenma had a few items that were related to cats and videogame but he said nothing of it

"Just set your bag down on my bed for now, I'm hungry now so lets go try that Onigiri your mom made" he said with slightly smug smile

"Alright but before we go, where will I be sleeping for the night Kozume-san?"
