The Door

Chapter 1: The Door

        She opened the door. The room was mostly empty, but only a table and chair was in the middle of the room. She walked into the room, toward the chair and sat in it. Where am I? She thought. She looked around the room while sitting in the sturdy chair. And drummed her fingers on the table. The door slammed. She looked up. Confused and startled. A chilling noise filled the air. Death? She thought. The room had no windows and only one door to leave and enter through. She got up from the chair and opened the door, slowly. She looked out the door and a horrific scene was outside the door. Wounded people moaning and groaning in a vast field powdered with gray dust. She closed the door quickly, then opened it again, slowly. Only to see a gigantic praying mantis eating its prey. She closed the door again, turned her back and slid down the door, crying. Where am I? She thought. Her worst nightmares were coming alive.
