JOSHUAS POV
So yes I came a week early to NYC, and yes I came early because of Maya, but was that wrong? The main reason I came down was for Mayas birthday. Riley told me she was throwing a party if I wanted to come but I declined, I was going to surprise her but well look how that turned out. I liked Maya, genuinely liked her, so why couldn't I come a bit early?
We all walked to Macy's as Maya walked in between that guy Lucas and I.
I constantly felt his gaze on me, what was his problem?
I tried to shake it off as we entered the store, the girls immediately made a beeline for the dresses, well Riley mainly did. Riley insisted because the party she was planning for Maya was formal, I see it wasn't a surprise party.
Us three guys followed behind and plopped down on the bench right in front of the dressing rooms. I saw riley and Maya grab at least 35 dresses in total as they ran into the dressing rooms. This was going to be a long day.
MAYAS POV
Riley was forcing me to get a dress for my birthday party since she knew I didn't have one. Riley must've thrown 40 dresses onto my arm as she searched. Some strapless and some super short
"Riley!" I finally screeched at the newest dress she threw on
"What?" She asked with a cheeky grin
"I am not wearing a cocktail dress!" I said holding up the red strapless dress that barley covered my butt
"But it'll show off your stuff" she said with a sly smirk her eyes wandering to the guys
I rolled my eyes "Riley I'm in seventh grade and am as pale as the New York snow I have no stuff to show" I countered
She giggled and put back the dress "Alright, I just wanted everything to be perfect"
"Your definition of perfect is a lot different then mine" I said teasingly, but in all honesty it was true
She threw her head back laughing as she grabbed my wrist and dragged me into the changing rooms.
More then half of the stack was thrown on the floor in my dressing room when Riley shoved me in.
I had no idea which on the try on first. I decided on the ones I didn't like first. There was an ocean blue dress with white sparkles leading down the curve with a one sleeve poof.
The dress would have been alright if the poof was nonexistent.
"Ready?" Riley asked
I nodded as we both stepped out.
Riley was wearing a floral print dress with sleeves and a length that reached her knees, way more conservative
We criticized eachother a dresses before going out to the boys who immediately perked up
"Loose the poof" Joshua said immediately
I nodded in agreement "But stunning" Lucas said with a smile, I tried not to blush
"Beautiful, as always" Farkle said with a wink as he referenced to Riley who blushed, ooooOoooooOo interesting.
"So yes?" Riley asked cautiously
"Maybe, got any others?" Lucas asked
Riley grinned "You have no idea" she said giddily as she slipped back in
"So no?" I asked
I revived three no shakes of the head and went back in, this was weird, I don't like this, but each time I tried on a new dress and showed it to me, instead of going to take it off Riley pushed me back out.
****two hours of dress shopping****
"Riley this is hopeless!" I groaned slipping out of the last dress I tried on
"No it's not!" She shouted "The next ones it I'm sure of it"
I scoffed "Easy for you to say! You already found yours!" It was a red and black dress with a jewel neckline and reached down to her knees, reminded me of the Queen of hearts although way prettier "And you said that for the last seven" I said sleepily
Riley giggled as she leaned against the full length mirror outside of the room "But I know it's this one" she moaned, it was late, I think we all wanted It to be this one.
There was three dresses left. One was a leopard print strapless with small tears in strategic places but it looked to cave women to me. Next was pink and poo- no. And the last one was stunning. A sleek black strapless dress that reached mid thighs with bright white jewels decorating the sides and meeting back up at the neckline, simple but beautiful.
I slipped it on, the dress was stunning I never thought I would like wearing dresses or revealing my legs but this was beautiful.
The best part was I dint have to go shoe shopping since it was already pared with white glowing heels.
I stepped out and peered around looking for Riley. She must've went to go join the boys as she wasn't in the hallway
I tiptoed outside and peered my head around. Joshuas head was cranked back his eyes closed and mouth open, he was asleep. Farkle was at the cashier with Riley paying for her dress and apologizing for the inconvenience. Lucas, he was sitting on the bench twiddling his thumbs as he waited.
Maybe I shouldn't show him, maybe I should just go back and change, but it was too late as he looked up locked gazes with me. He smiled and I couldn't help but smile back.
No, no! Not now Maya, you don't like Lucas!
I tried to stay straight faced as we looked at each other "Don't keep me waiting" he said with a smirk
"Hold your horses there cowboy" I said straightening out the dress before taking that step around the corner biting my lips hesitantly as all my fear wiped away as Lucas's jaw dropped down to the floor
I couldn't help but blush as I watched him "Is it okay?" I tucking a loose strand of blonde behind my ear
He slowly rose unable to peel his eyes off of me "Maya you look stunning" he said meeting my eyes "Breathtaking" he said
Every time he spoke I only blushed harder. I tried to conceal but it prevailed as my cheeks shone a bright red, he called me breathtaking....
Once Lucas finished talking Riley walked over bag in hand as she squealed and threw the bag at Farkle as she ran over to me "Oh my god Maya! You look gorgeous!!! I told you this one was the one!" Riley squealed waking up Joshua
He groaned and rubbed his eyes his first focus was me. He blinked a few times "WO" he said with a small smirk as he rose "Maya" he said standing in the back "Beautiful, you look beautiful"
"Farkle like" he stretched out while nodding with head with a smirk causing me to roll my eyes
Another blush snuck out, my cheeks felt on fire from all the compliments "So I'm guessing buy this and get out"
"Yes!" They all shouted in unison as I walked back to the dressing room to get changed
LUCAS POV
Maya looked stunning, absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't Believe she was in front of me she looked like a model. Way older then her grade.
God she was amazing. The dress matched her personality perfectly and it wasn't too revealing, just perfect for her age.
God Lucas! What are you thinking, Mayas your friend, you don't like Maya, you like Riley, in that black and red dress with jewels- no. Riley was pretty but Maya, Maya was gorgeous.
It was like in that moment I knew who I liked, I knew who I was going to fight for in the end.
Maya waltzed out heels and dress in hand peeking over at me just in time for me to give her my classic smirk.
She turned away too fast but I thought I saw a blush...
RILEYS POV
After Maya bought her dress and heels we all headed out. The boys held our bags, so sweet, but also a bit weird.
Both Lucas and Joshua wanted to hold Mayas stuff. Sure Joshua had a small crush on Maya, he even told me when we went up with uncle Shawn, but fighting to hold her bags? And Lucas, Lucas didn't like Maya, well actually he never answered my question, he might like her.....
Boy am I gonna have to solve this one
FARKLES POV
Maya seemed alright with me now, maybe she just snapped and got over it. Or maybe the boys were too big or a distraction.
I was the only one who offered to hold Rileys bags, weird, I at least thought her uncle or Lucas would offer, but they fought over Maya..maybe Lucas really did like Maya and I was right all along, but what about this Joshua kid. He was another piece to the unsolved puzzle..
Maybe I should get some help, consult Riley, but is have to wait till we were alone...
LUCAS POV
All three of us headed down to the subway and quickly walked to enough seats for all of us.
Maya sat in between Riley and I, Farkle sat on Rileys left and Joshua sat on my right.
It was already dark in New York, we were at the store for at least three hours. We were all pretty tired. Mayas head was resting on Rileys shoulder who was struggling to stay awake. Finally sleep prevailed and Riley zoned out her eyes shut as she moved to rest her head on Farkles shoulder causing Maya to move.
I never noticed but Riley and Farkle look cute together...
Maya cut off my thoughts as her head bobbed from Rileys shoulder to mine.
I gasped lightly but apparently audible as she looked up at me with her pricing blue eyes "Do you mind cowboy? Didn't sleep well last night" she said with a small grin which I had to return
"Not at all ma'm, sleep on" I said sweetly as her head fell back on my shoulder, this felt nice, sweet and tender, and most of all, it felt right
JOSHUAS POV
Cowboy? Ma'm? We're they flirting? Did they like each other? No, If they liked each other they would be dating right? Right?!
Mayas eyes quickly shut as did Lucas's with that smirk on his face
I couldn't say I was jealous, but in all honesty I was, she should be resting on my shoulder not his.
Maya liked me, not him, at least that's what I got from the Christmas party.
Was she just being nice? No she liked me, and I liked her, and I would make sure we would end up together.
Sorry guys this took a little longer um I hope it's alright! I had to shorten it down because next chapters gonna be the party.
