I slip into my world of dreams,
an escape from the vexatious reality where
mankind claws at you and breaks you into smithereens.
I amble through the alleys
where everything appears magical
and all people seraphic.
I find refuge in them for
'hurt' and 'pain' evanesce
in the word book of dreams.
It holds me up
from the abyss of darkness
and takes me to a phenomenal land
where when I look in the mirror
the girl in it seems to shine
brighter than the stars I admire,
prettier than the moon when it perches up the night sky.
I see angels with their wings so bright
holding my hand and walking
through the heavenly premises
and all around, a radiance of bliss,
the path embellished with fairydust.
Little children with cherubic faces
seem to caper all the way
as though it is the Christmas eve.
A glimpse of the clear lake
is visible from a distance,
a sight to behold
and carve in your mind.
I keep walking
until the dawn arises
and all at once I rise from the beautiful fantasies
to face the reality
yet again.
I try to decipher how
all the angels and the shimmering lights are gone
and darkness encased me
once again.
Then, it dawns on me
It was mere fantasies.
Fantasies that brought in
prodigious euphoria.
