Yesterday is my most faithful lover,
In a cold embrace, he holds me tight;
On my loneliest of days
His palms shield me from the blazing light.
Everyone leaves, when he stays by my side
And holds my hand while he leads me
Through the darkness of an endless night.
His friends get jealous,
As they never find me free.
And leaves a mark on me each time
He visits, to stake his claim.
So that every time my reflection in mirror
Shows me of a single change ;
The gentle bruise his mouth left on my neck.
Thinking that red looks ugly on me,
I consider a blue when
He comes to my rescue, assuring me
Of how perfect I look, just the way I am;
And so I never stop wearing red.
He becomes my gravity
While I fly freely in his strong arms.
When he comes home
I wipe his tears off my face,
And nurse his wounds on my chest.
So in return, he makes the time stop,
Just so that every second counts.
Till I lose myself in him completely;
Forgetting my name and everything around.
Looking into his eyes, I see my future,
So I praise the lords
When he says he won't ever let me go.
And I never miss him
Because he never really leaves.
And I thank the heavens everyday
For giving me a lover like him.
