Chapter 39: To Ball or Not to Ball
(That is the question)

A couple days have passed since our stay at the kingdom in the mountain of divisions. I've spent most of my days either reading a ton of books in the library or plainly hanging out with Chase and Enoch. However, I was always by Chase no matter what we were doing. The only weird part about it was that we weren't sharing a bedroom anymore. We've been accustomed to each other's company for so long I've forgotten how it felt to be alone. It was nice at first having privacy to myself once again since literally my dungeon days, but I couldn't help but miss him during the nights. It was rather tiresome as I couldn't help but toss and turn all night with little to no sleep. If Chase found out I was hardly sleeping he'd have a fit.

Okay, maybe not completely throw a fit. But he wouldn't be happy. He'd be concerned I wasn't sleeping and it would bother me to worry him. There wouldn't be any blame held. It was understandable. He is only looking out for me. He shows how much he cares about me. Multiple times during our stay here even when it's just the two of us alone in each other's company, I'd find him holding my hand or resting his head on my shoulder. It was comforting. I liked taking care of him and knowing he was safe by my side. The warmth of his skin on mine was like a blanket of comfort. All the subtle moments made my heart melt, and even when it didn't, there was nothing that would lead me astray from him. The limit does not exist.

A loud bang broke the silence shaking me from my thoughts. Chase got up from his seat across from me and went to go open the door. We were in the middle of a chess match, and I was just about to win. Two more moves and I would have this owned. Chase opened the door to reveal Enoch who came barging in anyways. Chase went back to his seat to complete his next move.

Enoch studied carefully while not speaking a word. I paid him no mind. Chase leaned back in his chair awaiting my next move. A grin spread across my cheeks. My hand reached over to my King, easily conquering his piece. Chase gasped, irritated that I had beaten him once again.

"Two out of three!" He said quickly with a grin. He probably assumed he would find a way to beat me. I shook my head at him.

"You're not going to win, Chase." I said triumphantly. "I'm unbeatable."

Chase rolled his eyes at me with a shake of his head. He stuck his tongue out at all childlike. There was no way to stop myself from giggling at his cute self acting so silly. Enoch cleared his throat from between us gaining our attention.

"I know you have to leave in a few days," said Enoch almost sounding a little sad that we had to go soon. "But my father is hosting a ball in your honor. He would be thrilled if you would attend. It's tonight so there's plenty of time to ready yourselves; however, he always does a weird theme. Tonight it's dancing with the stars, but like, literally. He always gets hung up on his weird books that he reads. But anyway, will you go?"

"Of course I'll go." I said surely. "I've never had a ball in my honor."

"Not even from your mother?" Enoch asked.

I scoffed. "Are you kidding me? She'll hold a ball for her collections of rare spoons rather than her only child. It's fine, I didn't like her balls anyways."

"Oh." said Enoch knowing it was a touchy subject to stay away from. "But yay! The King will be so happy. He'll announce you both down to the ballroom together. They'll have food and everything with a banquet. But I wouldn't eat the food. It's rather. . . unpleasant would be an understatement. The party is ten pm sharp."

"That's rather late for a ball," pointed out Chase.

"They're always late at night. It's easier for the guests. Don't expect anyone too fancy to come either. It'll just be citizens around the division." Enoch said. I didn't know the division had people living around it at all.

"What will you be doing?" Chase asked.

"I've got some things to do in preparations," said Enoch as he already was halfway to the door, "I'll see you later at the ball. Oh, Izzy! I almost forgot. I'll have you something and maybe for your little friend over here as well. I can only say you'll be matching. How exciting! Tata!"

And like that he was out the door leaving the two of us alone again. Getting to know him and being around him more made me realize who this guy was as a character. His looks did not match his personality at all. For looking like a demonic human hybrid he was more bubbly yet forward all the same. He's quite a character. I couldn't imagine seeing his scary side.

"So, two out of three?" Chase asked me bringing us back on track to what we were discussing earlier. He had a smirk playing at his lips thinking he had a possible chance.

I gasped at him. "Chase! You can't beat me. Don't waste your breath. But, I'll totally play you again. Just make it interesting this time."

Chase's mouth fell agape at my choice of words in awe. "Oh, so I'm boring you now?"

I chuckled at him, my eyes never leaving his gaze. His lips perked up in such a pretty way. Chase knew that my intention wasn't serious. His smile was contagious putting a grin to my lips. There was the slightest raise of his eyebrows that expressed his fond amusement with our conversation. Or, whatever you would call it.

"I wouldn't say boring per se." my lips wouldn't stop smiling. "However, you're far more entertaining than chess."

"But you love chess." Chase said confused. Dang it, you killed it. "How is that possible?"

I only shook my head. "Don't worry about it. I'm going to make dinner before getting ready. Or should I skip?"

"Well, he did say there will be food." Chase said.

I made a gross face at him. "Don't forget he said it was worse than unpleasant."

"Oh yeah, that." Chase said before thinking. He shrugged. "I don't know. I may go get Enoch to cook me something again tonight."

"He cooks for you?" I asked.

"Sometimes," Chase shrugged once again not really thinking much about it. "So, will we have another match? I may not be the best, but at least I know you still enjoy playing with me."

"Well, duh!" I said carelessly. "You're my best competitor. It's always fun and you're a great sport about it. If I didn't think so I wouldn't be here."

"That's true." Chase nodded before setting the next game up.

A couple hours had passed after we finished several matches. Of course like always, he was beaten. I can't help it. I never back down on chess. Winning every single one, we were beginning to tire out. We had to stop.

"What time is it?" I asked Chase as a yawn escaped my lips. Chase looked over at the clock.

"It's past 8."

It didn't dawn on me until a couple seconds later. Oh crap. We fricken forgot.

"Chase?" I said where he let out a soft hum in response. "It's two hours til the ball." He finally realized it too.

"Oh crap!" We both said in sync. We left the library, scurrying into the hallways and up the stairs to our bedrooms to get ready.

Out of breath, my body was already being pushed to the washroom. The old lady, who's name I don't remember, was beckoning me quickly. She practically stripped me out of the borrowed clothing and shoved me into the tub.

"Hey!" I said loudly. She didn't care.

She did her business washing my hair as I did the rest when she finally left me alone. I sank into the tub underwater to wash the conditioner out before getting out to wrap a warm towel around myself.

The old lady did my hair. She blown it with a hair dryer and styled it simply. It was simple and elegant. It was pretty. After completing with that, she left a dress on the bed in bedroom and left me alone completely. I did my makeup with a bit of a plain look. My eyes and lips were the only thing I touched up.

Getting up to my feet, my curiosity got the best of me to find the dress and see what it looked like. My toes hit the carpeted floor putting ease to my mind knowing I wouldn't slip. The bathroom was a pretty marble. The slightest bit of water on the floor and friction between it was dangerous.

The dress was gorgeous with a midnight blue matching my eyes. It was frilly and sparkly but it was way too pretty for me. Nonetheless, I put it on. Finding myself in front of the mirror, I gave myself a twirl as the frills of the dress rose and twirled with me like black rose petals.

I was ready. Finding my shoes and putting them on quickly, I scampered toward the door. I had no idea of the time but it was definitely late. Scurrying down the steps, there was no sign of Chase anywhere. He might already be there ahead of me. Geez, just how late could I possibly be?

My feet stopped in front of the giant doors leading to the ballroom. Classical music was faintly heard on the other side. Hesitation was in my step, almost afraid to open the door. With a push, the doors opened loudly with a creak. Below from the grand staircase were many people and creatures I haven't seen. There was no sight of Chase or Enoch. However, there was the king sitting at his throne at the far end of the ballroom.

"Presenting your royal majesty from the Looking Glass Lands, I present princess Isabella White!" A booming voice came out from nowhere. A bright light shined on me making the dress sparkle like starlights. All eyes were on me. There wasn't a single movement in the crowd below except for the king raising his goblet to my honor. It was awkward and silent. I didn't like it.

I took a step lowering myself from the top of the stairwell. Reaching the floor of the ballroom, I found the king had made his way to me unbeknownst. He took a bow in front of me as I repaid the respect with a curtsy.

"Thank you for coming for my fine establishment of a ball." The king said. His mustache scuffed up as he grinned. "May I introduce you to a refreshing beverage?"

"Thank you, your majesty." I gave him a nod. He snapped his fingers and a waitress placed a plate in front of him with shiny glasses of a pale bubbly liquid. The king took the glass and handed it to me where I immediately sipped. It was sweet yet slightly bitter. It had a carbonated taste to it with a subtle fruit-like zesty flavor. There was a dry but flavorful taste. It was delicious.

"How is it? It's one of my special blends." The king asked me. I gave him a short nod with a little smile to my dark lips.

"It's delicious, your majesty." I said while finishing the single little flute glass.

"Please, have as much as you like." The king said before handing me another full glass. I nodded a thank you as I took another sip. A guard had walked up to him and whispered in his ear. The king pulled away with a sigh. "If you would excuse me, your highness, I have some other matters to attend to. It seems my bandersnatch has been loose once again."

"Of course, your majesty." I said giving a curtsy at him as he strolled away with the guard. My eyes were glued to the king as he left my side to go and leave the ballroom. An arm snaked around mine linking together.

"Hello, Enoch." I said looking behind him for Chase. Where is he?

"You're late." Enoch said. I rolled my eyes.

"Well, I'm here now." I said as I took another sip. He noticed the cup in my head but said nothing.

"Have you seen Chase? I haven't found him anywhere." Enoch asked. My smile fell, basking in worry. "He was supposed to be with you at the top. He hasn't shown up at all yet. Did something happen between the two of you?"

My face flushed. "Of course not! I thought he would be here already. Do you think he's still up in his room?"

"Don't worry, I'll go find him." Enoch said as he pulled himself away from me. I felt slightly at ease. "You stay here and mingle. Don't worry your pretty little head. Go and enjoy yourself."

"Thank you, Enoch." I said giving him a smile. "Are you sure you don't want me to come with you? I can help."

"And let you miss your own party? I don't think so." Enoch said with a taunting shake of his head. "Stay here. Have fun. Dance! Have another drink. Just don't worry about Chase. He'll be fine. He's probably struggling to put on a tie, the poor thing. I'll go get him so he won't miss the fun."

I wrapped my arms around him in a hug. "Thanks, Enoch. You're the best." He winked at me before disappearing in a smoky haze. Sometimes I forget he can do that.

Turning around, my ears began to focus on the beat of the music. The classical music had a nice swing to it that was easy to dance to. But my focus wasn't on the music or the dancing. Rather, it was on the people. Now noticing them, they weren't really that different from the others who didn't live on the division. They only had darker skin tones or scales or leathery skin with black, beady eyes. They weren't so different. Maybe in appearances, but take a look at Enoch. He's one of the sweetest people I know. Surely, there were plenty of others just like him too.

Most eyes averted from me to there friends, obviously talking behind their hands. Their dark eyes were clouded with judgement. There was no telling if it was because of me or my mother. Honestly, there was no blame held toward them because of it. They had a right to their opinions.

A waiter came by with a tray of the drinks. My hand reached for another glass, putting the empty one on it as I sipped onto it quickly. Looking around, there wasn't much to do. These were kind of boring. It would be more fun if my friends were here, but I was left alone.

Two taps fell on the back of my shoulder causing me to turn around face to face with a stranger. He wasn't much older than me. He looked slightly similar to Enoch, but his hair was a little lighter and there wasn't much scarring.

"Hi, I'm Damon." The boy said with a dazzling smile. "I'm Enoch's older cousin. You're Princess Isabella, aren't you?"

"I am." I said with a short nod. The boy grinned, his fangs poking from his teeth.

"Wonderful!" He said cheerfully. "Would you like to dance with me?"

As uncomfortable as I was, I shoved it down to be polite. Finishing my glass, I sat it down on the tray when someone walked over. Damon held out his hand which I held as he guided me to the dance floor. His other went to my waist taking me off guard. I remained still as my other hand went to his shoulder as he led the dance.

"You're an excellent dancer," said Damon with a smirk. I gave him a nod, not really sure.

"You're not so bad yourself." I remarked.

With only a couple minutes of dancing, I was beginning to get bored. My mind went back to the bubbly drinks that the people were handing out willingly. I was in a wonderful mood. Confidence was in my bloodstream with the random urge to start a conversation.

"So long have you known Enoch?" I asked him sparking a discussion.

"Before he was born. I was three. So that would make it about twenty years." Damon said.

"Oh! You're only three years older than me." I said easily excited. He smirked. "I bet it's fun being a bit more grown. Adult stuff and all that other wacky stuff. Is it hard? You probably have a lot of duties and responsibilities, don't you?"

"You're quite chatty, aren't you?" Damon chuckled to himself. I grinned. I wasn't as uncomfortable anymore. "Want to go somewhere quiet to talk?"

"Only," I said putting a hand on his chest to stop him, "if you get me another one of those." Pointing at one of the sparkly drinks on the tray, Damon gave me a wink before stalking off to grab some drinks. I stalked off finding an open balcony.

It looked like I was escaping from my own party. However, there was a sudden burst of fresh air needed. And another drink. Before even thinking, my feet were already ahead of me impulsively taking a mad dash toward the balcony. Letting out a huge breath, I threw my arms in the air as the wind picked up speed.

I decided to speak of one of my favorite poets. "Wind; solemn sleeping on a branch where thy petal falls. There it breaks from thy stem. It's breath cascades slowly like water off a geese's back. Slowly, turning and turning and spinning and spinning where thy petal kisses thy earth. There thy petal loses its breath, thy color fadeth from thou stem. Eternal conundrum till death rises from the grave. Beauty is never an end."

"Riordan Wenlock: Tales of Destiny." I heard Damon speak behind me, handing me my forth glass. I took a sip. "One of my favorites."

"Oh definitely!" I said quickly. "Didn't realize I was a poem myself until I remembered the Glass Walls of Cherubim."

"So the prophet finally awakens." Damon said taking a gulp of his drink.

"Nah, no prophet." I said with a vigorous shake of my head. "Just an ordinary girl with a stupid fate. I didn't even want it. But here I am, Wonderland! Are you happy now? Because I'm not!"

Damon beside me smirked. I couldn't tell what he was thinking. Frankly, I couldn't tell what I was thinking. My words found themselves sluggish just as much as my movements. I finished the glass, setting it down on the ledge as I stared out from the mountains of Division. I could see my homeland from here. It was in complete ruins. How sad. Not like I liked it anyway. It was always a prison. It wasn't that far fetched from my aunt's prison either. Now that was what was really sad.

Damon sat his half-gone drink. I pointed to it questionably and he shrugged, not caring as I took his glass and finished it for him.

"You sure like champagne, don't you?" Damon said with a smirk.

"What?" I looked at him confused. "I haven't drank alcohol. What are you talking about I've never even had that before. Does it taste good? Is it like this? Because this," I giggled, "this is good!"

"It is, isn't it?" Damon smirked at me. He threw an arm around my shoulders. I didn't care. There wasn't a care in the world in my mind. I felt relaxed and comfortable. Everything was okay.

"Is it hot outside or it is just me?" I asked out of nowhere. My face felt exceedingly warm. The wind was gone and it wasn't cool anymore.

"It's definitely you." Damon said. I rested my head in the palms of my hands as I relaxed at the railing. A soft breeze picked up making my hair swift over. It felt nice against my skin. Damon's fingers twiddled with a strand of my hair pulling it behind my ear. I turned, looking up at his obsidian eyes. They were filled with a hungering over something. Something strange and unrecognizable.

"Isabella, do you know how absolutely dazzling you are?" Damon asked me.

I looked up at him confused. "Dazzling?"

"Yes, dazzling." Damon said with a smile. "I mean, look at you. You're practically glowing. My uncle sure chose a good theme this time. You really are among the stars with your ethereal beauty. It's intoxicating. You're intoxicating, Isabella."

My eyebrows furrowed, confused. Why would he think such thoughts about me? It was answered quickly. His eyes fell shut, forcing himself onto me. His lips met mine forcefully as his arms wrapped around my waist, holding me close to him. My hands went to his chest to pry him off. It felt like a dream. My strength was failing me or he was just too strong. What is he?

My eyes opened trying to pull him off of me. My hands pushed at his chest or to simply pull myself away. His lips pulled off of mine grinning wickedly. His once black eyes were now blood shot red as he chuckle was distorted with a demonic voice blended with his. It was like a second voice overlapping his. It was strange. Am I drunk or am I seeing things?

"Oh yes, Isabella, may you reign truthfully," said Damon in his demonic voice, "but in darkness. Let your true self rise into power. Let it overcome. Let the light splurge into a dark void where it consumes your very soul. Do you know how powerful you'll be when you reach your fullest potential? Nothing can stop you, Isabella. No one can ever touch or hurt you again. Open your eyes. Look up and seize your truth. You were made to destroy and to cause chaos. You are misery. Let it soak into your veins. Let your blood pump maliciousness and death."

"No!" I shouted at him angrily. "Get off me!"

His blood red eyes turned red, actually, his whole eyes were red. From the pupils to the sclera, it was strangely scary. They were pulling me in as the red veins creeped around his eyes to shower his pale skin. His furry brows furrowed in rage with a low growl emitting from the base of his throat.

"You will turn!" Damon was furious. He held on tightly to my shoulders shaking me where it hurt.

"I said to get off me!" I shouted. He was scaring me. I was no match to his amazing strength. Struggling to pull away from him or move was impossible with him. He held me still so easily. It was so simple to him.

"Not until you confess," he hissed. "Say it! Say the words! You will turn to the dark side. Say it right now or I swear, I'll hurt your friends."

"No, you wouldn't!" I shook my head at him.

"Oh, your little boyfriend, Chase?" Damon said all sweetly. I froze in fear. "Oh, yeah. He's quite a catch, isn't he?" He started laughing. The pure joy and amusement in his laugh brought tears to my eyes as I watched him so delightfully enjoy watching me suffer in his grasp. "He was so easy to distract. Waiting for you to go to the ball with him. . . Easily persuading him that you were waiting for him at the doors only to find himself locked in the very dungeons of Enoch's home and right along with him."

"How could you!" I shouted at him thrashing in his arms but it was no use. He wouldn't budge. I felt helpless. Why can't I even think straight?

"All you have to do is say the magic words, doll, and all your problems will magically go away." Damon said enthusiastically. "Come on, already! Say it! I'll let your stupid friends go but you have to say the stupid words now say it!"

"I won't!" I shouted in his ear leaning in to bite his shoulder. He hissed. A strong force pushed me off of him as flung at the ground. Everything was spinning and turning. I blinked my eyes open to a grinning Damon. His eyes were bloodshot as fangs sparked from his mouths.

"If you won't do it I'll kill them both." Damon whispered in a sickly sweet tone. My eyes tightened shut. Tears rolled down my cheeks at the thought of losing Chase. My own selfishness. . . He wasn't worth dying. I didn't want him to die. But I was not going to give in to the demon's calling.

My anger rose inside me. A strong wind broke free encasing me in a whirlwind back to my feet hovering over the ground. Light emerged around my spirit with a blinding light taking over my body. The only emotion in my body was rage and pain. All I felt was anger.

"You fool!" My voice roared like a lion. "You dare use my friends against me?"

His eyes lit up in shock when a blast of blinding light blinded his vision. He screamed in pain as if he was burnt. My arms thrusted forward with open palms as light blasted his being to ashes and dust, destroying him instantly. The fight was hardly there.

The thrill raged inside me already wanting another one. I wanted to kill. I wanted to hurt someone. My head turned to the voices around me seeing the people dancing and drinking along at the party. A grin formed itself across my cheeks. I flew to the ballroom and impulsively shot beams of light all around me laughing as I destroyed columns and walls making the people panic.

"What is she doing?!"

"She's gone mad!"

"She's destroying everything!"

I only laughed harder. The amusement from the people frantically running about in horror had me in pure joy. Unbeknownst, there wasn't a realization that my glowing white aura was dimming into a fading shadow.

Ropes were found tightening around my wrists and feet pulling me down in each direction. A grunt escaped my lips, pulling from the constraints. I huffed furiously as light blasted from my fingertips burning the victims were were containing me. Their screams became music to my ears. I wanted them to suffer. I wanted them to hurt and feel pain.

"IZZY!" My head turned instantly. There was Chase, completely stricken with fear and horror at the sight of me. But I wasn't there. No, not completely. A new side of me was in place. The side wanted to kill. I wanted to destroy and hurt.

The boy ran to me trying to take hold of my arm. I screamed out, "NO!" before pushing him away with a fist. He fell to the ground, his head banging on the cracking of the floor from my wrath.

"Take the princess down!" I heard from behind me. My body whipped around finding Enoch and the guards surround me. "She's still in there! We've just got to —"

A growl escaped my lips wanting him to shut up. A hand thrusted outward blasting him with a beam of hot white light. Enoch screamed as he was burnt. It didn't matter. It was like an euphoric edge that fed me power and contentment with their pain and sufferings. It was glorious.

"Izzy, please! You need to listen to me!" Chase's voice called out. My head whipped around, seeing how close he was to me. "You have to turn it off. This isn't you. You're kind and you're sweet and you're the most loving person I know. But this has to stop. You're hurting people. You don't want to hurt them. It's not in you. You have to come back to your senses, Iz. Realize who you are."

"You don't know me!" I screamed trying to fight him off.

"Izzy, your spirit, it's getting dark. . . It's not you. You know who you are. I'm here with you all the way, okay? Come back to me, please. You're going to be okay." Chase said worriedly. His eyes were soft and it reminded me of the ocean. His eyes were like a storm in a raging sea. It was calming. "That's it, Izzy. Come to me. I've got you, alright? Take my hand, okay? Just take my hand and you'll feel all better. It's what you've told me before. You always feel better with me, so let it be true. Come on, Iz, take my hand. I've got you. I won't let you go."

Subconsciously, my shaking hand stretched toward his. It was like fighting with flesh and blood. It was a battle within myself. Chase took my hand, and my body fell forward collapsing onto him. Everything was back to normal.

Chase's arms wrapped around me holding me tightly close to him as I sobbed my eyes out. His hand strummed through my hair calming me down, but I couldn't help but feel so much remorse and guilt. I've never felt so much shame. It was so easy how corruptible I became. It was like an off switch in my brain that Damon purposely drug out of me. He knew how to push my buttons and it worked.

"I killed Damon." I sobbed through tears. "I killed someone, Chase. I hurt people. . . I hurt you. I'm so sorry. I don't deserve forgiveness."

"Shh you're okay, Iz." Chase said sweetly.

"I'm so sorry." I whimpered into his chest where I buried myself into him. "How did you escape?"

"Damon petrified me. He did the same to Enoch when he came to look for me. I was completely frozen in place. Nothing could've gotten me out unless he reversed it or. . ." He stopped talking. He didn't want to continue.

"Princess Isabella." I heard the king's voice boom. Instantly, I got up to my feet where I wobbled. Being myself again was hard. Especially looking at the king directly in the face. He was clearly upset. Behind him was Enoch, holding onto his arm tightly. For what was visible it looked like a burn.

"Oh, Enoch, I'm so sorry." I said shaking my head as tears welled up in my eyes again. "I shouldn't have hurt you." I began to walk up to him but the king's arm held me back from going any further.

"I think it's time you leave, your highness." The king spoke softly. He didn't sound angry. It was disappointment. That's what really hurt the most.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, your majesty." I said shaking my head at the man. "Please, Damon — your nephew — he petrified Chase and Enoch to stone to threaten and harass me. Damon wanted me to succumb to darkness. He threatened to kill them, your highness. He rivaled me up and I exploded. I killed him. My behavior was not justifiable and I sincerely apologize. I don't deserve any mercy or forgiveness. I deserve punishment. I understand why I should leave, but I'm not going anywhere until you know the complete truth. I would not do anything to hurt your son or anyone else. I promise you, sir, I know my actions were terrible, but please, please don't hate me. I'm so sorry."

"My nephew has always been a disgrace to my home." The king said. "He did not respect me. He dishonored his kingdom and was banished from his home. He was not invited. However, that does not give you the right to blame yourself. I am embarrassed by him. And I do not hate you, child. You just turned seventeen. You're still figuring out your path. You're of corruptible seed. It's a battle between the light and the dark. From good and evil, we all have tendencies to want to hurt someone or do something that we think is fair. But it's damaging. You must make a choice. Will this bring me peace? Or will it be my enemy? You have a fighting spirit, Isabella. You're very strong. But this can't be continued here any longer. You both need to go. Go pack your things. You two can stay at the abandoned lighthouse on the beach. It's right behind the mountainside just a bit further out. I'll have Enoch send you there personally for your safety in the morning."

"Thank you for your hospitality," I said giving a curtsy. Enoch stepped forward resting a hand on his father's arm.

"Father, they don't have to leave. I'm okay." Enoch said calmly.

"It's time they leave, my son." The king said beside him. "You can visit them all you want. Just don't get caught, Enoch." His son nodded in return.

"Thank you for everything." Chase said with a bow. The king and Enoch watched as we left the ballroom to gather our things. This was probably one of the worst days of my life. There was that feeling in my heart that kept going off that said I'm a monster. I'm a monster.
