Things were good for Jake, he managed to get the girl of his dreams, will probably tell his friends off soon and got into a club where he could be himself in. There were little things that could go wrong, or so he thought.
However, there is still one thing bothering Jake, why is Hailey on the top of his list. The woman doesn't even seem to like him and yet the app declared them as the most compatible. It's strange, really. However, it's not like the app actually brought couples together...or did it?
There had been recent news of an akuma in the country of France, which made it to the worldwide news due to the akuma being devastated, thinking her date ditched her. However, it was all just a misunderstanding, thus bringing the couple closer together. It all seems fictional, really since the fact that there is no real supervillain who can transform people and everyday superheroes are the cops.
Every day, Jake could still hear Zander's looming threat, about hurting Hailey. Jake didn't think he would hurt her in any way but getting together with Daisy but Hailey cancelled on him for their ice cream hangout. Zander seemed to be meaner to Jake while the music club was happy for him, they didn't really seem all that enthusiastic. Except for Milly, she knew about Jake's crush on Daisy and was very happy for him and she did not know about Hailey and Jake's 98% compatibility.

When Jake and Daisy were walking to the music club, those who were present for the performance congratulated them a bit and carried on with their day. It's not really a big deal when people get together in this school anyway. People tend to underestimate Jake's hearing because when he got near the music club, he could hear someone crying in there. It was presumably a girl, probably around his year and she seems to be crying for a good reason.
"Daisy..can you talk to Hailey for me?" Jake asked his friend, who just tilted her head in confusion.
"Why Jake?" Daisy replied, blinking in confusion, it doesn't seem like she understood what was going on between Hailey and Jake.
"Well, last time, Hailey cancelled on me when we were going to buy ice cream together last weekend," Jake replied and the look in his eyes, Daisy could tell that Jake must really care for Hailey, probably more than Daisy herself.
"Oh...okay Jake, I'll go talk to her for you," Daisy replied while giving a sad smile. She knew that the two won't really last long anyway.
Daisy opened the door and walked into the room, to see not only Hailey but Zander there too. Zander looked like he had no clue what to do when his stepsister is crying, finally getting all her emotions out.

Let's rewind time a bit. Hailey and Zander decided to come to school earlier, so they won't get harassed by Zoey and her friends. Hailey was trying to not cry, from many issues going on in her mind, jealousy, sadness, anger and much much more. Jealous of Daisy, angry at Jake, sad from the lack of time to practise for the band competition and much more. Zander seemed to notice Hailey's discomfort whenever Jake is around Daisy but is fine with Jake if he's alone, happier sometimes too. Zander knew that feeling too well, whenever girls come near Luke, Zander felt like he could not compete.
"Hailey, we should go to the music club, no one will bother us there," Zander said, which made Hailey smile. No one really bothers with the music club or even try to come there, except that one time when Jake...wait, no.
The duo just walked to the music club, feeling thankful that Jake's buffoons did not come yet. If they did, it would mean that they would be harassed, as usual, despite how much Jake resents that, he doesn't stop them.
The two reached a familiar door and walked in, being thankful that no one is here. Hailey seems to know why Zander brought her here as she sat down on Sean's chair and laid her head on the table, crying. Zander just stood where he was not knowing what to do until he heard a familiar voice.
"Zander, I think this conversation should be between us girls."
Hailey looked up to see the girl she did not want to see. Daisy, who presumably dating Jake. Zander doesn't seem like he wanted to leave the room. Hailey motioned for Zander to get out of the room, which he did.
"Daisy..are you and him dating?" Hailey choked out, not knowing what to say to the girl. Daisy sighed and smiled, sure she likes Jake as a friend but she doesn't know how to exactly feel about him. Daisy thought for a bit, on how she was going to form her answer.
"Not exactly, he hasn't exactly asked me out yet and I'm not sure how to feel about him." Hailey's eyes widened in shock, she didn't think that Daisy felt that way. However, anger is taking over Hailey's mind. Daisy could see the anger form on the club president's face.
"So...you're leading him on instead of rejecting him," Hailey muttered, loud enough for Daisy to hear. Daisy sighed, she doesn't know how to comfort someone well since she's usually in a happy mood most of the time.
"It's not like that Hailey, I do like him, as a friend and maybe more but...I'm not sure about my feelings." Hailey sighed, Daisy doesn't seem like she gets it. Even if she does like him as a friend, she still accepted it when she didn't feel the same way, which is still leading Jake on.
"But that's still leading him on...just get out, it's not like you can do anything anyway."

Let's change the focus to the outside of the clubroom and rewind time a bit. Here we have Zander and Jake, staring at each other. Well, to be more accurate, Zander was glaring while Jake was looking confused on what Daisy and Hailey were talking about. Zander, who was tired of seeing his stepsister hurting while keeping it strong so that no one would notice.
"Jake, remember what I said about hurting Hailey?" Zander 'randomly' asked Jake, who snapped out of his trance. Jake tilted his head in confusion, not knowing what to say about it. Jake remembers the threat very well, hurt Hailey and he'll be messing with the entire music club.
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, you're lucky that you don't know how much she is hurting," Zander replied before Jake could speak another word. Jake looked confused, Hailey was hurting? Why was she hurting, from what he knew, Hailey is one of the toughest girls he ever knew. Hailey was strong and independent but, Jake never thought that him going out with Daisy as friends would push her over the edge.
"Wait, Zander, what do you mean by that?! Just, tell me and I can fix this." Jake replied, not knowing why he said those words out loud. Sure Jake thinks that Daisy is the one for him but, he always considered hanging out with Hailey more often than with Daisy.
"Well, she's damaged because of you, Jake." That was all Zander said before Daisy walked out of the music club.
Daisy's eyes were filled with sorrow and worry, thinking about Hailey's words more and more. Like what if she was actually leading Jake on? What if she actually doesn't like Jake that way and she's only messing with him.
"Daisy, I know that look, tell me what's wrong," Jake said, noticing Daisy's eyes, full of sorrow and worry. Daisy just shook her head and bolted off, most likely crying in the process.
Daisy reached her comfort place, the garden. She cried a bit, thinking about Hailey's words to her. Daisy thinks Hailey did not mean it that way but, those words hurt. Thinking that she was leading Jake on, despite the fact that she feels butterflies around him. It's not like Hailey could see that, it's not like Hailey would be much better for Jake. It's not like Hailey is higher than Daisy when it comes to the soulmate survey app.
"Daisy! Are you feeling okay?" Daisy looked behind her to see Jake running towards her. Jake quickly sat down and gave her a hug. Daisy started to feel butterflies in her stomach and felt her face go red. Jake stopped hugging Daisy and cupped her tear-stained face. "What happened in there? Are you feeling okay?"
Daisy sighed, she doesn't know how to respond. Sure Jake was the one she loves as a friend and is the most decent out of his friends but, she isn't sure if she feels the same way that Jake is feeling for her. "Hailey just...thought I was..." before Daisy could continue, she just stopped herself, she doesn't want to hurt Jake after all. She doesn't want to lose a good friend.
Jake felt his face form from sad to neutral. Why would Hailey make Daisy cry when she was also sad? Why did Hailey cancel on him during the weekend when they were supposed to get ice cream? Why...

Author's Note: I am so sorry for the terrible chapter and hope this did not let you down. This is my first time writing angst so sorry that this is a letdown. I might rewrite this one day but for now, this is Chapter 5. Btw, I'm not posting this on discord since it's late at night for me :P
