[A/N at the bottom. This scene takes place between Chapters 30 and 31 in my story. I hope you enjoy it!!]
They were wandering around a market. Kija was still a little feverish, and Yoon wanted to see if he could get something to bring it down faster. Calista couldn't contain her excitement as she ran from stall to stall, gathering up all the blades she could carry. It would've been comical if not for the pretty boy stomping in after her, yanking them out of her hands.
"No knives for you!!" Yoon shouted, pulling her away from the weapons stall. "Remember what happened last time?"
They had gotten jumped on by a lone group of bandits looking to plunder whatever resources they had. But during the attack, they had touched Shin-ah's mask.
So, she might've gotten a little testy.
Actually, that was an understatement. She wiped them all out in mere minutes, blood dripping off her blades, grinning maniacally once she finished exacting her revenge. Switching from deadly assassin back to the clumsy girl they all knew and loved made Shin-ah's head spin.
At the time, he was speechless. Even now, he didn't know what to say.
Calista pouted innocently, silver orbs rounding into irresistible puppy eyes. "But Yoon, they were asking for it."
Yoon cursed her and she grinned at the string of colorful words that left his mouth, Hak nodding subtly in approval. She flounced over to Shin-ah, who was dumbfounded.
"Yoon... is mad?"
"Maybe a little." Calista grinned devilishly, grabbing his hand and making a break for it as the enraged pretty boy closed in on them.
Shin-ah kept pace with her easily and Calista tried to ignore how perfectly her hand fit in his. She ducked behind a stall, pulling him behind her as she crouched down.
Of course, She rolled her eyes. You just had to pick this spot.
It was small. It could barely fit her, let alone her and Shin-ah. The blue dragon's build was broader than hers, and suddenly, she felt self-conscious of how close she was to him.
She was pressed flush against him.
Calista bit her lip, forgetting about how they were evading Yoon momentarily, trying not to get lost in her thoughts of the gentle Seiryuu. He was so careful with her. Her definition of soft changed once she met Shin-ah.
"Is he coming this way?" She asked him, hoping to the heavens that he couldn't hear how fast her heart was beating.
"No..." He murmured against her ear, and this time, she couldn't stop the shiver that shot down her spine.
His arms weren't around her, and she didn't quite know how to feel about that.
"Hey! If you guys aren't here to buy anything, get out!" The merchant of their makeshift hiding place yelled, catching Yoon's attention.
"Time to go." Calista mumbled, taking off in the opposite direction with Shin-ah in tow. They passed Yona and Kija on the way, and she shouted hurriedly over her shoulder, "Yoon's mad, I gotta go, I'm taking Shin-ah with me!!"
The princess giggled as Seiryuu tripped over his feet, righting himself at the last minute.
Calista led him to a tree, climbing up it with ease. Shin-ah stayed on the ground, looking up at her curiously.
"Come on!!" She urged, but he continued to stay down there. Shifting on her feet to lean over so that she could see him better, realization washed over her. "You don't know how to climb a tree?"
The way his head dropped down to the ground was both adorable and endearing.
"I'll teach you!!" Calista chirped, dropping down from her perch.
Showing him the ropes on how to find footholders in the rough bark, using them as leverage to climb up, she demonstrated a few times, Yoon's coming wrath forgotten. Several minutes later, he was starting to get the hang of it.
"You're doing great!!" Calista shouted encouragingly as Shin-ah successfully pulled himself up to the lowest branch.
She held up a hand to block the sun from shining into her eyes as she watched him experimentally move around a little bit, grinning as he hopped a few times in place, leaves fluttering to the ground. Swinging up next to him effortlessly, she beamed brightly at him as his mouth parted in shock.
"It's fun, right?!"
He nodded, carefully sitting back on the branch so that his legs were dangling on either side, his hands out in front of him to keep him from falling off.
Calista grinned cheekily, dancing up and down the length of hers, airy steps following her wake as she spun and leaped gracefully. Shin-ah was in awe of the control she had over her body. She looked ethereal.
When she was done, they both sat in silence for several minutes, but it wasn't uncomfortable or tense in the slightest. However, their peace was shattered when a very irritated voice shouted.
"GET DOWN HERE NOW!!!"
Calista flailed, and while Shin-ah too was startled, he was able to catch himself in time. She wasn't so lucky, plummeting to the ground at Yoon's furious voice. Landing lightly on her feet, she was almost too afraid to turn around.
She grinned sheepishly at the sight of Yoon's annoyed expression. He began admonishing her, but it was going in one ear and out the other, her eyes transfixed on the blue dragon perched above her.
Shin-ah fell down from the sky, Yoon shrieking in surprise as he landed right in front of him.
"Nice landing, Shin-ah!!" Calista praised, cackling once she saw the blank expression on Yoon's face. He pinched the bridge of his nose in irritation, thoroughly done with looking after all of these children.
They were almost all grown adults, save for Yona because she was both a child and a sheltered princess, but he didn't know why he expected more out of them than just acting like idiots.
He muttered something about rare beasts under his breath before sweeping away, leaving the two of them alone. Calista crooked her hands behind her head, swinging her legs leisurely as she strolled around the field.
He might be frustrated with them, but when it was dinnertime, he would still call for them, or send Hak to come and get them. Until then, they had the whole afternoon to themselves.
Calista dragged Shin-ah out to play in the field, pretending to be some kind of big predator that had to hunt him. He caught her each and every time. After about five times, her jaw dropped as realization finally hit her.
"Shin-ah!! You can't use your eyes!!"
The sound he let out made her beam brightly, dashing over to him at the first instant that she got.
"Shin-ah~" She sang as he turned his face away from her. "Did you just laugh?!"
Calista finally was able to face him, and once she did, the expression on his face made her heart melt.
He had brought his hands up to cover his face shyly, but she could see the blush on his cheeks. Putting him out of his embarrassment, she placed her hands on his arms, urging him to bring them down.
Reluctantly doing so, the corner of his mouth twitched ever so slightly as he remembered her whine. It sounded youthful, childish, and very funny.
Then, the playfulness was replaced by mischief and Shin-ah couldn't stop the corner of his mouth lifting up in a small smile.
"Do you want to do something really fun?" Calista bit her lip, thoughts racing with all the different possibilities of unsuspecting targets.
Needless to say, the night was filled with disbelieving shouts as Hak was pranked over and over again. His food was switched out with rocks when he wasn't looking, his sister drained the water he had, transferring it to another container, making him think that it just disappeared into thin air and even got Yona to hug him for more than ten seconds.
The way the two of them were blushing by the end of it made her snicker. Shin-ah was quite the capable sidekick. She high-fived him once before Hak caught on, and she screeched as he started to chase her around the campsite.
"So," Yoon remarked dryly. "We're going to give her knives to avoid this ever happening again, right?"
Yona nodded furiously, the heat still present on her face and not fading anytime soon. Shin-ah twisted his head, watching as the lightning quick Thunder Beast did his best to catch his just as fast, lethal assassin of a sister.
Calista's laughter rang out clearly as she took to the treetops, effectively losing Hak as he stayed on the ground, shaking a fist up at her.
He hid his smile from Yoon as he caught the wink Calista sent his way.
Nope, he definitely wouldn't be opposed if it happened again.

A/N: Lemme just say that I never expected for people to read this, let alone (hopefully) enjoy it. My love for YOTD knows no boundaries xD I hope that you are all doing well and staying safe while everything is going on. Reach out to me if you ever need to talk or if you want to share my obsession with this series :D
This story has been floating around in my head for some time now, and as a warning if you made it this far: I do sacrifice quality for quantity. I'm not a professional writer by any means, I'm just someone who loves this anime too much not to give it attention. This book will follow all of the events up until where the author has currently last updated, and if I get to that point before she posts the next chapter, it will simply be on hiatus until I figure out where she's going with it xD
Because I literally love all of them so much, here are my ideas for the future. I've started writing them, but I haven't posted them because... yeah... once a week updates kinda aren't my thing. I'm too impatient xD
Let me know if any of these are at all interesting! Or if they are a complete bore!

Hak x Hybrid! Reader (or OC) : hybrid either a wolf or some kind of big cat. He's her protector, or maybe vice versa, but the feelings go waaaay deeper than either of them acknowledge. Not to mention, the law concerning hybrid and their treatment are less than ethical. He's fiercely protective of her though, and in time, are able to break through society's expectations and be together.
Jae-ha x reader (or OC) : enemies to lovers really drawn out. Reader is hotheaded to a fault, and is always bashing heads with the green dragon. Will probably include really cliche lines, but will also demonstrate how much they genuinely care about each other before they are put in a position where they confess. [I know I already did a jae-ha x reader, but that one was so short D: please forgive me for wanting to write another one]
Zeno x reader (or OC) : Where she's not immortal, but she can block out pain, taking hits for every last one of her friends. She and Zeno get a happy ending because this boy deserves more than this world has thrown upon him!!
Kija x reader (or OC) : maybe soulmate edition? I'm leaning towards that one.
Reader x the four dragons+ Hak: this one purely 18+ content. Poly relationship. Smut without much of a plot. kind of on the fence about this one just because I doubt anyone wants to read it but ey if you do, tell me? xD
Modern au's include school, neighbor, soulmate (again yup), and a couple of others that I can't think of right now.
Also want to include birthday oneshots for each of the characters, probably will sprinkle it throughout this storyline unless it doesn't add up. If it doesn't then I'll just add onto the end of this book with like (8?) birthday oneshots because all the characters are precious babies that need all the love in the world!!
All in all, thank you so much for the 1K reads, I know I'm a little late in recognizing that, *bows in apology* please forgive me. I hope that you all have a wonderful day!!
