I just sat alone in my car and watched as peoples names flashed on my phone. Now Bre was calling me along with my mom and dave but still I couldn't manage to bring myself to answer.
I whipped my eyes and drove two tours over and went to a Wendy's to grab food.
"Hey you're that girl from the news." A girl about my age said coming over to my table.
"Yeah."
"Mind if i sit?" she asked already sitting down.
"Go for it." We talked for a little bit then she had to go.
"Oh and I believe you not that jerk." she smiled right before getting into her car.
"Thanks." I said even though she couldnt hear me.
I drove around more. I refused to go home so I just slept in the backseat of my car not waking up til late morning. I searched my car for my phone which was frozen but still going off. I drove and got some breakfast then made my way back to my house but stopped at the beginning of my street. I pulled over and im not sure why but i just felt like i needed to check twitter so thats what i did, but that was a bad idea.
Yesterday when I was up reading my poem and had that freak out people recorded it and it was going all over the web.
"You're fucking kidding me." I said out loud to myself when my phone froze for a second then calums number appeared. I answered the phone but didnt say anything.
"Hello?Skylar?" Calum asked. "I can hear you breathing." still i didnt say a word.
"Okay you dont have to talk but i saw that poem you wrote and what happened," he paused taking a deep breathe, " Im so so sorry. I feel so bad for being the cause of whats happening to you and that im not there to help you and make it stop. I feel like a bag of shit because of all of this." another pause for another deep breathe."I um just talked to your sister, Bre. I followed her and dmed her asking about you because of the video and she ripped me a new one and some but then told me she didnt know because she hadnt seen or heard from you. No one has. Skylar where are you?" He paused waiting for an answer he'll never get.
"well atleast talk to your parents or something. Go home. Please. They and I are so worried about you." Another pause.
"Skylar." He sounded like he was about to cry but I dont care because i was already crying.
"I fucking hate you, you narcissistic douchebag. Do you realize the shit Ive been through the past couple weeks because you lied? Im getting bullied. People at school call me a liar and verbally abuse me. People online tell me im an attention whore who needs to take a large amount of steps away from their idol and to go kill myself. Do you know how much it fucking sucks to be hurt in the way you hurt me? I was falling for you so hard and then you just go and do this to me."
"I know Im an awful person."
"You're more than an awful person."
"Please stop crying." he whispered.
"I cant I've been crying since you climbed out my window."
"skylar I really am so sorry."
"Youre stupid apologies mean nothing to me. They dont make my heart feel anyless broken."
"Let me try and fix this. I really like you."
"and id really like you to fuck off."
"but." was all he managed to get out before i hung up on him and went home.
When I pulled in there were two cop cars parked outside my house. I took a deep breathe and got ready to be yelled at for leaving and not answering anyone. I snuck in and everyone was talking in the living room. Instead of walking in i stood in the kitchen and listened to what they were saying.
"Mom!Mom!" Bre yelled as i heard her running down the stair.
"What?" She asked nervously.
"Calum just got off the phone with her. She didnt tell him where she was but atleast we know shes okay because she answered."
"Whatd she say to him.?" My mom asked.
"He said she was crying and saying mean things."
"He deserves it. If i ever meet that, Cole cover your ears honey, son of a bitch Im gonna have some choice words with him."
I walked into the living room where the two cops along with my family just looked at me in shock.
"Where have you been? What where you thinking? What if domething happened to you?" she fired out these questions at me giving me no time to answer because she pulled me into a hug and said, 'forget those questions. They dont matter. what does matter is that youre home now safe in one piece."
The cops asked me a ton of questions about the people who bully me. They said once they find the person who recorded the video, that person who be charged with harrassment. Once the cops left mom made food and we all sat down and ate like a family and i actually smiled and laughed for the first time in weeks.
