After dinner, everyone returned back to their rooms, but not before Josien gave me a look that said 'we'll talk later'. Logan gave me a small smile that everyone failed to notice. I just can't wait to crash on my bed, my sweet, soft, comf- "Aurora?" Of course, someone just has to interrupt my dreams about my soft, comfy bed. "Yeah?" I turn to see Korina on the verge of tears.
"Korina, what's wrong?" she wraps her arms around me, "it's Hoaric" I lead her into my room and sit her on my bed, "what happened to Hoaric?" I ask, "I had a feeling he was cheating on me and I confronted him but he got mad and started yelling at me, oh Aurora the argument was so terrible that we were late to the dinner.
I'm scared to sleep in the same room with him. Can I sleep here tonight? I promise to find somewhere else to sleep tomorrow. you are the only friend I have that's why I-" tears rolled down her rosy cheeks as she sniffled.
"you can sleep here for as long as you want, do you really think he's cheating on you?" I ask her softly and she nods.
I thought mates are not able to cheat, I thought to myself "you can wear one of the nightgowns I haven't worn yet "Thank you" she says softly before engulfing me in a comfortable, warm hug and goes to take her bath. We slept quietly that night since we both had our minds busy thinking about our problems.
I woke up to the sun hitting my face and to the empty side of the bed where Korina laid last night. I guess she's used to waking up early since it's like a holiday in Dapphion. I'm free from training.
I yawn and take my bath. Today I'm wearing a pink dress and sandals, my stomach rumbles loudly, I walk to the kitchen and see that it's empty. "hmmm," I toast the bread and eat it.
I look at the portraits hung on the wall when I feel something yank me into a room "ahhhh" the room is dark and the thing that yanked me into the room is still holding my wrist, the lights turn on and I come face to face with Logan, "you bastard why the hell did you drag me in here? I thought I was being kidnapped" I stopped hitting him when he continued laughing.
I fold my arms and wait for him to stop laughing, "Are you done?" I glare at him, "Sorry, the look on your face was priceless" I roll my eyes, "come on Rory, laugh" I give him a blank stare, his face turns serious when he realizes I'm not going to laugh, "What's wrong? you don't look happy" he places his palm on my cheek, I push his palm away with a glare.
"I'm leaving," I say and turn to open the door only to discover that it's locked, "What are you doing here?" he asks, "you tell me, I was just staring at the portraits on the wall when you yanked me into your room!" I yell at his face.
"No, I mean here in Dapphion. What are you doing in Dapphion?" I stare at him, "I'm your cousin's mate," his eyes turn hard. "Mate?" he laughs, I frown "That's what he told you? he must have seen something that made him lie to you." Logan laughs out loud.
For some reason, I'm hurt but I don't show it on my face "what if I'm actually his mate?" I raise my eyebrows and refrain from smirking at the look of frustration on his face. "you can't be his mate!" he suddenly yells, "too bad, because I am!" I yell back, "You can't, you can't, it's impossible, You can't be his mate" I roll my eyes, he clenches his jaw and balls his fists.
"Why?"
"you are mine!" I shake my head and laugh, "I’m not yours Logan and I never will be, maybe I was yours before but not now, now open the damn door!" I twist the doorknob once more.
"I still love you Rory" he places his head on my shoulder, I feel his teeth graze my neck, I freeze, "Logan, let me go" I push him, his stares with a broken look, and opens the door, I flee before he changes his mind to lock the door once again and bite me.
I walk away from his room and feel someone yank me, I turn to yell at Logan "W--Lilith why the hell are you holding me" I glare at her and cross my arms, maybe if I walk with my arms folded no one will be able to yank me.
"You are hiding something and I'm going to find out, and I'll get Asmodeus back," I sigh in frustration "Are you telling me this to warn me to keep my secrets properly?" I ask her.
"I'm letting you know that I'll have Asmodeus back in my grasps in no time," I step closer to and smirk as she steps back "Listen, don't touch me, don't talk to me and lastly do not threaten me I might not be friendly next time do not forget I'm a hunter and I have an uncle that tortures demons in Tartarus." I stare hard at her and she nods, I walk away.
I haven't seen Korina today, then I feel someone yank me back by my elbow, "oh, God!" I yell, Dorin stares at me in amusement while still holding my arm.
"what?" "good morning to you too Aurora" he smiles, "Mine hasn't been good, so why did you stop me" he drops some files onto my arms, "I'm happy I saw you, please give those files to Xanthus, he is in his room" he walks off before I could say anything.
"Should have just stayed in bed today" I grumble to myself, I knock on Xanthus' door and enter after I hear a 'come in'.
"Yo---" I yelp and turn when I see Xanthus is in a towel, "Why did you tell me to come in when you know you are naked?" I ask facing the door.
"mmh, I had no idea I'm naked," I hear the mockery in his voice, "That's the most ridiculous lie I've ever heard, I'll come back when you're dressed" I twist the doorknob and pull on the door handle"uh...Xanthus what happened to the door" I feel a presence behind me and a hand grasps my hands which is on the doorknob.
He twists the doorknob too with my hand still underneath him and I'm sure he is still in a towel, "It's locked" alarmed I turn to face him only to come face to face with a broad and very naked chest.
"w-what do you mean locked?!" He sighs, "Locked as in secured fastened, you can't leave because it won't open"
"I know what locked means of course, but the question is, how is it locked?" I ask looking everywhere but his smooth chest, "I told a witch to spell the castle, we do this every year to protect the realm from rogues or unwanted visitors"
"oh,"
"How long will the doors be locked?" I ask, "24 hours" he states, finally taking a step back, for the first time I allow myself to stare at his naked chest, he has a six-pack and a long scar on the left side of his chest.
He sniffs me and frowns, "Why do you smell like my...cousin Logan?" He asks, "I do not smell like him" I cross my arms offended, "Yes you do, were you with him?!" He pushes, "He...talked to me...to apologize... yes to apologize for yesterday for assuming I was allergic to garlic" either he knows I'm lying and chooses to ignore me or he doesn't know I'm lying either way he drops the matter. I'm ready to tell him his cousin is my ex-boyfriend
"If I'm going to be stuck in here with you please wear something" "Why? Am I distracting you?" He smirks smugly, "Just put on something" I sit on a couch, he goes into his closet and comes out with a white shirt and black pants.
"Better" I mutter. He sits on his bed and stares at me, "why did you come here" I look at the files on my hands and remember why I came here, "Dorin said I should give these files to you" I give the files to him and he picks up a laptop.
"I'm so bored," I say after an hour of silence, "Okay," Xanthus says "Are you kidding? I'm bored and all you can say is okay!" I say, he sighs and drops his laptop, "what do you want to do"
"Yesterday at the dinner, you said my parents wouldn't let me have a boyfriend, how did you know that" I cross my arms, "I told them not to" he answers nonchalantly, "I don't understand"
"When you were a baby, I ordered your parents not to let you have a boyfriend," he says picking up his laptop.
"Is that why you have pictures of me in that house I woke up at?" I ask calmly and he nods, "Are you kidding me?!" I yell, "You, You- I don't even know what to say to you!!"
"How about you tell me how awesome I am," he says, not moving his eyes from his laptop.
"Awesome?! You ruined my relationship life, and you have pictures of me since I was a baby. Do you know what you are? You. Are. A. Creep!" I yell.
"I am not," and so we start arguing, it's going to be a long day.
