Chapter 28 - Graduation
Bridgette's pov
Finally! Today was the day, I was going to be out of high school forever. No more getting up early in the morning, no more loud ass teens, no more annoying teachers, no more boring classwork and homework, no more pop quizzes and tests. I was ecstatic, so were Alison and Victor.
After the whole chaotic meeting we all had on Saturday, I stayed with Kendall at her house for the night and went home Sunday morning to the house. Mother was avoiding me, she would only say one word to me and then kept it moving,
I knew she was still upset about what happened, but I could care less. Me and Kendall were still planning on making things official today after I graduate. She said she was going to treat me to dinner as a congratulations present and a proper first date.
I was nervous and excited, I had already gone shopping with Kendall yesterday for what to wear. I picked out a baby blue dress that was not backless and went up to my knees. I matched it with white stockings and black heels with my hair straight and some light pink lipgloss as well.
Kendall would not let me see what she bought and I was annoyed. I showed her, why couldn't she show me, I begged her to let me see what it looked like. All she responded with was a 'wait and see', frustrated, I left it alone. She better look like a queen with all this mystery going on about what she bought.
Alison texted me saying that she and Victor were going to pick me up to go to the school. I would've gone with my mom, but I didn't want it to be awkward in the car.
''Ali, I'm coming right now, just adding the finishing touches on my make up''
''Okay''
I made sure that the dress was good and that my hair looked good. Since my prom got ruined by that weirdo, I had to make sure that my graduation would make up for it,
I thought of wearing my prom dress to graduation, but went against it because it seemed a little bit inappropriate to wear to a graduation, so I just bought a whole new dress. Of course it was blue since that was my favorite color.
As I was walking down the stairs, I saw my mom standing there with a camera in her hand and smiling at me. My dad was right next to her with a small grin as well on his face.
Quick update, my mom told him about me and Kendall, he was completely fine with it, which only irritated her more
''Dad, mom, how do I look?''
''Prefect sweetie, oh my god my baby is graduating from high school with all A's might I add'' my mom smiled big and hugged me,
''Look at my daughter, so beautiful'' my dad punched my shoulder and I huffed, mom rolled her eyes,
''Let me take some pictures of you'' my mom stepped back
''Okay''
My dad posed with me for a few, then my mom, and then me by myself. She took about like 10 pictures before she let me go,
''We'll see you there''
''Yes, mom can we talk real quick?''
She had a blank face and nodded,
''Damian, go wait in the car''
''K''
My dad hiked up his pants and patted me on the back. I patted his hand and he left without another word. I looked at my mom and she stood there,
''Bridgette, I've been thinking, this has been killing me. You ignoring me, I should be taking you to your own graduation, but I understand you're upset''
''I know, it's been really tense around the house''
''Look, I cannot accept the relationship with Kendall, but I won't stop you from being with her. I'll support from afar, I see you like her a lot and if she makes you happy then fine I guess. Also, your dad kept talking about it to me so much''
I laughed and nodded my head, I knew she wasn't going to just accept it, but at least she didn't ban me from seeing her,
''You'll come around''
''Ehh, never say never''
I hugged her and she hugged me back
''We should get going''
''Yes''
I opened the door for my mom and she grinned at me, we both went our separate ways. When I got inside the car with Victor and Alison, I saw them staring at me smiling with wide eyes,
''Wow, you look pretty Bridgette'' Victor looked at me,
''Thank you Victor, you both look great, so matchy matchy''
Alison laughed, they both were wearing purple. Alison was wearing a purple dress with ruffles at the end and her hair was in a long ponytail while Victor was wearing a purple shirt with a black suit jacket and black slacks to go along with it and his hair was the same as usual,
''Let's get going'' Alison pointed at the road and Victor started the car right away,
''Guys, my mom told me that she's fine with me and Kendall's relationship, like she hasn't accepted it yet, but she won't stop me from seeing her either''
''Awe, well that's nice, bittersweet, but still good that at least she didn't keep you away from Kendall''
''Yeah''
''Don't worry Bridge, she'll come around'' Victor looked at me in the rear view mirror,
''I hope so''
''I can't believe we're finally done with this hell hole finally''
''Yeah, are you guys going to college?''
''I got a football scholarship''
''Awe really, that's so good Vic''
''Thank you and Alison said she's going to go as a undecided major''
''That's a thing?''
''Yeah, I don't know what I wanna do, so I decided on that for now until I can try out things and see what I like'' Alison stated
''Kendall offered to show me some colleges, but I still don't know if I should go''
''Why not?''
''I really can't handle more school''
''Yeah, but a degree helps to get a career, at least that's what they told me in high school'' Victor said
''Vic, love, that's bullshit, Bridgette, college doesn't guarantee a job, but it could help you on the path in life. I rather go to college and learn new shit about something I'm interested in than be a fat lazy slob who has no job and just lives at home all day''
''I guess so, I gotta think about all of this''
''I can't wait to hear my name being called, 'Alison Anderson' oh that's going to be good, rub it in everyone's faces who doubted me especially Carter's punk self. Still can't believe he tried to keep me from graduating''
''You deserve everything you got coming to you Ali, thank god we ditched Carter, now we can be the fierce three''
''Nah, we need a new name now, how about the three musketeers'' Victor chimed in
''Lame'' me and Alison both said
''The three amigos''
''No'' Alison said
''The three buds''
''Eww'' Alison gagged,
I laughed and bit my lip,
''How about the golden trio?'' I looked at them both,
Alison nodded and smiled,
''I do love gold'' she said
''You still are the same girl Bridge, always got my back''
''Yes''
We laughed and Victor stopped his car in the parking lot,
''Let's go''
We all got out of the car and fixed ourselves, the golden trio...I really am good at coming up with nicknames, am I?
When we walked inside, we saw decorations. Our school colors stayed true to themselves and everything was white and blue all over. People were walking into the auditorium, I saw my mom and dad being escorted by the principal inside, probably to be seated.
I looked for Kendall, but I couldn't see her in sight,
She must already be inside
Me and the crew walked into the auditorium and took our seats in the front row with all the other students. It was awkward for a second because there were three seats left, but one was next to Carter,
Alison looked at me and I looked at Victor and motioned towards the open seat, he nodded and walked in front of us with Alison behind him followed by me. Vic had the least damaging relationship with Carter so it made sense that he sits next to him,
Carter looked at me and grinned, I frowned and gave him a quick middle finger up, he laughed and shook his head before turning back to the stage,
Just because this is a happy day doesn't mean I need to be happy to everyone...it's still fuck Carter
When we were all seated, all the teachers came out and took their seats on the stage. There she was...holy shit!
Kendall came out with her hair straight down, a sight I've never seen since it was either in curls or a bun. She was wearing a skin tight red dress with dark red lipstick and black eyeliner with her legs showing and red high heels that made her look taller.
''Wow, Kendall looks so...fuckable''
''Alison!'' I gasped
She and Victor laughed and I slapped my forehead,
The principal came out and everyone got quiet,
''How is everyone today''
''Ready to leave'' I heard a boy behind me yell, some people laughed and the principal rolled his eyes,
''Well okay then, I just wanted to say some words quickly. I'm so proud of you all, I know this was a hectic 4 years at this school. Some good things happened and some bad things happened, but I love how you all remained calm and kept it pushing. I wish you all the best in your future journeys and pray for success for all of you''
Everyone clapped and I felt my face getting hot, no! I refuse to cry in front of people
The principal went on and people came up to speak about their experiences in school. It was a typical graduation, so no need to bore you with the details.
About two hours later, diplomas were finally given out. Ali was called first out of our group, she smiled and leaned over and kissed Victor. She went up to the stage and I was so proud of her. When we first met, I could tell she was just like me, a troubled girl who used anger and resentment for others to hide her own emotions. She really is an amazing girl, that's why we get along so well. I looked over and saw Carter just sitting there the whole time with his arms folded,
What a piece of shit, the most he could do is clap for his ex girlfriend. I'm glad Alison moved on, yeah she cheated, but everything he did after was just over the top. He should've just kept it moving
As Alison was walking off the stage, I saw her hug Kendall and it looked like she whispered something in her ear. I was curious and questioned her when she sat back down,
''What was that about?''
''I told her I was sorry for what I did and that she looked fuckable''
''Alison!''
She and Victor both laughed, Victor was called next and Alison patted his chest as he walked up to the stage. I clapped for him and he gave Kendall a quick hug as well. I'm glad I met Victor, he really was a misunderstood boy who came from a broken home and had trouble in school. But he was so sweet and he was trying and looking at him now, officially graduated from high school. I remember when we were dating and he told me he thought he never would make it here, well look at him now.
He got off the stage and I got up and made my way to the stage as my name was called, hugging Victor on the way up. I saw Kendall staring at me the whole time and I smiled at her wholeheartedly.
After I got my diploma, I hugged her tightly and she patted my back,
''Congrats beautiful, I love you so much''
''I love you too Kendall''
I patted her back and we let go, I saw out of the corner of my eye, my mother smiling a little bit at the interaction. She will come around soon, I'm sure of it
Kendall Red was a dream, something I didn't expect to get when I moved to Colorado and started a new school here. She was someone who was rare, a true love that I met before and got reconnected with again,
They say that there's a thing called second chances, I definitely believed it because if Kendall never was my teacher, we never would have gotten together and I would have missed out on the love of my life. Thank god I met her, my music teacher, my inspiration, my lover indeed
