i often have these twisted misconceptions
of what love truly is
for years i thought it was the blood stricken
stains that laced these carpets
or,
the moon light bruises that danced across my skin
for a while I even thought it was the insults and lies
followed by the twisted talk of "I love you's"
but,
all you ever wanted was control
the power to have my freedom
to take my selfish thoughts and lock them away
for your own, of course
you see
your love is nothing more than the wasted breath
that leaves your lips.
