After walking though the cave, they reached a place where lots of flowers were blooming. Ji Fan smiled while looking at them and said to Song Qi,
" Aren't they looking beautiful?"
Song Qi didn't reply. Ji Fan gave a sad smile as he knew that he was the one who had ruined the mood. While walking through them Song Qi saw a flower of golden color shining on the branch of a tree. Song Qi ran towards it and said,
" I think I found it!"
Ji Fan looked at the flower and shouted,
" No! Don't touch it. It's not the right one."
But it was too late. Song Qi had already plucked the flower from the branch of the tree. She looked at the flower and said,
" Is it not? But it's golden and it's shining."
Ji Fan came closer and replied,
" The golden flower grows in the center of the tree and it has only one of it. On the other hand, this tree has more of them."
Ji Fan pointed out the other branches of that tree which had a lot of flowers on them. Song Qi said,
" Okay okay, I got it. No need to be tense. I will find the right one next time."
Ji Fan replied,
" The books said not to touch things without permission and you did it. I am worried about what is going to happen?"
Song Qi gave a smirk,
" It's a tree, How am I suppose ask a tree?"
Suddenly, Ji Fan saw the branch of the tree coming towards Song Qi. Ji Fan ran towards Song Qi and pushed her to the ground. Song Qi looked at the branch and then Ji Fan,
"I...think...you were right."
Ji Fan have a sigh,
"You never listen."
Again another branch came towards Song Qi. She jumped over it and said,
"Okay okay, I am sorry mister tree. Please forgive me. You can have it back."
A voice came from the tree,
"Give it back? It's useless now. It took me years to grow it."
Ji Fan went a little closer to the tree and said,
"We are really sorry, sir. We would have compensated you for your loss but as you can see, we don't have anything to give you in return."
The tree laughed and replied,
"Who said you don't have? I will take this girl's soul in return."
Suddenly, a large root came out from the soil and trapped Song Qi. It happened so quick that she was unable to dodge it. Song Qi tried to get out of it but the root kept her so tightly that she was unable to do so. Ji Fan ran towards Song Qi and tried rescue her but another root came out and grabbed Ji Fan. The tree said,
"You can't help her. So, make your way."
Ji Fan looked at the tree and asked with worried expressions,
"Can't you take mine instead of her?"
The tree replied,
"No, I can only have the soul of that person who has plucked the flower."
Ji Fan got irritated,
"Why?"
The tree replied,
"That's because...wait, why am I explaining to you? It's time to take this human's soul."
One of the branch of the tree went close to Song Qi's neck. Ji Fan ran towards Song Qi and tried to cut the root with a dagger. The root become loose and Ji Fan took Song Qi out of it. The tree got surprised.
"How did you?"
Ji Fan smiled and said,
"It's not an ordinary dagger. It has the juice of red Callas."
Ji Fan looked at Song Qi and said,
"Stay behind me."
Song Qi wanted to be her stubborn self but when she saw Ji Fan eyes she nodded and stood behind Ji Fan. The tree got shocked upon hearing the name.
"How did you?...It's not found here. Are you a demon?"
Ji Fan nodded,
"Yes, I am a demon and I came from the Demon world. Now, if you don't want further damage then let us go."
The tree replied,
"Sure, you can go but this girl can't."
Ji Fan got confused,
"Why? Are you again going to attack her?"
The tree laughed,
"No, even if you take her with you, she will die."
Ji Fan turned around and looked at Song Qi with a worried face. Then looked towards the tree and asked,
"Why would that happen?"
The tree replied,
"Looks like this time I have to explain you. My flower has small thorns around it. When a person plucks it. The thorns inject poison into that persons body. After some time, she will feel weak then her color will start to change and at last..."
Ji Fan shouted,
"Give me the antidote!"
Song Qi was shocked on Ji Fan's expressions. She never saw him like this. Ji Fan went close to the tree and said,
"I said give me the antidote or else you will die."
The tree laughed and said,
"Now you look a bit like a demon. You cannot kill me with this little red Callas. It can only damage me a little. But it is confirm that this human will die."
The tree again brought one of its branch close to Song Qi. Ji Fan looked at Song Qi who was turning purple and her eyelids were slowly starting to close. Ji Fan tightly closed his fists and said to the tree,
"What if I bring you the Golden Flower instead?"
The tree stopped and said,
"What? The Golden flower? What will I do with that? Isn't it used for the treatment of diseases?"
Ji Fan replied,
"No! I guess you have underestimated its power. If you take it then you can become one of the most powerful creatures and you might even walk."
The tree got curious.
"And how you know that?"
Ji Fan showed him the mark on his arm and said,
"I am the royal physician. I know all about it."
The tree looked at the mark and replied,
"I have seen this mark before."
Ji Fan said,
"You are wasting the time of both of us. Now tell me, do you want it or not."
The tree kept silent. Ji Fan said,
"Looks like you don't want it and want to be like this forever."
The tree quickly replied,
"No! I want it. Bring me the Golden Flower."
Ji Fan replied,
"I will, I promise, but first give me the antidote."
The tree brought one of its branch close to Song Qi's neck and inject a liquid into Song Qi's body. Song Qi's body color started to get better. Ji Fan ran towards Song Qi and asked,
"Are you okay?"
Song Qi smiled,
"I am fine but..."
The tree interrupted her,
"She is fine but for now."
Ji Fan looked at the tree and asked,
"What do you mean for now?"
The tree laughed,
"Do you think I am stupid who will let you go off easily. I gave her half antidote. I will give you the other half after you bring me the Golden flower."
Ji Fan nodded and said,
"I knew that you are not so kind to do so. I will bring you the Golden flower but you have to promise me that you will give her the other half."
The tree replied,
"Sure, you have my word. Now go before it gets late."
Ji Fan held Song Qi's hand and went forward. Song Qi looked at Ji Fan's hand and said in her mind,
'I want to hold this hand longer. I want to live holding this hand forever.'
Tears fell from her eyes without her noticing. Ji Fan looked at her and stopped. He wiped tears from her cheeks and smiled,
"Don't worry nothing will happen to you. I will save you at all costs."
