"I have a question, Commander."

Osamu inquired, raising his mechanical palm, and Mark quirked an inquisitive brow,

"Yes?"

The dark skinned male questioned, and Osamu explained,

"If the Elitists are already using brainwashing. Why are they still going through the trouble of locating the 'mind control' injection?"

He asked, awaiting a response intently, and Mark hummed,

"Good question. Well, that's because, it's possible to break out of a brainwashing spell and brainwashing isn't permanent."

Mark explained, and Osamu chirped,

"Isn't permanent?"

The silver haired teen repeated and Mark continued,

"Brainwashing is temporary, so in order to keep their soldiers under the same constant spell. They have to keep forcing them to undergo brainwashing procedures. Whereas, with the 'mind-control' injection, they have complete control over their soldiers without having to worry about their soldiers snapping out of their brainwashed trance."

Mark informed and Osamu sucked in a breath,

"Yikes."

The teen muttered, and once everyone was present in the meeting room. Mark waved a palm to silence the group,

"Alright everyone, listen up! Tomorrow we'll carry out our raid on the Elitist's headquarters!"

Upon hearing his words, your brows furrowed and a determined expression crossed your features,

Without a doubt, I will protect the ones I love!

You thought, and as the meeting came to an end, Mark waltzed over to you.

The scuffling of footsteps could be heard as soldiers and fellow comrades began making their way out of the conference room,

"(Y/n)."

Mark spoke, grabbing your attention and you raised an inquisitive brow,

"Yes, sir?"

You questioned, standing up promptly. Your chair screeching softly against the white tiles, and Mark parted his lips to speak,

"Your dresses and skirts are cute and all, but you absolutely cannot wear them during our attack mission."

Mark explained, gesturing to your attire and you glanced down at your outfit briefly before perking up,

"Alright, then what should I wear?"

You questioned, and as if already anticipating your words. A female soldier walked over and laid out a black combat uniform onto the table,

"Everyone will be wearing this uniform during our mission tomorrow. It'll help with mobility, and has plenty of pockets and holsters to carry extra guns and ammo."

You picked up said outfit, and examined it meticulously. It was definitely different from what you were used to, but you weren't opposed to the idea.

In fact, you thought the combat uniform looked awesome,

"Thanks, Mark."

You grinned, and the older male mirrored your smile.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You couldn't sleep, especially not with having the day of the attack tomorrow and not only that, but you would possibly have to sacrifice your life sometime in the near future. Adding to that, everyone was depending on you to become the cure to save humanity.

It was really stressful, but even so, you couldn't let the others see just how scared you actually were. You had to be the pillar they could rely on.

You layed your cheek against the cold hard surface of the table, and blankly stared at the wall ahead.

It was empty in the common room, and it was mostly quiet, seeing as you were the only individual in there after all.

You were simply left with your rampant thoughts, and the distant sound of the pipes. The boat's soft engine calmed your nerves,

"You feelin' alright, (Y/n)?"

A familiar male voice inquired, and you perked up. Turning to face the mysterious male and Kuroo sat down beside you whilst crossing his arms over his chest firmly.

Albeit his expression was rather neutral, you could tell that he was worried about you. Especially in the stern way his eyebrows knitted together.

Your gaze softened and you heaved a soft sigh,

"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm just--"

You trailed off, searching for the correct words to define your current dilemma, and Kuroo only continued listening to your voice silently,

"--A bit overwhelmed by everything as of late, to be honest. Being here, and not having to worry about the zombies and patrols has given me a lot of time to be alone with my thoughts more frequently."

You confessed, and Kuroo studied your visage, as if attempting to decipher your emotions. He could tell you had a ton of pent up feelings within you, and being the stubborn girl you were. It'd be a challenge to get you to vent to him, but still, he was willing to do whatever he could if it meant he could help you,

"I see."

He muttered under his breath. He averted his gaze elsewhere, before ushering you to continue,

"You know, (Y/n). If you want, you can vent to me. I'll listen. Think of me as your outlet."

He responded, and you turned to him, a rather shocked and perplexed expression crossing your features.

You didn't expect this from him, nor has he ever said anything like this to you before.

Did he have a change of heart? Or has he always been like this? Though, you had to admit you were incredibly grateful for his kind gesture.

You'd be lying if you said you didn't need someone to talk to right about now.

You constantly put on a brave face in front of your peers. It was something Kuroo's always realized, he just never found the time to actually come to you to talk about it.

You always felt like, you had to show them that you were strong, and could be there for them in times of need.

That way, they'd know that humanity's "cure" was levelheaded, and if they saw that the world's last hope was confident. Then, surely the outcome of this world's future would be just as promising, but alas, that couldn't be further from the truth,

"I'm starting to feel the pressures of being humanity's last hope. Especially with the raid mission tomorrow. I just want to be able to protect everyone, and I can't afford to fail. If I do, our world is doomed."

You voiced, and Kuroo listened intently, before nodding his head,

"It's understandable that you feel that way. I mean, having to save the world is one hell of a burden to carry. Especially for a young teenage girl such as yourself."

He started, looking to the ceiling as he plucked the words to say,

"--But that's why you have us here, (Y/n)."

Kuroo explained and you raised a brow. He interlocked his dark hues with yours, and you awaited his next words expectantly,

"We all care about you, and we're all close friends. We can help you ease the pain of this burden. We're willing to help you anyway we can, even if it means shouldering that 'burden' ourselves."

You smiled, appreciating his attempts to cheer you up, and while it was true that you all were close friends. You couldn't help but disagree with his words.

Your expression fell and you averted your gaze to the tiled floor beneath your shoes,

"Thank you, Kuroo. That means a lot to me, but--"

You paused, before confessing with a strained emotion etched into your features,

"--This is a burden only I can carry."

The military boat docked at the shore, and with the help of Ace's expert hacking skills. They all managed to return to land undetected by the Elitists.

The female gang's headquarters have more than likely been pillaged by Elitists now, so there was no point in returning there. Especially considering the risks,

"It's still daytime now, so when it gets dark, we'll carry out our mission."

Mark announced, and thankfully, Mark employed a team of special operatives to assist with the mission.

The point of this mission was to retrieve as many eligible soldiers from the Elitists to weaken their manpower, and destroy their headquarters.

Sure, it was a rather violent plan, but, considering all the lives lost due to the Elitist's behavior. The damages they'd be facing were minor in comparison,

"Until then, we'll be preparing to carry out the mission, and unloading the escape boats! Let's get to it, everyone!"

Chatter and footsteps immediately followed after as soldiers, and your peers assisted with what needed to be done,

Today's the day....

We'll be attacking the Elitist's headquarters.

I'm scared, but I know we can do it,

"I forgot to remind you, (Y/n)!"

You flinched slightly after hearing your name being called so unexpectedly,

"Yes, sir?!"

You squeaked, and Mark chuckled at your flustered response,

"Remember, we'll need to utilize that zombie power of yours in order to carry out this mission successfully. Sound like something you can do?"

He questioned, and you nodded firmly,

"I won't let you down, sir."

A/N: I know I haven't updated in nearly a month!! So sorry!!

But things have been getting SO crazy around here, and my mental health was literal shit.

But, anyways.

I would like to talk about some things I've been seeing in my book that's kind of been irking me.

1) A lot of you guys are mad at Oikawa??? For some reason?? Which I find very strange, but.

I hope you guys do remember that he lost his girlfriend and had to cope with seeing her zombiefied and shooting her.

He's still in the midst of grieving right now, so sorry?? That he didn't immediately shift his attention to the reader after she died??💀

Don't get me wrong he cares about the reader too, but, he's really just trying to get his brain in check right now, and he's had to fight a lot of inner demons. Cut him some slack.

2) I've seen A LOT of people complaining about 'not seeing their favorite character' or 'where's (insert favorite character)???'

Look, I get you want to see your favorite character but the thing is there are a SHIT TON of characters in Haikyuu and I can't write EVERY single character into every single scene and STILL maintain pacing and EVERY SINGLE CHARACTERS developments and background stories.

It would just,, literally be endless work, and chapters DEFINITELY wouldn't be updated as frequently because I have to focus on fitting every character and their development into the story and it would stretch this story's plot longer than it needs to be.

So instead I mainly focus on the main team captains/side characters who are the reader's love interests currently.

3) This didn't really bother me, but this adds to the 2nd one.

A lot of you guys wondering how the other schools were doing, and like an update on the gangs and wellbeings of characters.

And here's the list! Since I have way too much things going on in the plot right now to explain this in the story!!

The reason a lot of the gangs are broken up or have people missing is because of the virus (die/get bit) or because they were killed by Elitist activity.

Phew this was a long Author's Note, but. Feels good to be writing, and Haikyuu had the audacity to end💔

Tune in for more girlies.
