"So we have no idea how this thing got here. We can't open it and we can't move it without a significant amount of help." Detective Jim Brass shouted over the howling wind. "Makes you wonder how anyone was able to get it up here."
Russell wasn't really paying much attention to what Brass was saying. He was too busy looking around him. The phone box looked out of place, wedged in between two hedges on top of some rocks. It didn't look as if it had been there for too long, as none of the bushes seemed to have grown over it.
"If you don't mind me saying" Nick said rather than waiting for a reply from Russell "I really don't see what this has got to do with the crime lab. I don't see how this is a crime on any large scale. How about you Russell?"
Russell wasn't beside them anymore. He was now standing right in front of the large blue box. It seemed familiar to Russell. Like he had seen this exact one before somewhere. He reached up and placed a hand on one of the white glass windows just above his head, then he examined the small golden lock on one of it's doors. The wood was scratched. Some of the blue paint was chipped off. The small cylinder shaped light bulb on the top of the box seemed to be broken. The bottom of the phonebox was chipped and splintered.
"A mackenzie Trench style police box. Popular in the United Kingdom in the early 1930s I believe." Brass said, standing behind Russell. "That's all I could find out right now. I'll let your investigators do the rest."
"It's strange" Russell said without turning around to face the detective.
"What is?"
"Look at the way the bottom of the box is cracked and broken" Russell took a few steps back so that he was standing beside brass and pointed to the base of the phone box. "It's like"  he paused for a moment, glancing upwards towards the night sky.
"Like what?" Jim encouraged.
"It's like it just fell out  of the sky."
"So, what?" Brass asked, always being the one to try to make sense of Rusell's ramblings "Helicopter? Aeroplane?"
"Yeah, maybe" Russell said, still staring at the box "Bring it back to the lab."
"Yeah" Brass sighed and turned to walk away. Russell saw him take his phone from his pocket and call for assisstance.
Well, that's that then." Russel began making his way back to the SUV that he had driven to the scene.
"Are you serious?" Nick asked. "We can't take this thing back with us! It has no place in an investigation."
"No." Russell said as he opened the door of the SUV.
"What?"
"No, I'm not serious. I usually never am when it comes to taking phine boxes and trains back to the lab" he recalled the time he had Brass take a carriage from a train back to the lab. "And how do you know that it's not part of an investigation?"
"Because there's no evidence Russell." Nick sat in the passenger seat of the vehicle and shut the door.
"Well, we're going to find some."
