elizabeth's pov

I tapped my foot furiously against the tiled floor as I checked the time on my phone for umpteenth time. They were late, again. My stomach didn't spare me as it grumbled for food, the aroma of the delicious food that wafted out from the kitchen of the diner didn't help.

Ben's Diner is an adorable, little quaint place owned by an old woman who named it after her late husband. It was our go-to place to hang out.

It was the beginning of summer, the idiots and I decided to meet up and hang out, but as usual they decided to be late. This wasn't the first time they were late. Oh no, no, they were always late to everything, and it was absolutely maddening.

The overhead bell of the door jingled signaling that someone had come and in entered one of the two morons. Jacob was an attractive guy with a mop of blonde hair, blue electrifying eyes, a defined jaw and stood at a height of 6'0. He had a lean body as well as a good sense of fashion, unlike most guys which made him quite popular the girls and guys.

His eyes searched the diner and upon seeing me his eyes lit up. He gave me his signature mega-watt smile which would make anyone swoon, but it didn't work on me. I was pissed, to put it mildly.

He sauntered in and winked at a girl who stared at him in awe. The man-boy had the audacity to stand beside me with outstretched arms as he waited for a hug. I glared up at him before going back to sipping my drink and staring out the window.

"Oh come on, Lizzy! It was Caleb's fault this time. He took so long to perfect his hair."

I ignored him.

He sighed, "Fine, what do you want me to do? Get down on my knees and beg for forgiveness?"

I turned around at that. "Do it." I challenged.

"Do what?"

"Get down on your knees and beg for forgiveness." I said nonchalantly.

"Wh- uh- What?" He stuttered. "You've got to be kidding me." His eyes widened in disbelief.

I once again turned around and before I could take another sip, "Okay fine. But Caleb has to be punished too, I'm not doing it alone."

"Fine by me."

As if on cue, the door to the diner swung open and in walked Caleb Hart. Just like his twin, he was a heart-throb. Maybe even more so with the bad boy persona that he sported and since most girls seemed to love bad boys, they would willingly fall at his feet. His ignorance towards them never failed to amuse me, and it also increased my respect for him.

Adorned in black from head to toe, he had brown hair in contrast to his twin since they were fraternal twins. But they shared the same captivating blue eyes. But the most prominent feature was the tattoos on his hands as well as his usual scowl that said 'I-don't-like-people'.

Strolling in, he went right to the counter and ordered the food. Walking up to the table, numerous eyes followed him, but he didn't seem to notice.

He plopped down beside me and slid the tray towards me. I dug in instantly.

"The fuck?" Jacob said astonished.

"That's how you do it, little brother." Caleb said with a smirk on his face as he patted his head. Jacob glared at him.

The twin's began eating a second later. Jacob was chattering away while Caleb sat there in his brooding silence, glaring at the table.

"Well, aren't you a ray of sunshine? What's on your mind?" I asked.

"His car broke down again and he's pissed cause he can't live without his baby." Jacob mocked him.

Caleb retaliated with his favorite response when it came to his twin.

"Shut the fuck up."

Jacob just pouted and went back to eating.

"Caleb, spit it out." I urged as I took another bite.

He sighed. "My car broke down." He didn't bother to elaborate.

"And?

"I need a lift for something important."

Jacob perked up at this, "What important thing? Come to think of it you didn't tell me where you're going." Caleb seemed hesitant to answer.

"Caleb, where are you going?" There was a slight edge to his voice, and I backed down. This was between the twin's now. I never wanted to deal with an angry Jacob. He was scary to say the least.

"There's- uh... scheduled a fight for tonight." He whispered it so softly that I wouldn't have been able to hear it over the loud chatter of the people if I wasn't straining my ears. Caleb was unnerved and fidgety and this stoic boy was never fidgety, ever. This was going to be bad.

"I don't think I heard you correctly. You're going to that shit-hole after I told you not?" Jacob stated calmly. Waves of anger were radiating off Jacob, and I pushed myself farther into the seat, trying to make myself invisible.

"Yeah, I am going to that shit-hole for the last time. It was an impulsive thing and it was already scheduled way before, so I can't back out now." Caleb blurted out. This idiot.

"Um...Jacob-" I said trying to do some damage control before it got worse.

He held his hand up to stop me, "No, Lizzy. This does not concern you. I want to hear what he has to say."

Uncomfortable silence enveloped us. The both of us jumped when his fisted hand hit the table. He swiftly got up and walked out of the diner.

"For fucks sake." Caleb said, running his hand through his hair.

"Go apologize and get ready to beg for forgiveness." He nodded in response and got up, following his twin.
