her
we stand in chérie,
as the countdown for
another set of three hundred,
and sixty five days begins.
i hold west's hand in mine
and i smile as he says:
"you're the best thing that
happened to me this year."
he chuckles, kisses my cheek
and murmurs something i don't quite catch
the count is at 10 now,
and i take a sip of the glass
of grape juice in my hands.
west refuses to let me drink,
not a teensy weensy sip.
i wrap my arms around his neck,
"west?" i gulp, overcome by fear
the boy kisses my shoulder,"yeah?"
"SEVEN, SIX, FIVE, FOUR—"
and i whisper something to his ear,
his entire body freezes for a moment
my whole world fades into nothingness,
others around us become dust,
he and i are the only ones in the universe
"THREE, TWO—"
"what?" he asks, pulling away

"i think i'm in love with you," she says
and the deafening cheers begin.
