Kai was so high that it wasn't even funny, actually it was hilarious. Her words came out very slowly and it took her forever just to complete a sentence. Those green eyes of hers were glassy, and slightly red. Sometimes when I drove, I would glance over at her to see her staring at me with a look of astonishment. Whenever I caught her, she would giggle like a little kid and look away from me. We had been driving around Chicago for about an hour, and Kai just kept right on preparing joints for herself. I don't care what she said. She was an addict. After taking a couple of puffs, I was starting to hallucinate. Cars looked farther away than they actually were out of the windshield, so I decided that Kai and I both needed to get off the road before we injured somebody or ourselves. I pulled up to a usually vacant bar that Noa and I frequented from time to time. Hopefully, a couple glasses of cold water could knock me back into my senses. "Where are we," Kai asked as if she was a child. "Athena, where have you taken me?"

I bit my lip to hide back a grin. "Uh, it's a bar, Kai." She nodded adorably before fumbling to open her door with her hand. I rolled my eyes and pushed the button in her car to stop the engine. We walked into the bar hand in hand. Kai was gripping onto my hand for dear life and she was smiling dopily. I led her over to the bar and ordered two glasses of water. The bartender gave us a perplexed stare. We probably smelled like nothing but pot, which made him be a little skeptical of us. Or maybe it was Kai staring right in his face, and giggling about how big of a nose he had. I punched Kai's shoulder lightly and she frowned. "Don't be mean!"

"It's massive," she said as she twittered. I laughed at her and shook my head. The bartender came back with two waters and I put one in front of Kai, but she quickly shook her head. She patted the bar top obnoxiously to get the bartender's attention. He raised his brows as in to ask her what she wanted. "I want a Mount Gay Rum and Diet Coke, because I'm gay! She's gay, too! We're gay! So, stop checking her out!" I snickered before hitting Kai's shoulder again. "What!? I don't want him to get his hopes up, angel!" The man went to go fix Kai's drink and she swirled around on the bar stool. She was worse than a child. She definitely didn't need any alcohol in her system. "Whoa," she said after spinning in her chair for way too long. "I'm dizzy, Athena," she said as she stopped and grabbed her head. The bartender put Kai's drink in front of her and I thanked him for Kai. The girl took a sip of her drink and nodded with satisfaction.

"Why did I take you to a bar," I asked as I watched her drink the strong spelling liquid. Kai was nodding her head to the song that was playing and swaying side to side between gulps of her drinks. I could see her mouthing the words every now and then. I chuckled as I saw her get up from her seat. She was nodding her head and she motioned for me to stand up to dance with her. I shook my head at her but she grabbed my hands and pulled me towards the middle of the bar. Even when she was absolutely wasted, she was a good dancer. The girl wrapped her arms around my hips and began swinging me side to side as she slurred the words into my ear. I wasn't sure what she was saying or what the song was saying, but I danced with her. I patted her head. "There, there, Kai." Kai pulled away from me and began dancing by herself. I chuckled and watched her, just like the other three or four people in the small bar. I decided to go back and sit again to finish drinking the waters I had ordered.

"Uh, ma'am?" I looked up to the bartender to see him furrowing his eyebrows and looking away from me. My eyes followed his. Kai was dancing on a tabletop. "Uh, she can't do that." I was about to get up and get Kai, but she ended up falling off the tabletop anyways.

"I'm fucking suing!" I quickly ran over to Kai, and crouched down beside her. "Athena, did you see that!? That table fell on me! I fell on that table!" She gave me an adorable frown and I tried not to laugh at her. "Athena," she said in a more serious tone. I raised my brows at her and she exhaled, "I think someone laced my weed with cocaine."

"You think," I asked sarcastically before pulling the girl onto her feet. "No more drinking or dancing. Come and drink some water," I instructed as if I was her mother. She nodded like a child and followed me over to the bartender. "Two more waters, please," I told him.

After a while of drinking loads of water, which didn't help anything, Kai naturally calmed down. She was still high, but she was enough of herself that I wasn't worried. She wasn't hyperactive at this point, but she wouldn't stop talking. But I was used to constant talking because of Lauren. Soon, I was straightened out enough that I could drive us back home. Kai would probably have to spend the rest of the night at my place since she was so trashed. I didn't trust her behind the wheel. She drove recklessly when she was sober, so I knew she would kill someone or herself under the influence. Once, we were in the car, Kai began rambling once again. "Look at how fast the cars go by," she said. "It resembles life. Life goes by fast, and it keeps going until it stops."

"That's very deep, Gandhi."

"Athena, I don't want to sound sensitive like Drake or anything, but what are we?" I glanced over at the girl to see her staring at me with her eyes squinted. "I mean, I like you. I kind of love you. It was like a love at first sight type of thing. Well, actually, when I first saw you in the restaurant in that small outfit, my first thought was, 'I'd fuck the hell out of her.' But I got to know you better and it just wasn't about your body. I just liked how you treated me and I liked your friends and family. When I say I love you, I don't mean that I want to marry you or anything. No offense. Maybe in the future. But I mean that I care about you. Like if you died, I'd cry. If I saw you with someone else, I'd be pretty pissed off. I care about you. I don't want you to get hurt, and if anyone was to hurt you, I'd fucking killing them, Athena. I really will." I bit my lower lip since I could feel Kai's eyes on me. "You're so nice and beautiful and I just-I'm confused because I don't want to rush things, but at the same time I don't want anyone to snatch you away from me. You're a catch, and I see the way Jett looks at you sometimes. She'd steal you away from me if I ever gave her a fucking chance."

"She'd steal me away from you? Who said I was yours in the first place?"

"Well, I thought the obscene blushing you always do when you're around me, the way you look at me, the way you smile at me, and the way you screamed when we had sex were signs that you were mine, but I guess not. It's fine, if you don't want to get involved with me. I just want you to say it right now, so I don't get caught up and fucked over again."

"No, Kai. You're the only person I'm interested in. I just asked that to see what you'd say. You're high and speaking your feelings so I'm taking advantage of that," I replied honestly. She wouldn't remember anything she said in the morning anyways. Kai laughed at me and I laughed too.

"You're taking advantage of me!"

"Am not!"

"Am too!"

"Suck my ass!"

"Don't threaten me with a good time," Kai said before she began shimmying in her seat. I laughed but rolled my eyes at her, and she turned up the stereo in her car. "I love this song," she said as she started grinding the air. I laughed out loud as she nodded her head to the sexual song. "Do you want me to sing it to you!?"

"No! You sound like a dying-"

"Girl, change into that Victoria Secret thing that I like. Alright, okay, tonight you're having me your way." I bit my lip as Kai sung into my ear. She sounded horrible, but yet she still turned me on. Her hand met my knee and I groaned and glanced over at her. She had a mischievous smirk on her face. Her fingers began walking up my thigh and I shivered under the touch. "Want to run my fingers through your hair, wrap me up in your legs, and love you until your eyes roll back. I'm trying to put you to bed." I slammed on brakes and Kai didn't even seemed fazed by it. "Then rock your body, turn you over, love is war, I'm your solider."

"Well, get out of the car, solider. We're home," I said before I lifted her hand off of my thigh. Kai frowned but got out of the car, and so did I. A car pulled up behind us, and I furrowed my brows at the unknown vehicle. The front door opened, and I sighed with relief when I saw Phoenix.

"Thank God, are you two finally calling it a day? If you want me to, I can take her high ass home."

"What? Have you been following us?"

"Oops, Kai didn't tell you? She's having someone watch over her like 24/7. Don't worry. I know my boundaries." I nodded and turned to Kai who was still humming the song that was playing in the car. She looked absolutely out of it. Phoenix offered to take her home but honestly, I didn't want her to leave. I felt like a little kid that didn't want to go home after spending a day at a friend's house. "Come on, Kai. I think you're too high to keep her company without being a nuisance."

Kai frowned. "But I want to stay."

"She can stay the night. It'll be fine. I'm sure we'll both be safe. You can just go on with your life, Phoenix," I said before putting an arm around Kai's waist since she was about to fall over. Phoenix laughed as he raised his eyebrows up at the both of us.

"Yeah, sure. Have a nice night, if she gives you a hard time then call me on her phone and I'll come and get her." I nodded and Phoenix walked back towards his car. I guided Kai into the chaotic house. The kids were running around, and Kai was gave out. She was struggling to walk and she was obviously tired from talking, dancing and singing. Everyone screamed greetings to Kai and she just smiled lazily.

"Is she okay," Ryker asked as he walked up to me. "She looks like a three year old after an insane day out at the park."

"She's fine. She just smoked way too much," I explained. "Did you get the groceries? Where's Matty? Is Dad still here?"

"Damn, slow down with the questions, Nancy Drew. Matty is taking his afternoon nap. I got the groceries, and Dad is back to being dad. He has disappeared once again. Everything is all good in the neighborhood. Now get Kai in a bed before she passes out."

I helped Kai up the stairs and into my room. I laid her down on the bed and she began snoring almost immediately. She'd probably be out for the rest of the night. I laughed before kissing her forehead. "Goodnight, crazy." I heard incoherent mumbles and then snores again.

-

I woke up alone in Athena's bedroom. Yesterday, I was overly high. Either someone laced my weed or I just smoked way too much. It was probably the latter. I was so high that I confessed my feelings to Athena in detail. Now she probably thought I was clingy or that she had me wrapped around her finger. I was kind of whipped, although. I'd do anything she asked of me and that wasn't like me. I loved to put up a fight, and put up a wall but I couldn't put up anything when it came to Athena.

I sat up in the bed and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. Grabbing my phone, I checked the time. Apparently, it was 3 PM. I really must've overdid things last night. After getting out of bed, I made my way down the stairs. No one was home but Ryker, who was smoking a cigarette while flipping pages in his English textbook. "Where's Athena," I asked as I watched the boy flick ashes onto the table without a care.

"You got her an interview for that job, remember? She left all dressed up, and hasn't come back yet, I assume." He took a long drag from his cigarette before looking me up and down. "You look like you need a good shower. Athena got you into bed around six, yesterday and you're just now waking up."

"I know," I replied before I started heading for the door.

"Wait," Ryker called after me. I turned to face him and he smirked as he stood up. He pulled out an empty bag. "You're right. High school kids love weed. I got enough for the concert tickets, and I guess for college applications, too."

"Damn, you're a natural. Don't go around boasting your money though. People get jealous, and plus Athena will start asking questions. If anyone wants some more, contact me and I'll get someone to supply to them. I don't want you selling anymore." Ryker nodded and I let out a sigh of relief. I was excited that everything worked out without Athena knowing.

"Alright. My girl is helping with the college shit, so everything is cool."

"Your girl?"

"Well one of my girls."

"Whatever you say, kid."
