In school is where we make our first friends
Have our first fights
And learn to blend
In here we became friends and enemies,
But some were so special we turned into frenemies!
From the Class I to Class X we were together
The moments we shared we will forever remember.
After the first bells gone
We would sing the school song,
And listen to our principal go on and on...
The fourth bell of the day
Was our signal to say
It's recess time, so go out and play!
We gave each other nicknames,
In abundance, we did that,
Some made us blush pink
Others made us mad
Sitting on the last bench
We planned our friend's fantasy wedding,
I wish memorable moments didn't have an ending!
Remember the time
When on slides we would climb?
And our teachers would tells us to always be kind,
To the others who stood in line?
Oh how I miss
The pranks, with which the teachers did we piss
They would scold us for this
But soon they would us dismiss
Making us let out a sigh bliss
We had not a single worry,
Yet... to compete our homework we would scurry
That time we didn't have to care
If the world wasn't fair
Because we knew our elders by our side were always there
The last bench buffet,
Was a memory I would say,
Where from the teacher we hid,
Making a mess as we did!
But we got way by saying 'I'm just a kid'
The games that we played
Some of them we made
Most of them were insane
But that was the fun of the game
The memes and jokes we sent each other on Instagram,
It didn't matter that most we didn't understand
We laughed at that in the end
On the desk awaited a chocolate
On the birthday of our best mate
But it disappeared if we got there late
The birthday song always included
The details of that someone
Who's name we excluded
The library soon became our bunking spot
But even there sometimes we were caught
Being the class monitor was always a hassle,
Because we had a class full of craziness to handle!
We became each other's tutors when need be,
And sometimes slept while during history.
The science lab was a sight to remember,
And how we fought over even a test tube and beaker
You think it would be hard being in an all girls school
But we had Loyola just opposite, so we were cool
The guides camp didn't fail to please,
But I can't seem to forget the night where we freezed!
The last day of school we dressed up to be,
The queens we were already
Tears gathered in our eyes,
As we saw our teachers and juniors waving goodbye...
Wishing us the best for our lives.
Looking at that building I then understood
That place right there was my entire childhood
And now as we walk away,
Towards a bright future, as they say
The memories replay
In my mind, making me nostalgic in a way
The friends and besties that I made
I have by my side to this day
And never will I ever say
I wish my school years away
We didn't realise the value of the time we had
That was because we hadn't lost it yet
Time flew away really fast
And we grew up like we must
How I wish we didn't grow up so fast!
But every time I see my school,
I remember that day smiling like a fool,
How I didn't want to go,
And now I wish I had never let go!
Author's Note :
Loyola is an all boys school opposite my former school.
I know it's a long poem, but it's twelve years of memories put into words so...
