The next couple of days at school weren't that bad. Of course people made sly remarks but it wouldn't be high school if they didnt talk shit. I got dressed and wore
I decided to straighten my hair this week. Like I said I don't do it often and even when it's straight I put lose curls at the bottom.
"Ready pretty girl?" Kianna asked coming into the room to check on me.
"Yes I'm ready are you?" I asked
"Yeah you look cute. Who is he?" She asked
"Who is who?" I asked
"The guy your trying to look cute for." She said
"There's no guy in particular. I don't dress to impress guys. I do it for myself." I said
"That's a great attitude to have. I wish I thought about it like that. Anyway come eat." She said I grabbed my phone and bookbag and went downstairs. Mommy made eggs, bacon and pancakes. I loved how she still gets up every morning and cooks for us.
"Good morning my little ones." She said
"Good morning ma." We all replied. Brandon came and sat next to me.
"You looking pretty gotta date after school?" He asked
"No. I just wanna look nice. I know I'm no fashionista please don't make it a big deal." I said
"We're not. You're a Montez it's in your blood." Kianna said smiling
"Thanks." I said shaking my head.

After we ate we headed out the door. Kianna drove her car this morning so I tagged along with Brandon. I was texting Destiny and Briana. We became really close in a short amount of time.
"How's school going? Kids still being mean to you?" He asked
"Of course they are but I'm used to it anyway." I said
"Kiki you shouldn't have to get used to people treating you like shit. Your lucky I'm not around when it happens. You're my little sister I'm not letting anyone treat you any type of way." He said
"At least I can say you two care about me being bullied if not anything else. I'm fine Brandon words don't hurt me. As long as they don't put their hands on me I'm good." I said
"They better not put their fucking hands on you." He said
"They don't." I said
"I love you little girl. Sorry if I get over protective." He said
"It's okaaay and I like that you're over protective it makes me feel like you care." I said
"I do care." He said
"I know." I said as we pulled up to the school. He parked the car in the Seinor parking lot and walked me to my first class.
"You don't have to walk me to class everyday." I said
"I want to. I want people to know who's little sister they're fucking with." He said I smiled and stood on my tippy toes to kiss his cheek.
"Thanks bro." I said
"Incest." Someone coughed walking by.
"Shut the fuck up. Just because your family doesn't show you love doesn't mean I can't show my sister love." He said to the kid.
"Stop. I have to deal with that later." I said
"No you don't." He said
"Whatever bye." I said
"Hey don't be mad at me. Just start sticking up for yourself and you don't have to worry about me doing it." He said
"Mhmmm." I said
"Bye baby sis love you." He said
"I love you too." I said slipping into my class.
"You're brother is so fine." Destiny said as I sat down next to her.
"Honestly stop." I laughed
"I can't help it." She said
"Well you need to." I said
"Why you so uptight about it. Girls talk about your brother all the time." She said
"But they don't spend the night at my house." I said
"Sorry." She said
"It's cool. So what you been up to?" I asked
"Nothing. I hate how we barely have classes together. I have to hang with this other group of girls." She said
"I would never complain about making new friends. I have Briana to hang with when your not around." I said
"That's good at least. Look we've been best friends for years now. I don't I want nothing to change that. Let's promise that we won't let nothing come between us. No boys, having different classes, having other friends, we always put each other first." She said
"I'm not like that. You should know that." I said
"I know. I guess that's more a reminder for me than you huh?" She said
"Yeah." I said
"I know." She said frowning I gave her a hug.
"Eww Destiny no. When I said no losers I meant girls like her." Brittany said
"She's not a loser." Destiny said
"I got this. Someone told me I have to start sticking up for myself. Look just because I have glasses and wear braces doesn't make me a loser. If anyone's a loser its you for judging someone based on their appearance. Your dismissed." I said
"Good job Kiki." Destiny said
"Oh yeah good job. Shut up." Brittany said pushing me in my seat. I stood up.
"Look bitch I've never done anything to you. You're not about to put your dirty hands on me. I dont know where they've been." I said
"I don't know who you think your talking to but you got the wrong one." Brittany said
"Apparently so do you. Don't let the nerd look fool you. I don't think you realize who my big sister is. She has a reputation for fucking bitches up." I said
"Then do something. I'm not scared of you." She said
"Nah you're not worth it." I said
"Don't make threats if you can't back it up." She said stepping to me.
"Oh I can back it up. You're just not worth it." I said as the door opened
"Is there a problem?" I heard Kianna say
"I got it covered." I said
"Destiny texted me 911. Wassup?" She asked sizing Brittany up.
"I told you I could handle it." I said to Destiny
"I just wanted to be safe." Destiny said
"Yo wait are you Gabriella DeMarco's little sister?" Kianna asked laughing
"Yeah." Brittany said
"Oh. Kiara don't worry baby. They're all bark and no bite. Don't waste your time." Kianna said
"I'm not going to." I said
"Donde es tu maestra?" She asked
"Yo no sé. No es importa." I said
"Hmm call me if you need me baby." She said walking out.
"I gotcha." I said Brittany rolled her eyes and went to her seat.
"She's kinda hot if you really look at her." This boy in the back said
"Without the braces and the glasses she could be bae." His friend said I sat flattered but I didn't let it get to me. My focus is on school. Boys will have to wait.

After class I was the walking to my next period. The same boy from the back ran over to me. He stopped me.
"Hey I'm Jayden. I never caught your name." He said
"Kiara." I said
"That's pretty. It fits you." He said I laughed
"Thanks but your just saying that." I said
"I'm not. You're a pretty girl. I don't know why people try to clown you. Probably because you intimidate them. Your Brandon and Kianna's sister right?" He asked
"Yeah. How do you know?" I asked that was a dumb question who doesn't know that.
"Kianna came to the class today and Brandon and I both play on the basketball team. He talks about his "other little sister" all the time." He said I smiled
"Well yeah I'm pretty awesome." I said laughing nervously
"I can see that. I'd like to get to know you better if you want." He said
"Sure why not." I said
"Cool. Can I have your number?" He asked we traded phones and I gave him my number. He did the same and saved it under Jay. I smiled
"Alright. I'll text you after practice." He said
"I have to stick around and wait for Brandon so I'll probably see you there." I said
"I'll look around for you." He said before walking away.
I thought about him throughout the day. We had two more classes together and he sat next to me in both of them. He invited me to sit with him at lunch and I walked with him to practice.
"Kiki I was looking for you all day." Brandon said when he seen me
"Why. I told you not to worry about me." I said he pulled me into a hug.
"I know. Nani told me about you sticking up for yourself today. I'm proud of you." He said I laughed
"Sometimes you get sick of the bullshit." I said
"I know. Rookie go to locker room and change. Practice is about to start." He said to Jayden.
"I am." He said running to the back.
"How do you know him?" He asked giving me the side eye.
"Same classes." I said
"Mhmm. Don't get all boy crazy on me. I can't take it." He said
"I won't I promise." I said
"Good." He said I sat in the bleachers and worked on my homework while they practiced. I kept feeling a certain pair of brown eyes looking at me. Every time I looked up they would focus back on their game. It was kinda cute. But I better not get to excited. He doesn't see me like that. I'm sure.
